Like I said WPN promos. Plus with Worldwake prerelease there is a chance that they will do the same with Zen prerelease with the plane.
And people really need to stop *****ing about Worldwake spoilers since they have not only spoiled 6 cards already but by the end of this week spoilers will start trickling in.
Plus there is the Product page coming tomorrow and presumably the Orb of Insight.
Evan got a spoiler that he's releasing on Friday too, we're going to see tons soon.
Evan got a spoiler that he's releasing on Friday too, we're going to see tons soon.
By any chance can someone (who is crazy enough) play a 2v2 with them? Like all four players play with them much like Planechase?
Umm, not sure why this is directed at me. I personally could care less about Worldwake spoilers and am content with waiting for Friday.
On topic: That may not be a bad idea though I would assume that there will be some rules that will not allow that to happen or it would be hard to do with how the cards a worded.

"We regretfully announce the discontinuation of the Magic: the Gathering collectible card game. The last few iterations did not perform to expectations in the past few years, and Hasbro is moving in a more cost-effective direction for its analog games."
"Oh wow, what sets did so bad that Hasbro had to pull the plug?"
"Vanguard, Planechase, Archenemy, Duel Decks, Duels of the Planeswalkers, MTG Tactics, From The Vault, and Premium Deck Series did not meet our financial obligations."
"But those aren't Magic expansions."
"SCHWEIGEN!"

Too bad that Planechase, Duel Decks, Duels of the Planeswalkers, and From the Vault were wildly successful.
Anyone care to explain exactly what a raid deck is (in detail?)
Its a thing in the WoW Tcg, wherin a group of players with normal decks(constructed for the raid specifically) fight against a single player with a special deck based on a high level instance from wow. There are a series of bosses with special arenas and small decks of their own, culminating in an incredibly tough last boss character, with a ridiculously powerful deck.
We played one on my friends birthday a few years ago, it was a lot of fun. I can't accept this will be anything but a wanky knockoff though.
How dare Wizards try to make money! Don't they know that they're obligated to cater to what I want, and nothing else? Their new products have made them tons of money despite economic downturn, and greatly expanded their player/customer base, but none of that matters because I, personally, don't like them! This is a personal insult and I am quitting Magic forever.

Oh man, that sounds pretty awesome. I really love the idea, can't wait to see it in action.
3 vs 3 where each team has a "DM" sounds like a ton of fun.
Giving casual players more options and fun experiences is great.
everyone complaining obviously doesn't play casually. Even if they are ripping off an idea, its a fun idea and more choices are better than less, right?
Planechase EDH is pretty much the ONLY causal magic i play anymore because its just so much fun, super random and you end up seeing so many great card interactions you'd never ever see in constructed. I still play sealed and draft, and i love that for what it is, but causal play is how most of us started, and it should have its own support also.
because really, if this game was only about tournaments and DCI rankings, it'd die a horrible death.
Causal appeal is what keeps this game "FUN"!
I can't wait to see how it works, what these cards do and HOPEFULLY it works well with EDH and Planeschase!
I hope they DON'T abandon PC, because its obviously popular- I've never seen it completely in stock at our shop and i always see people playing it randomly. Its good fun, everyone needs to try it out and remember why they started playing this game!
Positives: Interesting take on Multi-player, format that supports Casuals well, obviously an evolution of Vanguard -> Planechase -> Archenemy which isn't bad, should do very well on MTGO.
Negatives:
-Very good chance it overestimates it's market. Obviously targetted at larger groups of players, and likely essentially useless in 2 or maybe 3 player groups. Planeschase did ok because it can be played 1 vs 1. This may not, and the assumption is that the Casual crowd has access to a fair number of players. By definition the Casual crowd is the one least likely to have a fair number of players, because they're Casual, they're not playing regularly and may just be kitchen table players.
-Fragments market, divides between Planechase and Archenemy which are essentially trying to fill the same niche. May have been better served by allowing for a 1 vs many set of rules for Planechase, such as allowing the 1 an extra plane, rather than roll out a new product trying to fill the same niche.
It's worth a shot, I just have doubts on it's viability and think maybe they'd have been better served by expanding on Planechase and it's rules...

