MTG Salvation

The color breakdown on this is gonna be finicky. There's not enough for every color pair plus every arc plus every wedge plus five-color plus monocolor. Not enough by a mile.

I'm thinking there won't be any wedge-colored legends in the set since all of those will be in the Commander precons.

I'm also thinking that we'll probably not see any slivers since Sliver Legion is just so boring and Overlord got foiled up in the PDS: Slivers deck, which leaves the following candidates for five-color legends:

• Atogatog
  
• Child of Alara
  
• Cromat
  
• Horde of Notions
  
• Karona, False God
  
• Progenitus
  
• Reaper King
  
• Scion of the Ur-Dragon

Of those, I think only Karona and Scion of the Ur-Dragon really make a case for themselves (Karona because of storyline importance and Scion because of Dragon-tribal EDH). This could go either way between those two, but I'd be surprised if the set included both or neither or a different five-color legend that isn't a preview of the next set.

Monocolored cards will probably be one third of the set - one of each color. Teferi is confirmed, but I'm guessing Akroma, Angel of Wrath in white (she is still the white legend for a lot of players). The others could really go in any number of directions.

Colorless, color pairs, and arcs, however... That could be really tricky. Would WotC include Eldrazi? Or maybe Bosh or Memnarch? Personally, I don't think so. So I'm thinking nine spots are left in the set for color pairs and arcs. This will probably be lopsided a bit... I'm hoping for at least three of these, though:

• Oona, Queen of the Fae
  
• Merieke ri Berit
  
• Grand Arbiter Augustin IV
  
• Zur the Enchanter

I would go to many lengths to pick this up if it had Oona in it... Other than that though, I am hoping for Reaper King since he's so sweet, and I could see Hanna, Ships Navigator. Other than that though, I can't see them printing any of the Time Spiral Dragons seeing as the new wedge legends are coming out in June. Other one's I would like to see...

Problem though is, I LOVE the art on most of those (clique aside), so I'm hoping that they only put new art on those that really need it...

I am the only person who DOESN'T want to see Xiahou Dun in here? Just think what it'll do to the price of these, they're dumb enough already. Its even worse here in the UK given that theres something like 12 places left in the UK that're allowed to stock em.

Good call. If that's going to be in the set, we're probably looking at either ten monocolored cards or any form of organized color breakdown is right out the window.

The Clique art is just for a MODO promo though, so it may not come up, though there are probably some Legacy players that want sweet new Vendillions.

Also, I have frequently said to my playgroup that Sun Quan, Lord of Wu is the awesomest creature in Cube.

Having no idea where you got that, I sincerely hope it doesn't make it into this set. The Mike Sutfin version is much better.

I'm not picky about which legends from Portal 3: Hell Hath No Lady Sun, are included, but as long as there's more than one, and spaces don't get wasted on yet another Karn, Invasion Dragon, or Nicol Bolas, I will be satisfied.

This is going to be amazing, probably the first FTV that I'm actually going to buy.

It always has been. They need to have more of this product than the other sets.

MSRP is 34.99 but that's the suggested retail price. No card shop has ever (at least in nearly every Californian shop I've gone to) has ever had any FTV for less than $50 and they've been steadily getting higher as the demand goes up.

I tried looking for them at retail shops, but I've only found them at specialty shops. Last FTV Relics was costing about 70-80 bux at my local shop and even at the price, they were selling like hotcakes. I imagine this might be similar to FTV Dragons and may not reach ridiculous heights, but if the portal cards are in there, then it's a distinct possibility... as I myself will be chasing to fetch a box.

Is it just me, or does Teferi have a bit of a Mona Lisa going on? I mean, the look on his face has an aura of supreme confidence and yet at the same time a down-to-earth look. Simply wonderful art.

If that were the vendilion clique art I would be upset to an extreme of magic I have not previously been at before, that would be the worst art ever and would rather just have the old art cause it looks cooler. Like what is with the lack of detail and no background? Bunch of lazy ass artists I tell you.

I fully agree. I love the new Teferi art and that guarantees I buy this. I find it a fun coincidence that Dralnu du Louvre is the daily decklist as that was my favorite deck and it involved 3 of him.

I think all those people might end up laughing at you... I don't think that there's any non-portal legendary creatures that have only been printed with white border.

He is a fantastic commander, being able to return tutors to your hand is nuts.

It's a crying shame that so many Weatherlight Saga guys are on the reserve list. I'd be a lot more excited about a chance to get Commander Greven il-Vec or Ertai, Wizard Adept with new art and a new card face.

So seeing as un-cards were never tournament legal for anything other than limited, they could claim that the un-cardswere still legal for tournament play in any tournaments where the original printings were still legal.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Meloku the Clouded Mirror. Though since it looks like they're printing Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, don't think they'd do two mono blue Legends though.

And I can easily see Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero getting printed.

Anyone else hoping for Atogatog?

Seriously, though, some of this discussion reminds me why I love MTGO. Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed's current going price is a whopping 12. And that's in cents.
