Nulltread Gargantuan1GU
Creature - Beast
When ~ comes into play, return a creature you control to the top of its owner's library.
5/6
Here is Mahamoti Djinn at 1UG, that lost flying and acquired the drawback of putting a creature you control on top of its owner's library. Oh, it's uncommon too.
There isn't a lot of hype about this beast (literally). This is by far my favorite card of the set, for all of the aforementioned reasons. I know it doesn't have any evasion...but its a 5/6 that hits the board on turn 2 with the help of Birds of Paradise and/or Noble Hierarch. The drawback really isn't that bad considering you have a body that can readily eliminate threats as big as Wooly Thoctar. Also, its conveniently in the two most card drawin'st colors you could ask for, so regaining the tempo you lost (which on turn two, is basically nothing, this isn't an Eater of Days). I hope a fun window of abuse opens up for Nulltread Gargantuan because I love this card. Whattya thinks?
it's pretty bad for constructed imo. you get a slightly better wooly thoctar but your opponent gets a free time ebb on your noble hierarch (or whatever), after which your awesome 5/6 will probably get terminated. even with CIP effects like elvish visionary, i don't think it's worth the trouble.
Card disadvantage + tempo loss isn't justified by a big vanilla guy... even at 3 mana.
There's something to be said for that. Esp. considering the quality of the single target removal in standard and ext. right now. (terminate, terror, o ring, path, etc.)
That being said, think of how hard all-in-red had to work to put a 5 or 6 power creature on the board. And AIR almost worked. Where I play, it was popular enough to force small deckchanges in faeries, so that they had to cut their counters (usually broken ambitions) for terrors.
Card advantage isn't the be-all and end-all. One of my good friends plays stiflenaught in legacy (which is similar, although obviously the power level's a lot lower here), and he says you can draw your cards back when you've won the game.
The problem, of course, isn't that it 'dies to removal'--it's that it turns your opponent's cheap removal into a potential time walk. You cast the spell off your bird/hierarch, I shock/path/etc. the bird/hierarch before the spell resolves, and the gargantuan goes to the top of your library (since, when it resolves, it's your only creature) as your draw for next turn. Risky--whether it's too risky depends on your opponent, and whether you're playing limited, standard, or another format.
Why play it on turn 3? Why not just hang back and play it turn 5 (or 4) backing it up with a hindering light a 5/6 on either of those turns isn't bad (at all).
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
T1: Forest, BoP
T2: Island, Elvish Visionary
T3: Land, this guy (stack the visionary), Mise

Or Predict for those that want cards that are legal in some format...
As for the card, I think the key point here is to use tokens obviously. Even if it's a card that DOES something, putting it on top of your library completely invalidates the reason to play this guy in the first place (or the draw off of Visionary). You basically ended up paying 2GGU for him.
Ashame there aren't more splashable token generators worth playing outside of Bitterblossom. T2 Blossom, T3 5/6 is cool.
Of course, it doesn't say "Or sacrifice ~", so you could play it by itself for a nice value.
...How is it a nice value? Then HE goes on top of your library. And it should be noted that I'll be screwing over kids all day at the draft tables by Unsummoning/Destroying their only other creature, and landing myself a timewalk.

LOL. I don't know how I overlooked that. All this Cascade talk (when this card is "played") got me goofed up I guess.
I think he is best with casual, people trying to abuse come into play effects. At draft, if you play him turn 3 or 4 it is almost game over, there are seriously only about 5 spells that kill him turn three. With an elvish visionary, this guy is a champ. With other CIP creatures, he still rocks. With tokens, he is sometimes better-you don't have to draw your 1 mana creature again. Otherwise, it will propably be a time walk for your opponent in constructed 50% of the time, with their removal killing your only other bounce dude on turn 2 with acceleration, 3 without. Just make sure you have multiple creatures out on the turn you play this guy

He is a cool card to abuse with 187 creatures. Reusing a Ranger of Eos, Mulldrifter, Shriekmaw, etc. isn't bad. However this means he will come into play way later than turn 3, losing some of his thunder.
Definitely a very interesting card that may or may not find a home.
A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.

[edit: I'd probably rather just run a wooly thoctar though in most decks. Same damage, less downside, colors more suited towards speedy smashing.]

What do you think about this with Cavern Thoctor?
"dies to removal" is very relevant if you consider how much it sets you back.
You lose your fattie, accelerator, and your next draw.

This card isn't viable in Naya anyway, so that's irrelevant.
I'd rather play a Rhox War Monk or even a Jhessian Infiltrator in my Exalted Bant deck. I'd hate a turn 3-4 stall in any aggro deck.