I love this idea. Although I'm such a better deck builder than anyone in my group that I think I could beat them all anyway*cough*
but they were never willing to try it. maybe now that there will be a product giving me special advantages they'll be willing to do it

This does sound fun, but unless the rares in the precons are any good I don't think I'll be picking this up. I don't get six people together to play Magic frequently enough to make it worth my while on its own. EDH and Planechase still work in heads-up and short games, but this sounds like a horse of a different color.
Has anyone played that Vs System Giant-size Galactus thing? This sounds a lot like that. One player had this crazy-powerful Galactus deck and everyone else played their own decks and were part of the Alliance. I don't think I ever saw Galactus lose.
"Wizards of the Coast has and may continue to print special versions of cards not meant for regular game play, such as oversized cards." - Official Reprint Policy for Magic
Just a guess, but outside of promotion materials, I can't imagine a better excuse to reprint the P9 in a non-tournament legal form than Archenemy.
From a different angle, I recall an article in the Duelist about Magic in Japan. There was a "demon's challenge" league that had players challenge each other for tokens that would allow them to confront a "demon boss" who wielded some broken powers. There was also a "mini demon" that players could challenge for special tokens that would give them an edge while fighting the "boss demon". I wonder if Archenemy might be adapted for something like that as well.
"A rich man thinks all other people are rich, and an intelligent man thinks all other people are similarly gifted. Both are always terribly shocked when they discover the truth of the world. You, my dear brother, are a pious man." - Strahd von Zarovich
Frankly the one thing I wanted to try in the WOW TCG was the raid decks, and every time I see em I am tempted to buy them, but no one I know has any Wow cards and it's kind of hard to play the raid decks without friends who have decks that can beat them. If this IS a "ripoff" of Raid decks I will be buying all four on day one. My little casual playgroup will love this and as I like to be the "dick" of the group I will be happy to be the ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ against everyone. Plus I will totally RP it like Tycho
Just because they take an idea that has sold well for the Wow TCG doesn't make this a bad idea.

While I agree that casual needs to be supported, this doesn't seem like a good way to do it. Planechase is awesome for multiplayer, but is still quite fun with just 2 or 3 players. And things like duel decks are great sit down and go sets for just a couple of players. Why they decided to add on this new set that doesn't add much instead of adding support for a really good product like planechase confuses me. The one nice thing about it is that I'm not likely to be tempted to get it, so it saves me some money.

QFT. I am looking forward to playing the villain in such a format. I'm optimistic, but I'd rather Chaos Chase with friends. Really hope they can balance it well.
Funny story. I once played a 6 vs 1 game (I was the 1) and was actually winning until several of the players had to leave so we called it quits.
Of course, I was playing a multiplayer-tuned Monowhite control deck and all six were playing mediocre casual aggro decks and I had pretty much the perfect curve (something like Soul Warden turn one to gain ~15 life, Ghostly Prison turn three to slow down the assaults, and Wrath of God turn four to reset the board and get roughly a 15 for 1).

Sounds like it could be fun, it all depends on the execution. If this is really similar to the way raid was done in WoW tcg then can someone provide a link who is fimilar with this?

WoW TCG raids were fun (IMO), so this should be interesting.
Looking forward to playing it, but probably won't buy it.
A man only has so much money for shiny cardboard with silly rules for use.
the wow tcgs raid thing had one flaw until the released buyable treasure packs and thats its pointlessness after it was used once. most the time the players opened the pack to get teh cards and gace the raid decks to ppl that wanted them cause they were worthless to the tourny players

If you play video games: this deck allows you to be the last boss in the coolest videogame you've ever played.
If you play ttrpgs like d&d: you are the dm, but you win by killing the other players. >:)
