I have no idea if it's real or not, but I find it funny that the card is apparently only worth $11. I think buyers are staying away because they're having the same problem the OP is having - they're not sure it's real!
If it were real, it would easily fetch $25 and up.
The card has started going up though since it was spoiled I believe it was on Monday. Was going for about $10 each. Now its up to $12-$13. I could see it hitting $15. I doubt we will see it at $25 though. Its good, but not insane. Its a 5-drop thats easy to kill (no relevant protections from any sort of removal), it doesnt have any evasion aside from flying so it gets chump blocked all day long, and while it can certainly be hard to kill in creature combat, and is a great defensive creature. It doesnt have vigilance and thus cannot both attack and block. Its a very good, but balanced for the current format creature.
Edit: And that said, since this thread was seemingly, if by looking at the title, about whether baneslayer angel was real or not, and its been confirmed to be real, though this thread has gone on to analyze other things as well. Perhaps it could be closed since its primary purpose has been solved. This is just a suggestion of course :).
Its a 5-drop thats easy to kill (no relevant protections from any sort of removal), it doesnt have any evasion aside from flying so it gets chump blocked all day long,
Chumped blocked by... Bitterblossom tokens? Spectral Procession tokens? They do exist in finite terms, and as such "all day" is hardly relevant. The amount of life gain you could potentially end up having after a Faeries player has chumped your Angel for 3-4 turns will probably be enough to keep you in the game for awhile, if not enough time to land a 2nd one on the board.
The card is a 5/5 with a commanding board presence. It doesn't die to Bituminous Blast. Read that again. It doesn't die to Bituminous Blast. This card will see play in Standard.
You have been warned.
Now this is a good way to look at the card. Though Baneslayer has no immediate card advantage, it demands attention. If your opponent can not answer it the following turn, it is likely going to start winning you the game. The fact it doesn't die to Bit Blast is hugely important, as Bit has proved itself to be an absolutely amazing card in both Limited and Constructed. As much as people like to tote Terminate, it has seen less play than expected, as more often than not decks that could support it are supporting Maelstrom Pulse and Bit Blast (Jund decks, as solid Red/Black isn't so popular since it doesn't get to run Bloodbraid Elf), meaning your opponent probably only has 4 answers to a Baneslayer at the ready. Protection from Demons is largely irrelevant, but Protection from Dragons means she attacks through Broodmates all day long (not that First Strike isn't lending a hand there as well), making her one of the best finishers in the format to counter a creature that might very well be the best finisher in the format.
At 6 mana, Baneslayer would have probably been playable. At 5 mana, it is particularly strong, and will probably be the finisher of choice in most White decks for the next year.
I wasn't playing during the broken shenanigans of Saga or Mirrodin. Oddly enough I started playing right after Saga then quit when Mirrodin came out. I just got back in with Alara block.
It was heavily played for as long as Mirrodin was in Standard, on Tooth and Nail/Urzatron decks. It had plenty of relevance across pretty much every constructed format, so your comparison is still not valid.
I wasn't playing during the broken shenanigans of Saga or Mirrodin. Oddly enough I started playing right after Saga then quit when Mirrodin came out. I just got back in with Alara block.
Why are you facepalming when Rick was completely correct? In Standard, Colossus was in every deck (because every deck ran Tooth and Nail, if you'd play it, you'd realize it doesn't need Tinker)... that was after Affinity got shafted, right before the block rotated out. It was a nightmare... turn 4 Plow Under against EVERY single deck... ugh, bad memories, man.
Doesn't Esper have ways to cheat colossus into play fairly easily nowdays?
Eh, not really.
Anyways, I've already bought a playset of Baneslayer Angels and am going to replace Exalted Angel with them in my Extended decks. This card is amazing.

I ****ing hate this card. This is my least favorite card ever.
"Let's completely obsolete a classic card in the same set because we have a new money-grabbing rarity to play with. Oh, and it'll pave the way for that 20/20 for 1 in Zendikar because it's OK as long as it dies to removal."
Knock off the power creep, Wizards. This is why I don't buy Magic any more.

You sort of answered yourself a bit in your post. You call Serra Angel a "classic card". The same way that something like the moxes, lotus, time walk, and other overly powerful spells from the origins of magic no longer work from a powerlevel perspective in magic. Is the same reason why serra angel, which was considered a good creature in its day because creatures overall couldnt hold a candle to the power of the other spells available, is no longer the staple it once was. I havent seen it played in tournaments for years. Why? Because creatures are now having their time in the sun and their powerlevel is being brought up in line with the other spells that are available to use. As creatures got more powerful, serra angel remained the same. These days Serra Angel can no longer be used as the baseline for a "good" 5 cost mono-white creature. They put it down to uncommon because thats where it now lies in the grand scheme of things when it comes to white creatures in this day and age.
Comparitively, when putting serra angel at uncommon, when you look at baneslayer angel, you get +1+1, first strike, lifelink, and a couple of situational protections but lose vigilance. Going from uncommon to mythic I see it as reasonable for it to gain the abilities it does. The card is good and will certainly be the cornerstone for the high powerlevel for 5 cost white creatures for years to come, just as akroma was to higher cost white creatures when it came out. The card however is not broken by any means. It still costs 5 mana to cast, and outside of mono-white, or perhaps two-color decks with a large emphasis on white, I dont see it seeing play, or seeing decks purposefully splashing that color in order to play it.
Classic Iconic cards like serra angel, shivan dragon, etc should be allowed to stay as they really show where magic has come from, from a flavor perspective, but games must evolve over time. Creatures are now getting their time in the sun, and thus cards like serra angel just arent what they used to be anymore, and in fact it really hasnt been for a good number of years.
Edit: As for the funny comments about having 20/20's for 1 mana. It wont happen. Now quit overreacting. Theres no need for that.
I have no idea if it's real or not, but I find it funny that the card is apparently only worth $11. I think buyers are staying away because they're having the same problem the OP is having - they're not sure it's real!

