Here is my U/R Ninja deck I am thinking about making. I need a little help, though, so give me any ideas you can.
Land (21)
10 Island
1 Minamo, School at Water's Edge
5 Mountain
1 Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
Creatures (20)
2 Higure, the Still Wind
4 Mistblade Shinobi
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
4 Ornithopter
2 Walker of Secret Ways
4 (whatever the blue one drop is)
Spells (19)
3 Annul
3 Echoing Truth
2 Magma Jet
4 Mana Leak
3 No-Dachi
4 Serum Visions
Now, I don't know what the blue one-drop is. It's probably either sac for draw, then choose and discard a card, or a force spike. Either way it's in. I want to have 4 Magma Jets for spot removal on Disciples or White Weenies, but I just don't know what to take out. I really NEED a blue mana first turn so I can drop the blue creature or cast a Serum Visions.
No-Dachi is for the first strike trick with the ninjas where you can deal first strike damage with them, then ninjutsu out another one and have both do damage (and get in effects). And also to get an edge in combat. (Ornithopter chops Somber Hoverguard out of the air!)
Annul and Mana Leak because, sadly, they are the best counters there are right now (counterspell....*sniff*)
Echoing Truth because sometimes I'll need to bounce things other than creatures, or when the Mistblade Shinobi can't get through to bounce creatures.
I'm thinking maybe take out one Blinkmoth Nexus and one No-Dachi for the two Magma Jets. Does anyone have some suggestions, and what do you think of the deck?
Your only problem is that you might not always have a creature to attack with and get your ninjas into play for much cheaper. You should take out some of the ninjas, and put in some small fliers, like spiketail hatchling, and kira, great glass spinner.

Formerly corn hulio.
Hopefully i will have a swelling of pride sometime soon..........
If you dont get that, look at my username, and if you still dont get it, than your to young to have an account on here without your parents permission, YOU ARE A BAD LITTLE CHILD!!!!
You have a point. I haven't playtested it, so I don't know if 4 one drops and 4 zero drops are going to be enough. If I get an ornithopter first turn, everything should be good unless they drop a Scryb Sprites or something... o_O
I've been mocking up some ninja decks myself and i have to agree, you want more cheap evasion creatures 2cc or less if possible to enable ninjitsu. In the decks i've tried a minimum of 10 evasion creatures which is 1 card in 6 in a 60 card deck is the way to go because it almost guarentees that you'll have 1 in your opening hand. I'd personally cut the blue 1 drop and the walker of the secret ways in exchange for spiketail hatchlings and sage owls.
That depends on what the blue drop is...if it's a force spike, I'll definitely want to keep it, and maybe go three of it and three Spiketail Hatchling. So the new creature list would be:
2 Higure, the Still Wind
4 Mistblade Shinobi
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
4 Ornithopter
3 Spiketail Hatchling
3 (blue one drop)
What about the Magma Jets?
(By the way, thank you both very much for your input. I'm grateful)
EDIT: I was never that hot on Walker of Secret Ways anyway, except for the fact that she IS hot. Could be nice if she's a 2/1, but she'll almost definitely be 1/2.
And this is all assuming that there will be a blue one-drop in BoK with an ability. I'm of the opinion that we'd've seen it by now. Plus, why would they print a strictly-better version of Wandering Ones in the very next set?

Hey, you. Yes, you reading this sig. Get off your computer, go find a copy of Skies of Arcadia: Legends and play it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Because Wandering Ones sucks and they've already shafted blue enough by removing Counterspell? If there is no blue one drop, I will first write Wizards a very nasty email and then just use Sage Owls and Spiketail Hatchlings.

Theres already a thread on this in the t2 causual forums, go there to see variations.
If the thread you're talking about is the "Official Ninja Thread" that you created, I looked at it and that's for a B/U deck. Mine is U/R. The black ninjas are all quite good, though, especially Ink-Eyes. But anyway I think this is fairly on-topic here so I don't feel any need to move it to the T2 Casual forum.
I just put this together in 10 minutes, so it might have some holes, but that deck seems pretty nice. Again though, anyone who can help with my Magma Jet problem would be appreciated.
How many times must you ask for advice on the Magma Jets without getting an answer?
Well, it seemed very strange to me looking at your initial decklist to see you compromise your mana base with 6 red sources (on top of 4 colorless ones) for just 2 copies of a non-essential red card. Sure, the Jet is nice, but it doesn't seem worth it that way.
Also while the interaction between Ninjutsu and First Strike is interesting, I don't think No-Dachi has any business in a metagame where you're worried about Disciples... why don't you drop the Jet and the equipment for more weenies? Also I think people are playing Echoing Truth too much without considering good ol' Unsummon, which is cheaper and bounces manlands too.
Hmmm....I like the No-Dachi because first strike is nice and it can let me hold off something like a Somber Hoverguard where I wouldn't be able to otherwise...also there is the trick with it where I can get two effects and do double damage on the offensive with ninjas.
I think Echoing Truth is just more versatile than Unsummon because even though it costs one more, it can hit enchantments and artifacts as well, and can return multiples of creatures to their owner's hands.
Well...it seemed to me like a very good card to put red in for, but it will certainly be difficult to balance my mana if I want a blue first turn....
I guess my question is, do you think it would be possible to get a blue mana first turn consistently while still having the Blinkmoths and enough red to splash in four Magma Jets?
For your monoblack version, i suggest you put aether vials. ninjaing (meh) back 1 ravenous rat or cutthroat means you're still with 1 creature. The vial negates this setback and sends them back onto the table.
A turn 1 vial can also drop a thropter just for laughs. heh.

