more useless textless cards...
I don't get this.
the crap of last time made me stop playing FNM. Until last year, I got the feeling I got rewarded with these cards. This isn't a reward anymore.
why not a card that is always useful? There are enough cards that make a good choice for textless cards...
these cards are only sideboard cards for standard players. That's the most useless choice for textless cards.
I hope wizards has an explanation for this. there has to be a reason why they do this.
Yeah, they definitely have to explain themselves for why the free stuff they give you isn't good enough. This is like complaining about McDonald's because their napkins aren't made of silk.
With the better quality arts, I definitely like the Infest art. Fallout is still kind of meh.
(On a somewhat related note I live in an apartment with very thin walls and the internet meme "Surprise buttsecks!!" isn't just on the internet anymore. Man that girl sounded pissed off.)

These are sick guys, infests art is awsome, If i didnt like foreign stuff Id snag a set of these. Also harrow would make a good promo, but how bout disfigure? or into the roil. that would be hotness

I bet we have a case of Jon Finkel sleeping with the girl, then never calling her again and she going bat #%^% crazy and writing this article case closed.

I got mine on the 2nd, enveloped marked 12/30/09. Paper explaining contents is on plain white paper, not like before with logos and such. Something I would like to see come out within this year, a new DCI card. If you could put some art on your card, what would it be? I would like some dragons or maybe From the Vault but instead of "Dragons" have my DCI #.

i really wish they would let you order new dci cards and have an image selection process. give you multiple artworks to choose from, or even let you do a custom one. much in the way credit card companies do. my dci card is cardboard and from 1997, its falling apart. i finally got a plastic one a few months ago. it had sarkhan vol on it. sarkhan vol is the embodiment of absolutely everything i hate about a certain category of magic player and he's a character with no depth. i threw it out. i was not going to use a dci card with the image of a character i hate so much on it. i'm still using that cardboard one from 1997 instead. its incredibly disappointing.

My plastic one is starting to fade. The barcode (only seen one place actually have a scanner for it) is unusable, and some of the numbers are starting to fade, so I have to guess sometimes if that's a 5 or a 6 in my dci number.
What would be really nice is if they let us choose which they send us. I suspect quite a few would not be picking cancel or remove soul. Useless cards IMO.
Actually not overjoyed with these. I'm not really liking Infest's art; the witch doctor/goth chick? seems to be a needless addition to the vermin infestation. Volcanic Fallout's art seems to have odd perspective--"up" seems to differ, depending on which part of the art you look at.
...sooo last year. The problem with printing these is the meta. Don't get me wrong, Fallout is still great but it's not maindeckable anymore, and Infest has hardly ever been.
How about Day of Judgment or Deathmark?!?

Fallout is still pretty good in extended. Faeries is still heavily played, and elves probably will make some sort of comeback. it even has potential against legacy Merfolk, though that might be stretching it a bit. they definitely have uses outside of standard sb's (well, Fallout at least).
Why on earth don't they have a Selecting Textless as an ongoing feature on their website?
That way, Fallout would have almost certainly been a textless reward 6 months or so ago, and Cancel wouldn't have happened as it would have received about 0.3% of the vote.
Wizards could put a small selection of commons and uncommons that are useful in casual and competitive play up for vote each time.
Imagine this:
Jan 2010 textless cards vote. You may choose 2:
Volcanic Fallout, Doomblade, Blightning, Rhox Warmonk, Ancient Zigurrat
If they did that every 3 months, plus once a year for the premium foil, it would be awesome.

So wait, are these shipping out now for the Spring mailing?
I'm kind of confused. The DCI page says for me:[omitted] So I guess since I don't see a sent for recently they didn't mail mine?
It's too bad there isn't a faq for this. Whoever (at WOTC) mails it uses a copy of the database from a few weeks ago; they update the main database after the shipment. Your dci page will not show this yet.
1. The promos that have the best appeal are basic lands, since everybody could conceivably value those.
2. The old textless cards are still being printed.
>1. Everyone has a dif. idea what the promo should be. Be reminded that it started as Tokens only; WOTC still calls it "Token Pack."
>2. This is not true; they just have old ones sitting around.
Paper explaining contents is on plain white paper, not like before with logos and such.
Yes, the letter was on "plain stock," not "letterhead." Saving money. Also, all ten of my cards came in one glassine envelope, and the Lightning Bolts were just floating around with no envelopes at all. Saving money...

The consensus seems to be that Wizards requires a lead time for getting artwork, selecting, setting up, printing, and distributing. I think they pick what they think would be best, but what would not be total junk. They do not select upon what would be valuable for collecting, clearly.
It's been widely accepted that shipments now come out before new sets, to give the oversized preview card. Thanks for the tad about not being updated until after sent, that makes me feel better about not getting mine yet.

Of course, maybe I'm too picky.
How about Day of Judgment or Deathmark?!?
But hey, the art isn't that drastic. It's not too shabby.
Fallout is still pretty good in extended. Faeries is still heavily played, and elves probably will make some sort of comeback. it even has potential against legacy Merfolk, though that might be stretching it a bit. they definitely have uses outside of standard sb's (well, Fallout at least).
i disagree. bad art is bad art, no matter what the size. both of these art pretty meh, imo.

I haven't either. I just checked, and I have 2 current token sets coming, but no date shipped or any emails. I'm on the east coast, but still...

Me too. I believe they send them whenever it is convenient to send them. I have been studying their schedule and it is quite eratic.
