I agree the blue magic can indicate a MoR, but her black clothes, the color palette of the background, the skull in the background... I'm just not seeing a white card here.
I'm not saying it's mom, even though that was the first thought that crossed my mind. I was just saying that if it were mom, it wouldn't make sense to show all five colors. Personally, I think it's Control Magic, especially since we were told to pay attention to the skull.
EDIT:
Obviously after I wrote this I saw magic glowing over her forehead indicating some manipulating magic. If Mother of Runes then she's just become Magical instead of Mystical.
I think the preview art is for Control Magic, there isn't enough action in the art to depict a card like Force of Will. The fact that the magic being used is blue also makes me think that it can't be mother of runes. Has anyone been able to preorder one yet? If so what prices are you guys getting for them?
The only good card from the 1993 GenCon deck I could find is Dark Ritual, the only other plausible things I can think of would be either Juggernaut, and that seems unlikely because it's been reprinted so recently and is so unplayable today, or Orcish Oriflame with the Alpha missprint making it cost 1R instead of 3R and that seems highly improbable.
1993 - Dark Ritual, It's the only card from the winning deck that is playable today, and It's iconic to what early magic was like
1994 - Control Magic, this is the preview art, and it's one of the few cards from the 94 deck that is not on the reserved list, is poppular in EDH, and doesn't cost $200
1995 - Hymn to Tourach, so iconic, and never reprinted. easy choice.
1996 - Armageddon, the other possibility is Serra Angel, but she has been reprinted a ton and isn't good anymore, unlike Armageddon
1997 - City of Brass, it's an iconic land that still sees play and haven't been reprinted since 8th edition
1998 - Birds of Paradise, It's gotta be in here somewhere, and there's nothing else exciting from that deck
1999 - Wildfire, this is good for cube and EDH at least. there's nothing else that's interresting from that deck.
2000 - Tangle Wire, it still sees play in Stax. the other possibilities are Rishadan Port, but that's probably too lucrative, I could also see Tinker, but it's already in a FTW.
2001 - Flametongue Kavu, no question. It defined all formats back in the day, and it's still good for Cube and EDH.
2002 - Psychatog or Upheaval, I'm not sure which I think it is, Tog is probably more iconic, but Upheaval has never been reprinted
2003 - Wrath of God. This is annother one of those "must reprint" cards, and there's not much else in that deck.
2004 - Plow Under or Eternal Witness, could be both. I could also see them do something from Affinity here.
2005 - Umezawa's Jitte, no question. this was the card of that year. And this is the best place to reprint it since it's not in Modern Masters
2006 - Rite of Flame or Lotus Bloom, if it weren't already in FTW:Dragons, then Dragonstorm would be a shoe-in
2007 - It could be Hypnotic Specter, but that feels like a cop-out. Garruk Wildspeaker would be decent, but there's already a ton of versions of him. Both Tarmogoyf and Thoughtseize is gonna be in Modern Masters
2008 - Bitterblossom, see 2005 for why.
2009 - Baneslayer Angel or Bloodbraid Elf, both are iconic creatures. the other choice is Noble Hierarch, but she's probably in Modern Masters.
2010 - This would be a good place to have Jace, the Mind Sculptor. if it's not him due to price concerns then Inquisition of Kozilek is decent, as it's not in Modern Masters
2011 - Green Sun's Zenith, not in Modern Masters, good everywhere it's legal. the other choice would be Thrun, the last Troll or Kessig Wolf-Run
2012 - I'm not sure which deck is gonna be used as a basis, so I can't say.
I don't understand why people can't see this is Hoble Hierarch. I'd love to see "mom," but they don't make such bold color statements in art without reason.
If MSRP math says I should expect this at $122-132 going by other Vault sets, then while I of course would love to get it cheaper, if I can't find it cheaper, $140 could be a fair price to ensure I get one box, assuming that Control Magic is one of the least epic things in the Box.
You can't really say 120-130 dollars based on previous FTVs as those FTVs are currently going for that 4 or 5 years after they have been printed. At this point the old FTVs have higher value due to age and rarity of being unopened. Look at FTV: Realms which I just looked up on ebay and say one selling for 62$ (Just under doubling of the MSRP). If they load this with insane cards I may see 120, but if it is 15-25 dollar cards with a splattering of 5-10 with some of the expensive cards being expensive only due to rarity of the original card then I could see the set selling for around 70-80 for the most part. I have to think smart and look at trends when I purchase as I can not just throw away hundreds of dollars. This is how I look at the value of the FTV: 20, and we'll see what exactly makes it in (Remember Berserk from FTV was 20$ when the Unlimited was still 60$ at the time of release). It wasn't just the card that mattered it was the rarity of the card. Now you have some info to help guide you when looking at this FTV.

