Cards like this always get a lot of hype, but almost always fail to deliver. I don't this one is different. People think of this as kind of a combo kill card, but it's too fragile and not powerful enough for that, imo.
OK I love the mechanics/flavor of the card. Seems like he could be really fun to play with. I guess my question is this, if you run a B/R aggro deck, oft times, if your gonna win at all it will be before turn 5 anyway. Further, cards like Aristocrat and Olivia come down a turn sooner, and are really just better.
Casual or EDH might give this guy a home but other than that I don't see much use for him. It just seems like there are a lot better ways to skin the proverbial cat.

What makes you think it's run in aggro?
Guys. You don't have to build around this card.
Drop it into a B/r control shell and you're done.
While I think Olivia is better, this guy is viable.
He also has niche advantages over Olivia in that he can't be Speared, is an alternate wincon if Olivia gets hit with Slaughter Games or named with Nevermore, and doesn't require extra mana investment to get there.
Oh, and he isn't going to rotate in 6 months. Bonus.
Very nicely designed card. and mythic fits it too and we have glaring spotlight . A little discard/mass denial/LD/etc. and this guy with spotlight. Then gut shot to the face! lol

Not playable? The card that basically says "When this card deals combat damage to a player, that player loses the game" is not playable? Trust me, this card is not only playable but will see at least a decent amount of play in Type 2, not to mention EDH.
First of all, that's not what the card says. You can still come back even if you are at one. Sure, they could finish you off with burn, but that's almost the reverse of the "it dies do X" argument that also applies to this creature.
The thing that is good about this card, is it's a creature that will kill anything in combat on the ground. First strike, death touch is no joke. So you could throw this card down and block anything and live... or go on the attack and force them to block this dude or they put themselves at a big disadvantage by being at one.
This needed 5 toughness to be standard playable I think.
Not really, first strike + death touch means that you'll kill most blockers before they can deal damage. The only burn spell that can deal with it is Mizzium Mortars. Even decks playing Advent of the Wurm will have some trouble dealing with them. Definitely a card worth experimenting with, like people have already said, a perfect card for Grixis or WBR control build.
Now, you don't need to wait for Vraska, the Unseen to use her ultimate. He is pretty much like Vraska's assasin. Use him, attack, and then Fling or Skullcrack. Love this card.
1st has everyone forgotten that cards like Olivia and Falkenrath Aristocratic are gone once the fall block starts? Jund decks are gonna be losing a lot of power cards and this one may just fill a slot very well. Play it then the next turn Mizzium Mortar all their creatures and walk in for almost the win, one burn and they are done. In Grixis with Ral it's a sick mini combo, Rogues Passage was never awesome but it isn't bad. I use it in a block deck to get Vraska tokens through for a win.
But in this current standard, I'm using Artful Dodge to slip it through then Pillar or Spear to win all for 3 mana or less. Having a Hellraiser Goblin in play can lead to some hastee fun and Havoc Festival can keep your opponent from coming back from the brink. Also at 4 toughness you could play a Mutilate for 3 hopefully clearing the board and then drop your opponent to 1 with a 0/1 demon, that ones less likely to work but damn it would be funny to drop your opponent to 1 with a 0/1.
1st strike+Deathtouch kills anything that's not 1st strike itself or indestructible, no matter how big and it even stops trample. Its a lethal combo I have loved since I believe the Invasion set when Voracious Cobra came out, but that was before deathtouch.
2nd Desecration Demon is awesome, it just hasn't seen play because currently there are better cards at the CC in standard. But again come this fall that 6/6 flyer for 4 mana will turn some heads. I played it in my Jund, before I got the more expensive cards for it, and with Jarad Golgari Lich Lord it's even meaner. Let them sac a creature to tap it, once it gets a little bigger fling it with Jarad's ability for massive life loss. I had a kid tap it down till it was a 14/14 then in one turn played Jarad and flung the demon for the win. Plus outside of a dedicated token/populate deck there aren't to many decks that can just keep throwing creatures at it to tap it down indefinitely.
Grixis Control with this guy is just going to be deadly. Grixis Control already has the best spot removal in the game (Ultimate Price, Victim of the Night, Dreadbore, Burn based spells, blue bounce spells, Olivia herself). So keeping the board clear is fairly easy, this guy will allow you to blast through, drop them to 1, then use Devil's Play for the win.

rancor maybe not so much, but trample + this is pretty much good game, glad you bounced that thragtusk so many times.
Read the card has to not be blocked has nothing to do with doing damage.

Have you read the replies in this thread?
Imagine you play against rakdos aggro that has this in play. Do you throw away a creature every turn or do you risk dying?

Why exactly? Doesn't make much sense. he already lives via mizzum and spear. He beats any creature in combat with firststrike and deathtouch.

Mizzium Mortars ??
The same Mortus Strider that's showing up in all the top decks?
Constructed playable? I'm not sure if 1/4 for 5 mana is strong enough but first strike and deathtouch certainly helps a ton.
