I chose Izzet at my first pre-release and pulled 5 Lobber Crews with 9 various counter spells and actually pulled an Izzet as well. Not once did I pull Izzet, but every game I had at least 3 Lobber Crews on the board and let all the counters keep the board clear and if something made it through Izzet Charm was my friend. 0/4 walls that plink and untap to spells for the win.

I love to trade, but please be fair. I won't waste your time and hope you won't waste mine.
Saturday: Rakdos Rix Maadi Guildmage - With 4 or more mana available there is almost never a good block and not blocking means extra damage taken. There is no good choice other than removing the Guildmage
2x Traitorous Instinct - Removing a blocker and getting an extra attacker with +2/+0 for the turn was always relevant in a Rakdos aggro deck. My two best targets were Niv-Mizzet and the 8/8 token, though it won a few more games stealing weaker creatures.
Sunday: Rakdos
3x Rakdos Shred-Freak - I wasn't sure how good these would be until I played them. I had enough removal to allow at least 1 Shred-Freak to get in 6-10 damage per game.
2x Stab Wound - Killed as many people as Traitorous Instinct did on Saturday while also being a decent removal spell when needed.

I didn't have any blowout bombs in my deck. I lucked out and pulled a second Carnival Hellsteed from my packs, so those were able to do a lot of the heavy lifting. Augur Spree was very, very useful, although I almost never played it on my own creatures since removal seemed so sparse.
I wound up splashing Blue in my Rakdos build for Jace, Architect of Thought. He was good for stalling a little, since the Rakdos mana curve was so damned high.
Deathrite Shaman for me, easily
Never has a 1cc prevented or done so much damage
This is exactly what I wanted to say. I know that Standard may have too much removal and not enough lands hitting the GY for him to really shine, but man was I impressed with how much effect this little guy could have on games.
Collective Blessing. Pretty sure it's the best limited card in the set, no dice. Splashed double green for it in Azorius.
As for something that can be pulled with more consistency, New Prahv Guildmage. Both abilities are just bonkers, especially because you can repetitively detain.
As for something that I feel is underrated, that would go to both Inaction Injunction and Dramatic Rescue. Originally was running just 1 of the Rescue, quickly upped it to 2. Killing tokens or just slowing down opponents was really good. The Injunctions were crucial in so many games.
As for that common that is obviously amazing that I don't see people talking about enough, Centaur Healer. Was also part of the green splash in Azorius, and it was just backbreaking versus any kind of aggro. Negating previous and future progress is almost too much.
Stab Wound. Twice was it put on my 2/3 flyer in the first game of a match. Twice I lost. I had to side out my <3 toughness guys that didn't have major board impact because Stab Wound was so effective. I was forced into hyper aggressive plays or using good removal on my own guy (always too late to matter) to stop the bleeding every turn.

Modern - RUG Delver RUG - Splinter Twin UR - Jund BRG

Foreigning out SI, currently 33/75. The only thing better than a T1 kill is doing it with cards no one has ever heard of and/or can't read. If anyone has any of the usual pieces, PM me. I'm willing to buy/trade.
I lost every game a pack rat resolved turn 2 on my opponent's side. This card is really stupid. It's been a long time since i saw a card in limited that recquires you to deal with the moment it hits the table or you die. Things get even worse with a turn one Drainpipe Vermin
I'm considering playing it in standard in tokens.dec
I came in 4th out of 65 running GW with lots of populate and not enough token makers.
I was able to win by making sure games went long, and thus a huge card for me, which showed up early an often, was Tablet Of The Guilds (or something).
Normally I am as likely as you to shun life gain cards like this, but with the 3/3 gain life centaur I gained 5 and with Heroes Reunion (another card I would normally avoid) it said "gain 9"!
For keeping me alive until I could rip the 8/8 manland or the Trostoni's 6cost kill spell I needed, the Tablet gets my MVP.
For the Conclave!

Oh and in 2HG side events, there are stupid cards with "each opponent" clause, like guttersnipe (my team lost like 12-16 life to it before we killed it), Jarad, golgari lich lord (finished us off with a sacced 6 power for 12 to the dome) and skull rend, which single-handedly destroyed our game-plan. MVPs all go the my opponent as me and my friends all did poorly
Stab wound was bonkers, I went Selesnya for my guild back but played Junk (GWB) and won the event with it. The Collective Blessing was usually what made my opponents scoop. I had Deadbrige Goliath, both the Golgari and Selesnya guild mages, pack rats, Jarad's Orders, a temple garden and a Dreg Mangler.
I did go against 2 other Selesnya based decks with better pulls them myself. But my deck was pretty nuts.

How did you come across decks with "better pulls"? You probably pulled the two best cards in the format, and a tutor for one of them.
Tablet of the Guilds won me a couple of games. Playing Rakdos I was all out attacking with my unleashed creatures more than not and I came back multiple times from 1 life. Life gain is really, really good if you are playing aggressively and are playing multicolored spells. I think people forget why the lucky charms were bad: Either you had to play (1) or you only gained one life from one color. Sealed I had plenty of multicolored spells, so I was gaining two about half the time.
My only Stab Wound in the sealed pool killed more than a couple of players. The goal is of course to get in early with Rakdos, but frequently I was under pressure late game from some big guys.
Underworld Connections won me a few games as well. With the Tablet for life gain and a couple of lifelink creatures I had the freedom to draw almost every turn.
Rakdos Charm seemed pretty weak but I did do a lot of damage with it, and destroyed an artifact at one point.
Cryptborn Horror was fairly decent if I was ahead but I think I would have preferred a vanilla 3/3 instead at some points.
I had a tough time deciding which 6 CC spells to put in since I pulled so many. Hardly anything good at 4-5 CC in my pool.
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice was a house. The Synergy of the deck as a whole was just outstanding. Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage (GW) did alot of work too as expected. The card can win the game by itself.
2HG: Rakdos/Selesnya
Rakdos is easily the best choice for 2HG. Guttersnipe and, in particular, Skull Rend do so much work. 5 for 1? Ok...
I cut 3 Korozda Guildmages (GB) for consistancy and dont regret it.
Slum Reaper was also very good to remove anything early on and continue beats.
