With the newest transforming land I have run into a bit of a rule snafoo, and just to make sure if I am wrong or not I wanted to make it clear to myself.
So we got this land.
Vale of (???)'s Abbey
T: Add C to your mana pool
5, T, pay 1 life : put a 1/1 white and black Human Cleric creature token onto the battlefield.
5, T sacrifice five creatures : Transform Vale of (???)'s Abbey, then untap it.
And it becomes...
Ormendahl, Prince of profanes
Legendary creature - Demon
(black)
Flying, lifelink, indestructible, haste
9/7
Now if I have Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest out and I activate the land to transform am I able to order the stack appropriately so that Ormendahl has the 5 +1/+1 counters on him from sacrificing 5 creatures? I was told because it is an activated ability it would go on the stack first, but can you not order the effects as you would like?

Here's how it works:
You announce the Ormendahl ability, and pay its costs. It goes on the stack. Then, all of the triggers go on the stack above it. The process of announcing the ability is one atomic action, so the triggers cannot go on the stack until the ability is already on the stack. This means that unfortuantely, Ormendahl will not be transformed until after the +1/+1 counter abilities have resolved.

Well that's a shame. That's what I get for not doing my homework. Oh well, still decent enough for Mazirek at least. Thanks for the help there.
Yes, but if you use an animating effect on the land, the set P/T would also overwrite Ormendahl's 9/7 P/T. So use a temporary thing if you want that huge 9/7 body working for you - bad play to use an Awaken effect.
Animating the land before it transforms is a bit of a problem, but so long as the animation effect is a "until end of turn" effect you should be good, so long as you don't mind your Demon having a low P/T the first turn you get it. Both Kamahl, Fist of Krosa and Natural Affinity might be worth trying since they can temporarily animate multiple lands and in a pinch can animate your excess lands to sacrifice to transform the Abbey.