Care to gamble?
Hmm maybe, depending on the stakes. To be honest I think it can go down to single digit range. That Battlegrace angel costs around $2 ... even though this is a mythic rare, I doubt that it could be worth 12.5 times as much.
If everyone's so keen on this card, which is quite real, a magic pixie just may have dropped off a foil Baneslayer Angel in mint, pack fresh condition off next to me that I don't need hanging around.
Fortuitously enough, that same pixie dropped an Ajani Goldmane right next to the angel! (Alright, there was a basic land and token between them, lol)

battlegrace angel is a lot worse than baneslayer defensively because you can block and have lifelink aid you when you drop it, plus the first strike. it is being compared to exalted angel and rightfully so as it takes the same amount of time to kill an opponenet (i described that in an early post, its general though) so I do not think this will ever go lower than 20 dollars for a play set. people complain about powercreep but who wants wizards to make worse creatures? yeah you can make creatures different and work differently mechanically in the game but there will always be a general "power level" issue. look at tarma, when you try new things, abominations like that will occur. at first when i was writing my post about baneslayer, i was going to argue against it actually, but then the more i thought while i was writing i noticed its power, and how much you get out of it. fpeople want to argue about vigilance weakining it at such a high degree. i disagree, when this thing hits it does swing the game 10 points of life and if they are blocking it their creatures are probably dying and you are gaining life to make up for anything getting through. since you are playing white you are going to have defense anyway, you dont necessarily need to block. i think battle grace is only better when you drop it, and attack with a biggie, but that is situational. especially when you play a fatty on turn 4 and have it killed (yeah you should have other creatures, agreed). you drop battlegrace and it does you very little that turn and you have a 4/4 flying in play with nothing else (basically a serra for defense) to get hit by something like b blast, and we all know that almost anything can be terminated. when the game is a stale mate (which is a big case when you play white control. viable? ww wont need her) and you top deck this, you are probably going to win the game unless the opponent save/draws a removal. if they are saving a a removal for her then they are probably not using their resources correctly. only limited? no, i definelty think this will get much constructed play, you get a lot of bang ofr your buck.
.
It's not even the best 5 mana card in the set. Haunting Echoes is far more versatile and deadly. The Angel eats a removal, Echoes eats everything in your opponent's graveyard.
Which isn't to say the BaneslayerAngel is bad, because it's not.
But it won't break the game and let's not forget Serra Angel is still excellent in Limited. I'm fine with it being uncommon.
For most of the game's history, creatures have been underpowered compared to spells, and I'm glad they started to correct it, but now they've overcompensated a bit, I think. Wild Nacatl, Doran, Tarmogoyf, Woolly Thoctar, etc...these are a bit over the top. If it were up to me, the top of the power curve for these kinds of cards would be a little lower, like maybe a 4/4 for RGW.
That said, I don't think Baneslayer Angel is any big deal. Sure, it's pretty good and has a reasonable chance of seeing some Standard play once Lorwyn/Shadowmoor are no longer overshadowing it, but it really isn't that big a deal. The 6 drop soldier that makes three tokens impresses me more than this guy. Actually, I don't think any creature in M10 is really too undercosted. Magic is fun when big creatures are viable, so it's nice to have things like Broodmate Dragon around, since they clearly do not overpower and crowd out other strategies the way faster decks often do. M10 seems very well balanced to me, with the possible exception of Lightning Bolt, which isn't going to break the format anyways. I hope they keep up the good work.

Karma doesn't exist. You can't depend on it. If you count on it for justice or catharsis, you will find that you have placed your emotions on very unstable ground; and you will either repeat your disappointment in society over and over, or you will engage in a persistent delusion to protect yourself from that feeling.
When you can open 2 "uncommon" serra angels and they are happily smashing face for you in limited because that "mythic" biatchangel never showed up for you, believe me you won't even care if it's real or not. In limited you will hardly see this. For constructed you can buy it on the internet or trade it.

That pack reminds me of when I drafted Shardsx3 the first time. I opened Foil Elspeth and Sarkhan Vol, and obviously took the foil elspeth. And.... as long as were ranting. I love this card and I know it will see competitive play. a 5/5 flyer for 5 is good. Add lifelink/first strike is great. Add a random pro ability and its polished and flavorful and the art is great. Feels mythic to me.

I like this Angel... I look forward to using it vs my friends Dragon decks. Other than that I could see it used as a finisher in Standard maybe in some Control deck... or in EDH... and Casual tables all over but not much else.
Haha... that made me really laugh.
And.... as long as were ranting. I love this card and I know it will see competitive play. a 5/5 flyer for 5 is good. Add lifelink/first strike is great. Add a random pro ability and its polished and flavorful and the art is great. Feels mythic to me.
So it is
I expect it to hit $20, but that's just a personal prediction... we'll see.
