Anyone have an opinion on which deck is best in multiplayer against only other Planechase Precons?
Oh, throw a rock and you'll find an opinion. Wait a couple weeks and you might even find an informed one.
Proxy tested last night with 2-players. I think this set will be a hoot.
It will definitely work best with 3+ players where more free rolls and divergent motivations will inspire more PW'ing. But it was plenty fun with just 2.

I'm trying to decide which deck to play at the Launch Party, so I wanted to see what others thought about the decks.
EDIT: Oh and my B&M got the promos and they look AWESOME!!!
EDIT (again): I'm buying all four so I just need to decide which one to play in that specific event.
Question. Are there new cards in the pre-con decks? I wouldn't think so, but the Zombie Empire deck lists a card called 'Hideous End' that doesn't seem to exist. There is a card called Hideous Laughter, but it is from Champions and uses Splice, so I wouldn't think it'd be included. Haven't checked all the cards in all the decks, but I wonder about this one little detail.
ehhh... so how do these work exactly? I'm out of the loop.

Colourless mana comes FIRST! Try actually looking at a Magic card some time. It is NOT UU3, it's 3UU. What game are you making cards for?
I can no longer tell people to check their card names, because I am made of suck and fail.

I bought the domain www.PlanarMagic.com (that also appears in my signature) to direct people to just that information.

haha, wow. You bought it for that? I suppose I best use it then, thank you VERY much
Well right now it's directing to the Wizards site for Planechase. In the future if the format proves popular I'm going to put up a little rules/variants site if I have time.

I also put it in my sig, actually I was under the impression that that was one of WotC's official sites, believe it or not. Hope you don't mind, I'd love to spread the word.

Of course I don't mind! I'd really love it if Planar Magic became a permanent part of casual Magic.

(On a somewhat related note I live in an apartment with very thin walls and the internet meme "Surprise buttsecks!!" isn't just on the internet anymore. Man that girl sounded pissed off.)

What makes me mad is that their is no plane for esper.
Looking at Grixis and Bant I don't think an Esper card would be as simply designed. The shard didn't have a mechanic. What would it do? White, blue, and black permanents are artifacts in addition?
Aside from that, I'm glad we didn't get 6 Alara plane cards (Maelstrom + each "shard") and got some older planes and new ones instead. If the format proves popular enough, they'll make more. Down the road, I'm sure they could figure something out for other Alara plane cards, including Esper.
Maybe it's already been posted and I missed it, but could someone with more knowledge about the older blocks identify which of these Planes are old and which ones are "previews" of new blocks?

1.) We don't know if ANY of these are previews of new blocks.
2.) Classic planes we're seeing again for the first time in a long time: Ulgrotha, Segovia, Wildfire, Moag, Equilor, Rabiah, Mercadia, Serra's Realm, Bolas's Meditation Realm, & Shandalar.
3.) Planes we've seen fairly recently or very often: Dominaria, Ravnica, Alara, Shadowmoor, Lorwyn, Kamigawa, Mirrodin, Rath, Phyrexia, & Zendikar
4.) Brand new planes / planes we've never visited before: Kaldheim, Ir, Valla, Muraganda, Iquatana, & Arkhos
In MaRo's article about Planechase today, all of the pictures comes from various planar cards ... except one. As far as I can tell, this art isn't from any of the cards in Planechase:
Does anyone recognize where this comes from? It's obviously the same plane as the one featured in Horizon Canopy.

Yeah, I noticed that too, but only once I turned off my laptop. I was hoping another MTGSally would notice as well before WotC put it away, if it was a mistake on their part...
But yes, that looks strikingly similar to Horizon Canopy.
What makes me mad is that their is no plane for esper.
I agree 100%. No matter how difficult it may have been, they shouldn't have deprived the all-artifact plane from the all-artifact planechase deck. Even if the plane needed to be tweeked to have nothing to do with artifacts, they should have just let it in.

Let's wait and see what the Gateway promo's are before we freak out. For all we know Esper and Jund could be two of the three. Barring that, I think we can wait till Planechase 2 for Esper if we have to (and it's my favorite shard).

Not having read thru the entire thread, I know that the release will have a promotional plane associated with it - will there be other promotional planes released at other events?

It doesn't look like you ven read the post before this.
Yes there will be a promo Plane card handed out at the Zendikar prerelease and further planes will be distributed to stores similarly to the way Gateway works.

I compiled the spoiled Planechase cards, and typed them up into a Microsoft Word document, with each Planechase card in the cell of table, each cell designed to fit on a 3x5" index card. You can just print the document out, and cut and paste each cell to an index card, and voila, there's your Planechase deck.
That way, the game can be played without the planechase cards and without the special planechase die.
Simply use a normal 6 sided die, and if you roll a "1" that's the planeswalker symbol, if you roll a "6" that's the chaos effect.
I've also created a word document that lists the planechase rules.
It took me about half an hour to create, and I'd like to share this with everyone so that can print these out and use them.
I can post this if it's okay with the mods. I would think it's the same thing as proxying a card or designing your own magic cards and printing them out, it's all casual play anyways. It's not pirating the cards, and it's simply for people to print out and try the whole Planechase thing in practice with their friends before they go out and spend the $19.99 for a deck and planechase cards.
These word documents are not intended to be used as a replacement for the planechase deck and cards, and you should definitely go out and support Wizards and buy their products if you like the planechase idea after playing with it. Not to mention, you get some pretty nifty decks, beautiful artwork, and cool dice with that $19.99!
Is this okay to post a link to? If so, any place in particular I should host the file?
Just got word that the MSRP of the dual deck boxes with sleeves for the Plane cards is $12.99 each.
Release Date = September

I say go for it, and I think you can upload it through advanced posting. Besides, if this set is so limited as reports indicate, it's WOTC's own fault if people want to print and play. I'm not usually that kind of a person, but as someone who can't make the parties, looks like I'm screwed unless I want to pay inflated ebay prices.
dunno if anyone has posted, my promo planechase card has arrived, and i check, its is the same size as vanguard cards, that makes me happy, because if i found sleeves for the planechase i can buy for my vanguard collection ^^
