Yeah Legendary, Enchantment and Creature all have there downside for removal spells but odds are they won't print that card when it matters...who else will main deck naturalize now? I think it's the most flavorful set since Innistrad
My hype levels are somewhat high for this. I liked Greek mythology as a kid and read quite a fair bit about it. When I got into Magic, I liked enchantments and felt they needed more love.
So to see a set that combines the two makes me both happy and sad: happy because it's two great things in one set, sad because my budget is too small to afford splurging on Theros stuff.
I'm excited that we seem to have more playable mythics than any set in recent memory, but that's dampened by the fact that I won't be able to get all the ones I want right out of the gate since many of them are looking to be money cards.

Wow, its the most flavorful set since the last block with top-down design. I never would have guessed.
My excitement started out high, but it has continued to get lower. There is too much overcosted stuff, there are no spoiled cards that care about enchantments except for Commune with the Gods (and yet we have 3 things that stop them), and the scrylands are really annoying. However, Steam Augury is pretty good, so I have more faith than I did before it was confirmed.
Very excited as, thanks to recently winning the lottery, I will be one of the only players who can afford a play set of Lightning Strike apparently. I imagine that will translate into a lot of undeserved wins.

Much more excited since I just finally got my Fridays back off of work. Though its tough trying to talk my wife into spending the money on preordering lands and such for me and my son.
I've always defined myself as a man who just thought that Demeter liked the taste of human flesh so to see my favorite card game just barely glance by something so integral for me is leaving me a little frustrated. So I am talking about it. It is looking like it won't happen. Otherwise, the set looks excellent. The play experience with the new cards seems to promise to very rich, as it has been with all the recent sets.
I want to revote damn it! More cards spoiled = change in opinion. Idea! Stop putting out polls 70 cards in!

I was excited about Theros when it was first announced. Why? Because I _love_ Hydras! Also one of my all-time favourite cards was/is Visara. She's a Gorgon and yay me, Gorgons also appear in Greek Mythology. So I was pumped to find out what nice Hydras and Gorgons would wait for us/me.
Now I'm hugely dissappointed.. I mean come on... Is there really a chance, that Polukranos, Reaper and Hythonia will be Standard-playable? I didn't think so either..

I think that Reaper of the Wilds is the most solid card of the three you listed. Polukranos isn't too shabby himself.
They're pushing for minotaurs, but that's coz it's fan-requested. As for gorgons, it's probably harder to do. Gorgons are introverts and act on their own... Definitely poor choice for tribal.

Ofc it's a poor choice for tribal! All I wanted was having two to three playable Hydras and Gorgons. Being powerful on their own and maybe even legendary (at least that criteria is met by Polukranos and Hythonia...). Now we have two ****ty mythics no-one needs and the Reaper, which is an "ok"-rare with "ok"-stats, but not nearly as powerful as I was hoping for...

Reaper is solid, no question. But the 4-Drop slot of Golgari is already crowded! You have Deadbridge Goliath, Desecration Demon, Jarad and Corpsejack Menace.. where does Reaper fit in? As for Polukranos: if he had trample, ok. But in that form... You need five mana to kill off a creature with toughness 2.. And it isn't even repeatable! Even if you combo him with Nylea's Bow and ping the enemy board for one per creature (which he's unlikely to survive) he's big but can be chumped easily. To me Hythonia and Polukranos are on the same "mythic"-level as Maze's End...
So far I'm more interested in what standard will look like once the set hits than I am in the set itself. The gods look interesting to play with, but aside from that there aren't a lot of cards that jump out at me as something I really want to get into play or build around. For halfway through the spoiler, I wouldn't say it's that bad though.
Last night's spoilers were definitely a low point so far
I'm a sucker for WB and the Triads of the Fate just aren't very exciting (not terrible though)
The R one-drop is going to be a solid card but I don't really do aggro...
It's weird how one night of spoilers that don't do anything actually affects my excitement level: I mean all the cool stuff from before is still there and the cool deck ideas I've had are still viable but today I'm just as excited...
I think the excitement level is skewed as people are always more excited for the first set in a block. In my mind "Are you excited for the Theros block?" would be a better question.

Seeing as how I've actually liked 1, maybe 2 cards in the set so far. My excitement level is pretty low. I realize many of the cards are going to see play, I just don't like them.
