I wish it was a 2/1 :/ . Not sure what to think of this card though, can't tell how good it will be.
edit:
Do you guys think this would be playable in a RDW shell? and what about Izzet Delver as another 1 drop either to compliment or take the place of delver of secrets
This is an interesting card, doesn't seem that good in any format unless we get some weird combo (one that puts a lot of things on the stack, but none of those things are useful).
Basically this turns every instant or sorcery you have into a charm - either go with the spell's original ability or "put two +1/+1 counters on this guy".. Seems insane with phyrexian mana, maybe even something to look into in Modern.
Wow that guy would have been nuts with the Phyrexian spells. I'm not sure what to think of him either... but he seems really strong. One spell = 3/4? Turn 2 attacking? That's kind of cool.
Would have been much better with Phyrexian mana cards. Serves a similar (but different) purpose to Quirion Dyrad in the UG Delver deck. I need to sleep on this card before I can say if it's terrible or not.
Question: If you have this card and play a bunch of "Pact of " cards and you exile them so they don't resolve, do they still make you lose the game? I think not right?
Definitely running this in my w/u deck. This card has a possibility to be a very good one drop on turn 1, if you can use an instant or a sorcery 1 drop, and then exile it to put counters on this guy. I think over-all this card could see some pretty awesome play when it comes to one-drop creatures/decks.
I mean, who wouldn't want a 3/4 on turn 2?
(The possibility of dropping one on turn 1 as well as turn 2 would be absolutely amazing.)
Hmm...if it was exile an instant or sorcery from your graveyard for 2 +1+1 counters it would be incredibly stronger, im a little confused as to whether or not i like it but it and Talrand, sky summoner have to be friends.

Not sure losing a card is worth the extra p/t. Can't even flashback any of those spells.
Seems like counterspell protection and redundancy for Guttersnipe-based decks. And it's a sweet mechanic that we've never seen before, with lots of possibilities likely lurking below the surface. Which are always super fun to build with!
Now, about that $20 price tag on ebay... yeah I'm waiting on this one.

I'm feeling a nice modern card in this one with phyrexian mana, swing in with it, if it goes unblocked, throw a few phyrexian "free" spells on it like gutshot or mutagenic growth to grab a little (or potentially a lot) extra damage. Eats worthless spells in game one as well. I like it personally... also, these could just be very optimistic speculations.
If there's any sort of playable spells that protect a creature from removal (X gets protection from a color of your choice, etc) this will be solid against those cards.

You're correct: the "next turn you lose the game" clause would never kick in, since the spell never resolved.
Also, I can't help but think that we may see some sort of weird Izzet instant/sorcery that in addition to doing something on resolution, has an effect when it's cast. That would make for an exquisite little interaction!

Snapcaster Mage could always help. But even then you might just be using a simple ponder or some random one drop blue or white instant/sorcery that probably doesn't do much to begin with.
I would be using this in a Legacy stand-point, btw.
This with any decently cheap flashback cards is going to be so much fun, but otherwise I don't think it's quite worth the hype. He'll be fun for sure, and I'm sure he'll be broken by someone. Otherwise, he's just a fun trick.

This card is all kinds of interesting. The bonus is permanent, meaning you could be hitting with a 3/4 on turn 2 (which is certainly not to be underestimate) and you can turn any cheap spell you have into a combat trick. This is a really cool Red/Blue creature, pushing you to play more spells, and to make some difficult choices.

Wow. I'm excited to see this against counterspells.

But this is a very original design, I like it!

Love the self-referential flavor text. I don't think Wizards has any idea exactly how good this is going to be.

I doubt it's going to be that good. It cost you a card, that you have to cast, has very little protection from removal and no evasion at all.
