Standard now rotates only once each year, with the release of the October large set. So Scars of Mirrodin will enter Standard on its release and Shards of Alara block and Magic 2010 will leave. The Standard format after the release of Scars of Mirrodin will consist of Zendikar Block, Magic 2011, and Scars of Mirrodin.
Hm! Surprised "Scars of Mirrodin" wound up being the first set after all. Pretty psyched to see where this is going.
Tagline pretty well confirms that the plane of Mirrodin is what will indeed be transforming into New Phyrexia, I think.
Illustration is super-amazing, btw. Given how dramatically Magic's Creative team has improved in the years since Mirrodin I expect this block to blow the first one out of the water in terms of art and card concepting.
This could be interesting. I do hope there are some pretty decent cards in this set. Maybe we'll see a Karn PW card in like New Phyrexia or Mirrodin Pure since he'll come back to help fix the plane.
I'd like to remind you that Eye of Ugin can fetch Platinum Angel

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Omg I think I called the order right (Scars/Phyrexia/Pure). I wonder if I got the storyline right too?!
I agree with you on the order now that we know the first set. I do look forward to calling it Scars Block.
When I see the preview art it makes me think that there is still a lot of metal on Mirrodin which means something stopped it from reverting back to Agentum (sp?) or it simply stayed Mirrodin.
The set symbol to me looks like the end of a wrench, but it could also be a stylized nut.

I saw the logo as Mirroden itself with a black scar or even encroaching black oil....
Do you mean the expansion symbol? That looks like Glimmervoid hexagons inside a circle. I highly doubt it's an oil slick.

Karn, Silver Golem is getting reprinted in FtV: Relics. I don't think I have to remind people of what happened with the last Legendary-Creature-Turned-Planeswalker who showed up in a From the Vault product.

Oh god oh god oh god oh god.
Although I'd prefer Scars/Pure/Phyrexia, not sure how that'd work. I just want Phyrexia to continue!

Started playing since Invasion, stopped at Scourge. Returned briefly during BoK's introduction of ninjas. Finally back into magic during Shadowmoor/Eventide.
Currently Running Bant Control and a homebrew Blightning Echoes for Type 2.

I'm gonna say Karn will be in Scars, but not Karn, Silver Golem. I'm thinking a little more...ascended.
I'll guess Karn, Tezzeret and Garruk will be the PW's featured.