......WTF????....... I don't even know what kind of warning you deserve for this....
Well...the deck can be OK without the Magma Jets but I just thought it would be nice to have them...it seems like maybe monoblue is a better choice. *sigh*
But how many red should I have in my deck so that I'll be able to play them? At least four or five, I would think.
EDIT: I think it would be good to have some kind of power-boosting equipment to make the ninjas a little stronger...so my new question is, is it better to have Nodachi or Bonesplitter? Nodachi costs more in every way but gives my creatures a notable advantage in combat with other creatures and allows me to be tricky with dealing double damage.
How about fire shrieker for double strike?
Kusari-gama makes the opponent think about blocking.
I was thinking about the equipment part. Unlike white weenies, you need the mana to do tricks instead of equiping stuff on your creatures. That said, I think bonesplitter gets my vote for being cheap, efficient, and the idea of an ninja with an axe is.. lol.

But you know, our ninja did use axes...not like bonesplitter but there is a kind of huge Japanese axe that they used on the battlefield. I should think about fireshrieker and kusarigama.
EDIT: I think if No-dachi is kind of slow, Kusarigama and Fireshrieker are even slower, and Fireshriker only gets double strike in combat, right? If it's unblocked I only get to hit the opponent once?
Land (22)
11 Island
5 Mountain
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
1 Minamo, School at Water's Edge
1 Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep
Creatures (19)

3 Mistblade Shinobi
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
4 Ornithopter
3 Blue one drop
3 Spiketail Hatchling
Spells (17)
3 Echoing Truth
3 Magma Jet
4 Mana Leak
4 Serum Visions
3 Shock
Artifacts (2)
2 No-Dachi
I think this is a lot more balanced than the one I originally posted, and manages to incorporate red into the scheme better too....the mana looks agreeable, but I haven't playtested yet.
I think you can drop the red. Ninja's have got a new toy to play with:
Shuriken 1
Artifact - Equipment
Equip 2
T, Unattatch Shuriken: Deals 2 damage to target creature. Then, that creature's controller gains control of Shuriken unless the equipped creature was a Ninja.
Besides, some of the black ninjas are more powerful. In playing on MWS, Ink-Eyes has pulled out Kokushu multiple times, Okiba-Gang Shinobi has proven to be excellent too (though for some reason Throat Slitter doesn't seem to work that often. Weird).
No, this is strictly Type 2. Shuriken is slow though, and only works on creatures, will slow down my own attacking, and I can only use it if my ninja is already out. (If I don't want to give it to them). Shock and Magma Jet are a lot more efficient, especially with scry. Honestly, I don't think Shuriken is that good....
Mistblade Shinobi is as good as a Throat Slitter if he gets through....he can handle bigger creatures, and I can burn the littler ones out of my way, or just dump the burn on the controller if it's a low-creature deck. I agree Ink-Eyes is much nicer than Higure...I'll have to test this out. Is there a Magic Workstation update with Betrayers cards?
EDIT: I think if No-dachi is kind of slow, Kusarigama and Fireshrieker are even slower, and Fireshriker only gets double strike in combat, right? If it's unblocked I only get to hit the opponent once?
If an unblocked creature has double strike, it will hit the opponent twice. Giving double the advantage from any ninja's damage abilities.

If an unblocked creature has double strike, it will hit the opponent twice. Giving double the advantage from any ninja's damage abilities.
That's very interesting...but now I'm actually fluctuating toward more Bonesplitters, simply because they're the most cost-effective equipment out there.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see what works when Betrayers is released.
I think you can drop the red. Ninja's have got a new toy to play with:
Shuriken 1

I'm not to sure about the shuriken. My deck is blue black, and i have very little room for it. Also, it requires you to tap the ninja, thus making him unable to attack.
As for the black ninjas, throat slitter is AMAZING. Especially vs affinity. Ninjutsu him in for the same cost as a rend flesh, and do two damage to opponent. Meanwhile, each turn afterwards, if an opponent can't get a creature with more than 2 toughness on the board, he will at least trade (at best kill multiple 1/1s) making him a rend flesh that kills a creature, does 2 damage to player, and then kills another creture. Vs, affinity, if you use lose hope, and sickening shoal it is rather easy to keep such creatures off the board.
BTW, Sickening shoal is great in my ub ninja deck. The ability to give a creature -1/-1 (Lose hope, bile urchin), -2/-2 (Another shoal), -3/-3 (Rend Flesh), -5/-5 (throat slitter) or -6/-6 (ink eyes, though i'm not sure if i want to include him) for FREE just makes ninjutsuing in creatures much easeir.
My deck and any ub build i try seems to have an auto loss to tooth and nail though. So i'm probably siding in waking nightmare and okiba gang shinobi.
My deck for reference
3 Bile Urchin
3 Teardrop Kami
4 Ornithopter
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours

4 Rend Flesh
4 Lose Hope
3 Unsummon
4 Sickening Shoal
4 City of Brass
7 Island
7 Swamp.
Possible Sideboard:
4 Waking nithmare
4 Okiba gang shinobi
4 Dreams to reality (Global artifact bounce?)
1 Ink Eyes
2 Echoing Truth.

I think you must tap the Shuriken, not the creature holding it. So, you can load up on shuriken on one ninja, and let him go on a killing spree later. You can kill small - midrange creatures for just 2 mana per 2 damage once a turn per shuriken.Blockers away! I think they are a must for every shinobi-toting deck.
