I'm switching to calling them tangos. While the name is stupid, I just realized that my previous idea of baselands is even worse because fetch/base manabases sounds terrible.

You are on the right path with Baselands.

Of course you need three lands to use the Tango reference. The Tango land is a couples dance instructor. Basic lands don't know how to dance, that's why there basic, they only know one thing.

I believe splashlands is the best. It doesn't care whether there are exactly two basics (intended tangolands reference) or not and the name is self-explanatory. That's because monocolored decks can use them to splash one (and even two!) colors effortlessly, while 2-3 colored decks are better off without them, as meeting the requirement won't be worth it (messing with your mana base to play 2 basics into this? Just use the shocks and checks man).
Any thoughts?

I have two problems with the "tangolands" title: 1) I'll want to pronounce it the Spanish way and 2) it's a little silly. However, the name is easy to remember, unambiguous, and appears to be approaching critical mass.
I voted for Tangolands.
But I like Latelands. They like to arrive late, but they are not slow cause they enter untapped (unlike the Slowlands from kamigawa)
Laglands works for me. Rolls off the tongue perfectly. Easy to remember. Self-explanatory. It really shouldn't require any explanation whatsoever -- I won't be using "tango" any time soon unless the whole LGS scene gets in the loop.
Tangolands is probably the worst idea ever conceived in the history of MTG in terms of nicknames. Seriously who dances in the MTG audience and I mean real dancing.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Honestly I think Tangolands sounds dumb and I've heard so many people mistake it for tanglelands. I honestly think Crowdlands makes the most sense, reflects what they do, and doesn't sound dumb or easily misheard.
Also, inorganically deciding a nickname as a community is way out of the spirit of nicknaming. The thread shouldn't be a poll, it should be asking "what are you calling the new dual lands?".

The more I think about it, the less tango lands make sense to me.
I mean, it takes 2 to tango, but basic land + basic land + this new land = 3, not 2. IF the tangoing is "the new land coming in untapped," of course, then I get it, but outside of that, I am really having trouble understanding how that name makes sense.

Cause you either have to go on a trip(play/have 2 lands) or it gets tripped.
These are literally checklands but requiring two basics rather than one of either of two basic types.
1. 2-ba = 2 basics, a direct reference to its ability (ie not a language specific idiomatic catchphrase)
2. tuba is part of a band. you need more than 1 to form a band. so tubaland and 2 basics form such a band.
