Come on, people! Think for a minute. Wizards has said that they think that Wrath is too restrictive. We know that Wizards refuses to print 5-mana white sweepers because they'd be overpowered alongside Wrath. Why on EARTH would Wizards consider replacing an overpowered staple card with an equally overpowered staple card in a color that needs it less (Wizards having said that their list of things that black does by the color pie being longer than White's)?
Hence me saying that I doubt it will happen. I specifically said that was my hope. I happen to like black controlling the field, and that would just solidify it completely.
Wow! This is so great. My all time favorite decks have always been control. Usually predominately blue, but I won't mind going B, B/W, or even B/W u. It looks like control is back. Good bye aggro and good riddance:)

Black doesn't care about killing all creatures, it cares about killing creatures that don't have the 'black mindset'. That's why so much black removal can only target non-black creatures.
Now, the thing to keep in mind is that black doesn't mind sacrificing it's own creatures to do this, as long as they are serving a purpose, beyond just dieing.
Ignoring the flavor, historically it should still be obvious that 'destroy all creatures' effects are 100% white:
Black kills nonblack creatures, creatures under a certain power or toughness, creatures that are enchanted... or just a couple dozen ways to just kill creatures, period.
In fact... there's a lot of black wrath effects, too.
Sure, it'd only be the second straight-up 'destroy all creautres' spell in black, but... it's hardly without precedent. Heck, I bet black's got more partial wraths than white does.

Banana of the Month Feb '05 Cool stuff here.
There will be some good industructible arrgo cards to counter this, bet on it. Or, futher color creep of counterspells to allow decks similar to last standard's RGu decks that packed counters just for wrath. Besides, with shock and painlands in standard, this won't mess things up quite as much as my intial reaction.
The one thing these spells gaurantee is that the "multicolor" theme of Ravnica won't be leaving when it rotates. Color bleed/shift will allow mono colored decks to have the same versatility. Wow...
I still can't wait to see how green get the short end of the stick in this Lets make colors do what other colors do phase. This is pretty cool and it is definately gonna fetch some dollars. So if Blue does black and Black does white then Red does blue and green does red and white does green?

But if you qouted his whole post you would have seen that every card you listed fell into the catagory he put up as being Black. Plus most of those carsd arent Destroy all creatures, you should double check that list. Alot of Destroy all white, or destroy all Green, or Destroy all card that share a creature type, those just dont count.
Black:
-X/-X effects(Mutilate, Sudden Death, etc.)
'life-draining'
'destroy/scare the non-believer' effects(Terror, Dark Banishing, etc.)
But dont fall into the exact set of Just plain ol destroy every creature. There are exception, but I bet they came at one every 2 years or so, if not longer in some cases.
If you were to list, the cards that just say, destroy every creature, it cant be regenerated that black has I think it would be countable on one hand.
However, I can list card after card that white has that does this exact affect.
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.
I feel a black Wrath is FAR more realistic than a White Shock. However its still ...unblack.
Black doesn't waste things...anything. So Destroy all creatures is fine, but normally you'd want something for the work, Cards ala Decree of Pain, or Victory with Plague Wind. A Black Wrath of God stinks of Balance that which Black can't stand. Perhaps I'm just trapped in the mindstate that White has Wrath because its Balance. In gameplay it obviously is very rarely a fair trade.
If it hasn't been said yet, then, I can only say: Creatures have such a limited lifespan in Standard (in my meta, anyway), that Black can get away with this.
And WotC doesn't care about other formats.

... because they're based exactly off Wrath. My point is that black destroys creatures, and black hurts all creatures, and they have overlapped in the past. It just makes more sense in black, because you can go and say, well, black kills stuff and prevents regen and also has dozens of instances of such effects being spread out across all creatures. This is just the first that spreads out that one, particular effect among all creatures.

I dont think White is subpar at all.
Disenchant > Arena, Hypnotic Spector says darn to pacify, Devouring Light, Condemn, Faith's Fetters... Wrath of God.
I would say Hypnotic Spector is still its uber discard, since it actually advances your game in the process (deals damage) but really, white doesnt have much of an answer to discard, but it never has.
cant argue with that. but White has Loxodon Hierarchs, Akroma, Ressurect, and mutiltudes of other Life gain and easy splash into Green and Black to make serious ugly control decks.
My W/G/B Control deck would hand most if not all B/X control decks butts to them becuase it has more answers and better reach with its life gain (Hierarchs, Fetters) its discard (Persecutes), Creature control (***, Putrefy, Mortify, Fetters) Permanent Distruction (Angel of Dispair), Recursion (Debtors Knell, dont laugh, its brutal) Mana Accel (Birds) and plain fat, (Hierarchs, Akroma, Angel of Dispair, Call of the Heard).
And I doubt I would add in Damnation to it or its side board, I dont need it. My creature control is already fine..
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.

