I like sedraxis specter. You don't even have to be blue-red-black to play it.
Discard the thing to madness (or dump cards into your graveyard), or some other fun discard effect that benefits you, then pay 1B, swing for 3 haste damage through the air, and make the opponent discard a card. It's uncounterable because you don't "play" the creature, too. If there's other good unearth cards, I can see liking this mechanic.
No. Really dude. Is there something difficult to understand about the line "Remove it from the game at end of turn or if it would leave play."
The official ruling you're after is RIGHT THERE ON THE CARD. Blink/Mist makes the card...leave play...
Really.
Simple.
Did you even read the rules on Flashback that i posted? You do realize that they have the same clause, right? "If it would leave the stack"... Delay removes it from the game, thus it gets counters. This is the same damned thing.
The reason why unearth works is that they cut the cost compared to hard-casting. This doesn't preclude them from creating a future, more expensive, mechanic that fulfills combo fantasies, but this one says "you get it for one turn only at a discount".
Imagine the unearth cost as a spell that creates a token creature for one turn and it might seem a bit more reasonable.

Ayep. I sure did. And they have absolutely jack squat to do with one another.
What about phasing? Phasing doesn't trigger leaving play stuff and prevents the creature from hanging around the end of the turn with something like Vanishing.

That seems like it would work.
You could phase stuff out before end of turn... and have it phase back.

How does them being worded exactly the same have nothing to do with one another? And you havent stated any arguments, you have just bantered off "You're wrong, really simple." I dont see you presenting any rules that would make it seem the other way. I on the other hand went and found a similar mechanic, that backs my claims on how the rules should go with it.
My argument that Delay vs Flashback works the same way as Turn to Mist would with Unearth due to the wordings for each of the abilities. They are worded exactly the same way, and the card brought into question does approximately the same thing to the target. Delay brings it back in 3 turns, Turn to Mist bring it back at the end of the turn.
instead of just saying that i'm wrong, how about you Prove Me Wrong?

The problem is, flashback states to remove the card from the game if it would leave the stack to go anywhere ELSE. Delay removes it from the game, so flashback has no problem allowing this to occur. The card is going to the removed from game zone, just like flashback needs it to.
I'd need to read a comp. rules wording of Unearth to see if there really is a difference, but I imagine blink and turn to mist won't work as it says "Leaves play" on the cards. Sure, there may be that loophole, but I get the feeling they're not looking to give us something that strong. They probably wouldn't write leaves play on it if they meant for us to be able to blink or slide it.

A card game about Presidents. Stabbing each other. With knives.
Well with how the similar mechanic is worded, i think it works the way i said.
As for how powerful it would be, people thought Evoke + Blink was going to be too good for them to allow to pass. But guess what, its a triggered ability that you can respond to, and yes, you can blink an evoked creature.
Now, for this ability, it will take the actual Rules Doc to fully understand it. As it takes the rules doc to understand Flashback. if you read a card with FB, it looks like if i remand it, it goes back to hand. But it doesnt, due to the document. So i think Unearth is the same deal, it will more than likely have a very similar wording in the rules doc once it gets released. It just reads like how Flashback does, you cant really deny that it reads like its the closest thing to Flashback that they could put on a creature.

No, it doesn't read just like flashback. We don't have to give you any concession in this argument just because no one agrees with you. It is very clear in the print and text of the cards in question, i.e. the ability unearth and turn into mist/momentary blink. Yes, a rules priemer will end this silly debate once and for all and appearently that is the only thing that will saitiate your relentless quest to be proven wrong.
This reminds me of why they actually had to print " (Damage causes loss of life.)" on Sygg, river cutthroat.
To me, you'd have to be retarded to think that an opponent being dealt 3 damage doesn't trigger his ability. But somebody would inevitably try to argue it. The wording on unearth seems pretty clear. The only place where it's not 100% clear is with phasing, because phasing is a weird rule anyway, where all exceptions have to be specificed anyway.

At end of turn, if an opponent lost 3 or more life this turn, you may draw a card. (Damage causes loss of life.)

unearth this guy, then mirrorweave this guy with bitterblossom tokens...
Corpse Connoisseur might have abuse potential as well, if you dump it into your graveyard (or even play it and it gets countered)...
since he can be unearthed from your graveyard (can't be countered) to put guys like reya, dawnbringer or whatever into your graveyard.

I can already see the name of the deck: Isochron Specter