At peak craziness, some stores were selling FTV: Realms at $150-200, some even more than that. That was shortly after Maze of Ith was spoiled, and before we knew Desert was in it.

I am trying to inform people of how to expect the value to go. If you are a "I NEED IT FIRST"; person who has a few hundred to throw away then by all means spend the money. That isn't someone who is going to make posts about the cost of a product though. They will just throw their wallet it at it and exclaim, "MINE!". I purchased my FTV: Realms for 65$ off of ebay 2 weeks after its release, and my purchase still falls closely in line with what they are selling for today so I am perfectly happy to have spent that money as I do not feel as if I made a poor decision. I was trying to inform people who are carried away by the "Ships burning"; scenarios of cost an informative post that all is not lost and these will be a lot more wallet friendly than others may claim.

You wouldn't have to show all colors, but surely it would make sense. See, for example, the 8th Edition art for Story Circle, which can also only protect against a single color.
Anyway, there is no chance at all that the art is Mother of Runes. She's casting an obviously blue spell, and the color pattern is completely devoid of anything suggesting white. (Find any white card at all printed in the past decade that looks as dark, and as blue in tone, as this art. There are none.) She also does not look particularly mothering or protective. And she's definitely not casting runes, though of course she wouldn't need to be.
I think Control Magic is most likely, but it's almost certainly some sort of blue spell, slight chance of a blue creature (but nothing comes to mind).
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

Most modern control magic effects' arts show the jacked creature and its relationship with the jacker, which makes me think this card is a creature of the character pictured rather than a control magic spell.

For 2013, I can see it either being Falkenrath Aristocrat, Boros Reckoner, or anything from a GP from this year. It's hard to determine the 2013 card since we don't know how long this has been in development.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
Psionic Blast is my call for the previewed art based on where the action is focused (i.e. about to cast something vs Control Magic's relative lack of action. But that'd be my second guess.)
good point. her actions seems more fitting for instant or sorcery.
control magic art he is not casting , but being shackled and controlled.

Yeah, but I'm 80% sure that the woman pictured is Jace's mother. And if that is true, then there is no need for Control Magic to illustrate her taking a monster, because she already made the ultimate take control of the game card in her younger days.

I won't bother speculating on the cards to be found in this FtV (I'm far too new a player) but has anyone any idea on when the card list should be made official?
This is releasing sometime in August right?

No. Hardly. They've always used a mix of brand-new art and old art for FTV printings. That doesn't mean that all FTV printings will follow that pattern (could be all new, could be all old), but it does mean that it is hardly a guarantee that they would use the DOTP art for Control Magic.

As far as I know, most grandmothers are also mothers. I could be wrong though...

almost every single of these have been reprinted as promos, so I think that's highly unlikely to reprint them again
Feel free to tell me yours!
For one, Cad Bloom is reserved so it's a no go.
Honestly, Force and Drain would be the ballsiest moves on WotC's part if they choose them AT ALL.
Prime Time is one of the upcoming promos for the GP season, so I wouldn't expect that. Maybe Valakut would be a sweet one?
Necro is also in another FTV so I think that'd be out too.
For 2012, I expect either an Eggs key piece(Lotus Bloom, Second Sunrise), Snapcaster Mage, Cavern of Souls, or literally anything from the WMC or one of the other PT's.
For 2013, I can see it either being Falkenrath Aristocrat, Boros Reckoner, or anything from a GP from this year. It's hard to determine the 2013 card since we don't know how long this has been in development.
