I had an interesting discussion about these today, and I'm hoping someone can either confirm or deny my interpretation.
I attack with Kaalia of the Vast and choose to put Aurelia into play. Aurelia doesn't trigger here because she's not declared an attacker, she's put into play already attacking.
This time when I attack with Aurelia, I believe she does trigger. I base this on the fact that she wasn't declared as an attacker the first time, so she didn't "attack" even though she was an attacking creature.
Can anyone confirm this for me?
Card text:
Aurelia, the Warleader
Legendary Creature - Angel
Flying, vigilance, haste
Whenever Aurelia, the Warleader attacks for the first time each turn, untap all creatures you control. After this phase, there is an additional combat phase.
Where Razia was aloof and untouchable, Aurelia is on the frontlines, calling for war.
3/4
You're right to think that Aurelia didn't "attack", because that specifically means "declared as an attacker", which you didn't do.
However, that causes another problem in your example. Relentless Assault only untaps creatures that "attacked", so it won't untap the friends brought in by Kaalia. Even though Aurelia has vigilance, she can't attack if she's tapped. She does have haste, so if you use an effect that can untap her (Aggravated Assault or Savage Beating will work), she'll be able to attack again in the second combat phase.

In my second main phase I cast relentless assault.
