Well I was only slightly excited, but then more and more stuff I saw and discussed with my son I am now stoked for this. I am planning on a WR deck and he is wanting to run RG Hydras since we pulled a Kalonian the other day.

The only plus point I'll give to them is the amount of recursive playability.
The hallmark of any good limited set is judged by the amount of unplayables in the 12th-14th picks.
ROE and Innistrad (without Dark Ascension) are prime examples of good limited environments. They have little chaffs, like less than 5% of the set not counting lands.
Gatecrash is the worst offender. As do Avacyn Restored.
I wish everyone gets a re-vote. I'm sure the results will differ after the full spoiler. That'll be a stronger indication.
Just go start up a NEW POLL thread in a week and title it: "Post-Release Opinion of Theros" or somesuch. No one would mind.

I am less excited about Theros now that the set is fully spoiled.
Literally every set that has ever been spoiled has had infinite "last 100 cards are filler so now I think the set sucks" posts. This. Is. How. Sets. Are. And. Have. Always. Been.
It's as if when a new set comes out people completely forget about the fact that every set that came before it was also filled with a lot of, wait for it... filler.
I'm always excited for new Magic Cards. Especially September/October Sets. Especially ones with a lot of powerful cards. Especially ones with a lot of flavorful cards.
I am more excited than for most sets. This is the third most excited for a set I have been, after Rise of the Eldrazi and Innistrad.
I also realized that I actually want a lot of the cards in this set. When M14 came out, I thought it looked like fun to draft (and it was), but the only cards from it I actually wanted were Strionic Resonator and Chandra.
Here, I want the scry lands, the gods, the god's weapons, and a bunch of other cards. This set also looks super solid for limited with a great depth of playables and a number of interesting strategies.
I'm slightly more excited for this set than others if only for the fact that it's top-down. This flavor is stealing my heart!
Innstrad, Scars, and Return to Rav were all Top Down too. I'm honestly at the point where I'd rather see a narrowly focused bottom up set instead of the growing trend of "THIS PLANE IS SO COOL LETS DO ALL OF THE THINGS."

Flavor and art is superb. The actual cards themselves are extremely bad, and Theros picks up the Awful Card Design Torch that Dragon's Maze and M14 started.

Theros is perfect storming for me.

This is going to be great.
