2. The decks are bad, which I'm fine with except that the cards you unlock are just as bad and you can't take cards out of the original deck, only shuffle them together in a big pile like a three-year-old does when he first starts playing Magic.
Every new bit of info makes this game sound worse. I wasn't expecting an MTGO killer here but that sounds awful.

Every bit of info on this game indicated that Wizards was not intending to cannibalize their MTGO playerbase that prints money.

Played Duels for about an hour and a half.. Hard to give a comprehensive review with that - but the basics:
It's very streamlined and intuitive - it taps lands for you (there are no dual lands so no having to make decisions about what sort of mana you need to add) and reminds you of the rules quite a lot at first.
The decks are pretty basic, all 10th edition staples. overrun, holy day, incinerate, Troll Ascetic, Wall of Wood etc. You start with green, and beat red and white and gain their decks. You can unlock new cards for your deck, but it doesn't seem like you can customize the deck too much as you can't remove cards or adjust land/spell ratio. The decks seem pretty balanced.
Each spell played and phase allows a stop where you confirm it, and then a response timer which you can pause and play an instant.
There are a bunch of things done automatically at first (stops, damage assignment, etc) but you can turn those on and off manually from the options menu. There are three levels of AI - mage, archmage and planewalker - Archmage doesn't seem particularly dumb but it did attack me with a prodigal pyromancer in that first game.
They've got a lot of sound and visual effects, especially when it comes to combat and damage - flying cards actually float above the board - a shock will actually shoot lightning from the card to a monster or you, a creature will create a little ripping graphic on the opposite card that heals, and there are variety of sound effects attached to this. this is optional and you can turn it off if you're tired of watching all that animation.
Anyways, for $10 you get a Foil promo Garruk at the least, the game is nice and I will try to get in some more time with it. - looking forward to getting online and playing some other people in MP and two headed giant.
This is probably the most unintuitive piece of trash I've ever played. Please don't waste your money its absolute garbage.
1. The song that plays during the main menu is absolutely ******** and just happens to be a 5 second loop of a violin that repeats itself over and over throughout the entire game.
This is 360 - you can play any recorded track in your entire music library that you've burned to the hard drive.
2. The decks are bad, which I'm fine with except that the cards you unlock are just as bad and you can't take cards out of the original deck, only shuffle them together in a big pile like a three-year-old does when he first starts playing Magic.
I've never seen a 3-year old play magic - that being said, not being able to really customize the deck takes away from the overall experience.
3. The controls are clunky at best, the cards are too small to see most of the time even on a 32 inch widescreen and the backgrounds are dull as dirt while at the same time having too much much going on that distracts from the actual card game.
Running in 1080i and it looks fine - you can press R Trigger to pop open any card and see in it's full glory.
5. It is so obvious that they wanted to appeal to casuals only. They dont even talk about anything outside main phases and attack phases, the only interaction you have with your opponent is attacking and blocking. That's not what magic is about at all. They should have called it, "Magic: How many creatures can I turn sideways at once"
I'm sooooo happy I wasted another ten dollars on another bad game. You think I would be used to disappointment by now. Oh well, 10 dollar foil Garruk please, oh wait the game won't give me the code, gg Wizards, gg. Maybe next time instead of hiring a hokey-ass developer you'll find someone who can put out a good product.
I fail to see how aiming at the casual gamer is a bad thing. MTGO has obviously been the hardcore bullseye and this offers an alternative.
Basically, I guess the tagline is "If you're a Spike, this game isn't for you. But hey, you can play it with your GF or little bro. And here's a Foil Garruk."
I guess the downloading problems were a blessing in disguise, after reading about how horrible it is here I've decided not to give it the benefit of the doubt after the abysmal demo.
You know, the situation around this game makes me wonder: did they really have to spend 3 years in development just to sell foil promo Garruks for $10?
No. They didn't have to. This...is...I am ashamed to have paid for this. Seriously. I wasn't going to, but I did it anyway. And against better judgement. This is 10th Edition only. If you were expecting anything but how to play, you need to look elsewhere. People who love the core editiosn will enjoy it. I know I am not. Sigh. might as well go hunting for achievements. Dammit.

[I was permabanned and all I got to show for it was .... well, nothing.]
Ok, the presentation is great and playing is very enjoyable. But you can't alter your decks? How would that be any danger to MTGO when you're allotting such a miniscule card pool. You're forcing players to add cool new cards to their decks by ruining their deck building skills. Although I suppose it's fair, since the planewalkers you play against the second time through have 80+ card decks =.=
Also, I call shenanigans on the last "puzzle". If your opponent isn't a complete tard there is absolutely no way to win. I sat there and did the math for like 30 minutes before finally just saying the hell with it and swinging, only to find out the AI blocks like an idiot. Congrats.
I wasn't expecting much and am impressed with the layout and presentation, but forcing players to build decks larger than 60 cards is criminal. Makes it not really worth playing to unlock new cards at all.

If the expansion includes an update to allow full deck manipulation, I'll call it a complete success. But as is, it's still a horrible decision even for Casual players, especially given their new goal seems to be to bring casual players into tourney events.

Well it said it could not generate my code for some dirty reason dont know for the other.
Romeo, O Romeo, can i haz romeo?
(And Challenges are puzzles which have no relationship to the campaign.)

The first 3 matches was somewhat enjoyable, but this game is by no means good....
It tells you how many cards are in their hand and in their decks.
This is 360 - you can play any recorded track in your entire music library that you've burned to the hard drive.
I've never seen a 3-year old play magic - that being said, not being able to really customize the deck takes away from the overall experience.

??? actually it plays pretty similar - the only loss is land tapping. You have stops at every point and can manually pause at any point.
Ah it's the numbers on the top left! got it.
One thing that was never brought up but implied by Shandalar's roots is a complete lack of story. You're just thrown in the ring to duel.

There is no Nissa card in this game. There are no planeswalkers in this game.
Nissa has a deck, which is a generic G/B elf deck.