I love you so you know, but with this mindset, Green with Hurricane and Squall, Red with Pyroclasm and Wildfire and Blue with Exhaustion all fit and beg the question why cant *** be in flavor for them? Red blows stuff up, thats what *** does, Green Uses nature to overhelm, thats like ***, blue makes things go away, thats pretty *** like....
Plus, if you removed every card in your list that doesnt have an exception to what it blows up, you would be left with around what? 10? in all of magic history?
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.
I still disagree strongly that Wrath should be a black effect. Black doesn't care about killing all creatures, it cares about killing creatures that don't have the 'black mindset'. That's why so much black removal can only target non-black creatures.
White & black are the two strongest direct creature removal colors(with red being the strongest indirect through burn). The split is:
White:
pacifism effects
combat based removal(Condemn, Reciprocate, etc.)
'destroy all creatures' effects(Wrath effects)
Black:
-X/-X effects(Mutilate, Sudden Death, etc.)
'life-draining'
'destroy/scare the non-believer' effects(Terror, Dark Banishing, etc.)
Now, the thing to keep in mind is that black doesn't mind sacrificing it's own creatures to do this, as long as they are serving a purpose, beyond just dieing. Decree of Pain is a great example. Yes it kills everything which is slightly off color, but that is not the real flavor of the card. The real flavor is converting creatures into other resources, which is very, very black(do I even need to bother listing examples?). Mutilate is not a 'destroy all creatures' card, it is an 'all creatures get -X/-X card' which is a black effect, not a white one. Yes, most of the time Mutilate will kill everything, but not always and that's the key difference.
Ignoring the flavor, historically it should still be obvious that 'destroy all creatures' effects are 100% white:
And there are others. Would these be white if Wrath of God wasn't around? That's a moot point. It's like asking "Would counters be blue without Counterspell in alpha?" or "What if disenchant was red in alpha?".
Not really MB. Black can't typicaly kill Black because it's selfish. It won't hurt itself; is a demon really scared of another demon? This has been referenced in quite a few articles, including Maro's color article and the previous head designer, in the article about why Black lost so many mechanics (name escapes me at the moment).
The most important thing to address however is your last statement, that if *** wasn't around...actually, you prove my point more than yours! Let's look at the following four cards:
All have, essentialy, the same effect right? Wipe the board, except for maybe PW, since it hits only their creatures. But all four have a few things in common:
1. Destroying creatures, potentially all.
2. Being Black, in that the 'cost' to play the card carries a high price.
3. Most importantly, not being reliant on each other in any way.
That's the difference between *** and it's variants vs. Black and it's variants. Imagine if PW was the baseline standard...if it didn't exist does that hurt or help the chances of either one of the three remaining to exist? No. You don't have to have one to have the other. That is called great design.
Now look at ***. Almost every single one of the cards you printed relies on the same thing as ***: destroy all creatures, can't be regenerated + something lame (imo). Regardless, it CLOSES design space and is BORING. They only exist becasue *** exists. And *** exists why? Because it always has. Not good enough. From a flavor, power, design and mechanical perspective, *** just isn't White. Look at it like this:
Compared to this list, what does White have? *** and all it's higher CMC variants. White gets some variants, granted, like Cataclysm, Balancing Act, etc but those are SYMMETRY effects, not mass removal. Just becasue you as a player BREAK that symmetry to make it mass removal doesn't mean it is. Just look at Cataclysm, that is SO White. EVERYONE gets one thing. But since I'm White, my one thing will probably be better. Balance and symmetry effects is what White SHOULD have, that is White's flavor.
And let's not forget all the enchantment effects like Lethal Vapors, Spreading Plague, No Mercy, etc. Many people don't know that these cards exist. Why? ***.
Finally, one more example. Cleanse. That's a White card. Tivadar's Crusade. That's a White Card. Perish. That's a Black card. Wait, where's the White equivalent hoser? Does it exist? I couldn't find it on Gatherer, so I could be wrong. And to top it all off, Cleanse morphs into Wrath of God, an almost strictly superior card. At one point, was *** seen as overcosted, given the existence of Cleanse? Who knows, doubtful, they didn't look at things like that then, or so WotC says.
Just look at that list of Black cards. From just about every perspective, Damanation has come HOME. Absent ***, maybe they can FINALLY start doing something with White BALANCE/SYMMETRY effects at CMC 4. The ONLY reason Black has never been seen as the rightful king of mass removal, especally creature removal, is because. of. one. card. Lame.

I feel sorry for those people who plays mono green aggro or mono white aggro...most people who plays this decks here are those new players who wanted to play competitively by using simple and easy type kind of decks without spending much. I wonder if this would be good for mtgo for i think this new players would be disappointed on playing mtg with two wraths running around..making their decks totally uncompetitive. I am betting that they will only let one of this stick around when ravnica rolls out. The sooner people realize that symmetry/balance effects are White, not necessarily mass removal, the sooner this will make sense. Just because YOU as the player break the symmetry to BE mass removal, doesn't make it White.

But, there isn't a difference between destroying one of something and several of it.
Black makes you discard one card, or makes everyone discard several.
Black kills one thing, and already kills everything too.
Blue makes you draw a card, or everyone draw several.
Blue bounces one thing, or everything.
Red deals damage to one thing, or everything.
Red kills one land, or all (ok, a lot of) lands.
Green pumps one thing, or everything.

If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.

White kills everything... but not one thing. Odd man out?
