Haste
When ~ enters the battlefield, it gets +2/+2 until end of turn.
2/2

A decent card, but I fear Boros has too much of a glut of low- to mid-range creature that are better. I like the flavor of the card and it's a pretty decent effect, I just don't see myself putting it in my Standard or Modern Boros decks.
Comes in as a 5/5 haste for 1RW, then gets the +2/+2 again if you ever activate the Initiative's ability.

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
This is another awesome-for-limited common three drop, the other being the Nivix Cyclops. Battalion enabler, surprise finisher, and decent blink/bounce target, all in one sexy little lizard warrior. I wonder if this heralds any other beastly limited commons priced at 3 in the set.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
This guy is insane, even in constructed. Compare him to the 4 power hasters running around. This guy comes down on turn 3 and does 4. On turn 4 he does 2, on turn 5 he does 2. That's the same 8 damage that a 4 cmc haste creature does by turn 5.
Then there's always a main phase restoration angel to buff him again.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Definitely a nice card in its own right that benefits from Maro's love affair with flicker effects. The problem is that resetting it to make it 4/4 again is not worth a card, or even near it since at that point you're paying for a sorcery-speed +2/+2 pump spell.
That means blinking it is only really good with restoration angel, and then only if you don't have better targets. His creature type is unfortunate in that he won't trigger Champion of the Parish when blinked, and I think boros aggro's best shot for viability is a humans deck so I don't think this will see much play.
Reminds me of, strangely enough, Flametongue Kavu. The differences are, 1) your opponent gets to choose what takes the damage (which creature blocks/doesn't) and 2) FTK is 4 mana and leaves behind a 4/2 body, this is 3 mana in 2 colors and leaves behind a 2/2 body.
Won't see play in Standard, but Block is another matter.

Not sure that's enough to make it viable in constructed but for limited if i'm in those colours i'll definitely be playing/picking this.

really? i thought counterspells and islands were

A nice, neat, and simple design with an interesting card title.

Big Johnny.
He costs 3. So much good stuff in Boros colors sit at 3.
Not sure if he fits.
Very strong common for Boros in limited however, very very good.
He's got a good chance of seeing block constructed play, not an unreasonable card to play in standard if you're doing some sort of stompy FNM deck.
Hell, he's like a weird variant on Thundermaw and Falkenrath and FLinthoof boar. Pretty nice top deck, and can somtimes be Char FTW.
Silverblade Paladin makes everything better.
I think I would just rather go with Skyknight Legionnaire over this.
Also has a relevant creature type.
I, too, hope for a cycle of pushed, enemy-colored (EDIT: COMMON) 3 drops in Dragon's Maze.
Izzet: Nivix Cyclops
Boros: Viashino Firstblade
Simic: ???
Orzhov: ???
Golgari: ???
One might dream big and hope for representatives from every guild, but that seems a little much even for me, with the current cards spoiled.
Izzet: Nivix Cyclops Goblin Test Pilot (oh come on, he's fun!)
Boros: Viashino Firstblade
Simic:
Orzhov: Sin Collector
Golgari:
Unless you count Varolz, the Scar-Striped and Vorel of the Hull Clade in the Golgari and Simic slots
I mostly play pauper, so that excludes Sin Collector and Goblin Test Pilot (ha). I should have specified that I meant commons.
