When a spell or ability is on the stack, x is a copiable value--not sure if that's what you're getting at, BurningPaladin, but there you go.
What I like is this + any extra-mana lands. Say I've got a land that produces 2 mana, another land that produces one, and Garruk. Magus of the candelabra just needs himself and lands. Even ley druid would only need a 3 mana land. This lets you go infinite very, very quickly. This just screams 'combo trigger'.
I wouldn't bet on it.
Turn 1 forest birds
turn 2 forest overgrowth on a forest
turn 3 urza's factory, tap enchanted forest and factory for rings(G), rite of flame(RRG), rite of flame(RRRRG), garruk, use the RR in pool to copy his untap ability, targeting the enchanted land, go infinite tokens from there. If it doesn't kill, do it again next turn.
9 cards--all of them if on the play, 1 fewer than drawn otherwise--X spell, anyone? How about something from our buyback department?
There are also probably easier/quicker ways to abuse it as well. The magus of the candelabra would require fewer cards to break, for example.....
On a non-infinite idea, this + any augur is darn good--red for 6+ damage, blue to remove a pile of blockers, etc.
How are you going 'infinite' with this when Garruk's ability can only be used once a turn?
OMG... Sometimes Wizards makes me question whether their heads are on right. Maybe T2 will not suffer, but I know plenty of T1 players that will cry (Time Vault). Ohh and I noticed that people were adding broken things. How about infinite colorless mana with either Mana-Vault or Grim Monolithe. All I can say is Wow...
Can you untap the vault more than once? I'm not trying to be a smarta$$; I honestly don't know. But the usage with this and grim monolith is just plain silly. Rings, Monolith, Rocket Launcher... peace out.

You only untap the Vault once. Then you skip one turn. Then you tap it to take another turn, which cancels the first skipped turn... and then copy it for 2, gaining a free turn.
Please keep in imnd that you cannot replicate manaabilities.
No but you could replicate the untap ability on Grim Monolith and with 2 Rings of Brightflame out you could create an infinite mana combo by properly stacking the untap activations.

The card looks good, just a little clumsy. Mirrari was T2 fare and was good in certain decks. The ring will also be good in certain decks, but I never get too excited about cards that do nothing on their own.

This card is just great, it is a great addition to my UG mill deck, hahahaha
I see this card together with an Ambassador Laquatus, pay 5 mill for 6 cards, then pay 5 more mana then you mill another 6 cards, and that is just the end of turn.
On another note, you can increase storage counters on your lands with this card in play.

I believe Magus of the Coffers' ability is a mana ability, since it directly adds mana to your mana pool. But, I still like this card, it's an interesting twist on Mirari's ability and 1 cheaper too. I'll definately get a playset since I have decided to restart playing paper magic beginning with Lorwyn.

I love this. The Johnny in me loves I can draw 8 cards for 6 mana with me tower, and 6 cards for 2 mana with my arcanis. In my 8 Post Seedborn muse, use stupid amounts of mana in your turn - most of the things in the deck just got cost effective due to them being x2 for 2 extra mana.
Fun at least. Broken? Probably not consistently - definately Johhny worthy - Timmy might find ways to make big stuff too - spike is probably not convinced (T2).

will this work with Greater Gargadon? If so a Blue-Red deck would be nice. This, arcanis, gargadon, and a whole lotta other blue/red critters with activated abilities, those blue tap-draw critters. Not to mention storage lands... then you could have burn and counterspells, to back you up.

At 5 Mana: Cast Chandra (turn 4 or 5) Deal 1 damage to a player.
Next turn: Clockspin Chandra for a counter, play the 8 mana ability, double it with the rings. Boom- 20 to the head.
Of course disruptable by damage to Chandra, but once Chandra + Rings are in play, your opponent will be forced to take her out, and quick. Casaul fun.. I really want to boom someone for 20!!
Insane if you get it a 2HG sealed (since your partner can block for Chandra too)

I wonder if anybody has thought about using this to power-up a MUD deck....then you could have a lot more mana a lot more quickly. Oh well, I guess I'm just in denial.
Quite a nifty ability, shame about the underwhelming art and flavor text that reads like a Troy McClure infomercial.

If you can get infinite mana, then Mindless Automaton with Rings means you can draw your entire deck and play any spells you want to.
But really, this card just makes Royal Assassin just hose attackers.
And Thrull Surgeon for four mana you get to pick two cards out of his hand.
I am envision a deck with Composite Golems, Door to Nothingness, Doubling Cube, Vedalken Engineer and this card. Am I crazy?

Yeah, but I was thinking more along the lines of having two Composite Golems in play, and then activating Door to Nothingness.
Or alternatively having Night-eyes in play for some mana action (I'm actually not sure if this works)

While is doesn't replicate the when you cycle affects of the degrees and similar spells, it can be used to draw a second card off cycling..
And getting two lands per fetchland is not so shabby either.
