Over the last three months, a green/blue/red Spirit- and Arcane-abusing deck built around Long-Forgotten Gohei has captivated the interest of players in our area. The first sample decklist was posted at another site by Brainburst's own Jarrod Bright; it has since evolved in two or three different directions, the most common of which is a G/u aggro spirit-based deck (see list):
At first glance, Forked-branch Garami (double Soulshift:4 green Spirit) is an obvious try-me for this deck as it brings back Kodama and/or Hearth Kami and may allow you to play Rootrunner, recur, and play again. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
I would like to hear your thoughts on the potential for Spirit decks using:
1. None of those are viable block decks, let alone T2 decks. The splice deck goes like this:
4 Hana Kami
4 Soilshaper
[4 Sakura tribe elder]
[4 hearth Kami]
2-4 Kodama of the South Tree
4 Glacial Ray
4 Kodama's Might
[4 lava spike]
[2 Soulless revival - black splash combo deck]
add Lands, Landsearch, utility, arcane spells to your liking.
Obviously the Genju's are at the edge; they're inferior to soilshapers unless your opponent has burn. So the green and red one MAY be sideboard material against red.
Frostling is almost an automatic 4 of for the deck.

PS, Kami of the Hunt and Dripping-Tongue Zubera should NEVER be considered for a deck. Kami's too slow against red, white, and blue. Green's Zubera is boring and sad.
Note: This is *NOT* the G/BLACK block control deck, or the T2 rock. The T2 version of this adds BOP and artifact hate.
Your artifact hate comes in the form of wear away. Currently white is really lacking depth in the arcane spell department, so, red or black is the better way to go.
Dont forget about emberfist zuberas, tend to go at a 2 for 1 trade. Card advantage yummies.

......WTF????....... I don't even know what kind of warning you deserve for this....

Yeah, no doubt those are already being used in G/r spirits--I was looking for your opinions on the NEW cards.
@ twintwist: I've had good results with Kami of the Hunt, in the decklist I posted. Granted, it has at best a .500 game against ravager and only slightly better against T/N, I think if BoK brings two things to the Spirit/Arcane table, G/x will be entirely viable:
1. A bear spirit in green, black, or blue. The 2 drop slot in this deck is choked with bad creatures.
2. A more reliable way to recur combo pieces, e.g. lost Gohei or Kodama South.
more efficient artifact removal wouldn't hurt either!

As much as you'd think, no. Wear Away is sideboard; Viridina Shaman is T2 maindeck. Though I wouldn't suggest running this is T2, it's too fragile and too succeptable to affinity, black, and any control.

The deck has GOOD 2 drops:
Soilshaper
Hearth Kami (He's good in T2 now, in sideboard maybe in block)
Add Sakura Tribe Elder to smooth out your mana sources and add a chump blocker (he's the only non-spirit in the block deck, making rend fleshes all the more useless, as you'd sac them if your opponent's stupid enough to splice onto it).
The deck needs 1 drop creatures BAD. Frostling's that creature. If there was a spirit version of raging goblin, he might be a better choice. If there was a tutor creature, we could do with less copies of South Tree.

Note: Even your G/U monstrocity does NOT have a 50% against either Ravager or T+N. Maybe poorman's Ravager and stupid-kid's T+N; but not against the decks I run. Why? Well, you're too slot. What's you're "big plan"... splice consuming vortex and keep returning the collossus? Damn, those Rude Awakenings you're being fed must suck. And All Tooth really needs is two turns free with a tooth and nail. As you can't get things out to kill them before turns 5-6, they've pretty much got it. All they do is wait for you to tap out playing your kodama or something, then they wreck you. Affinity? Ha! The thought of this against affinity makes me ashamed to play affinity; I'd be charged with war crimes. My tooth would be charged with murder. Heck, my big red would be charged with being a serial killer the way I'd methodically kill every single creature you have for 1/3rd of it's mana cost.
Note 2: 3/3s for 3 aren't good anymore. If they were, you'd run troll ascetic. Now you're playing with a 2/2 for 3 that gets bonuses only when you play arcane spells? La di da, he's dead that turn as he needs to block ravager for you not to lose. Big red burns him. Tooth laughs at him. A lot.

Thanks for your vote of confidence twintwist
Actually, this deck works well enough against standard Vial Affinity to beat it 50 percent of the time. That it needs improvement is not a point of contention. However, Kami of the Hunt is an effective beater with Gohei and Kodama's Might/arcane draw spells. It is unusual that I can't swing for 4-6 damage by turn 3 or 4, or save him from sloggers or whatnot.
Really, folks, the point of this thread is to elicit helpful suggestions on how this decktype is enriched by the new cards. Not to argue over whether I think the deck is or ever will be competitive in type 2. You may view it as an exercise in futility, or an exercise in creative thinking. I prefer the latter. Who knows what the other 90 or so unknown BOK cards will bring?

I would like to hear your thoughts on the potential for Spirit decks using:
a. Hokori, Dust Drinker (the new Winter Orb spirit) in a G/w or White spirit deck also featuring Lantern Kami, Kami of Ancient Law and Hikari.
b. Frostling (the new red Mogg Fanatic that targets only creatures) in the existing G/r build.
c. Any of the Genjus (which turn lands into Spirits) or Shoals (arcane).
4 Hana Kami
