Precons go up early this time around, starting with our first: the Living Energy precon. It's a GUR Energy deck with an artifact subtheme. The commanders are Saheeli, Radiant Creator and Pia Nalaar, Chief Mechanic. Decklist is here. First from the new cards are the non-artifact cards, featuring a new Nissa.
It looks like this deck is just pure Energy and Kaladesh/Avishkar themed and not really race related. I'm very happy to see that. The decklist looks like it's full of a lot of the temur energy cards I loved playing in standard back then
oh heres the reprints with new art in the deck, in other words definitely bloomburrow decks going forward there will be plenty of reprints with new art that fit the theme of the set
oh this last one will turn heads do to being a expensive reprint
I already have an energy deck in Historic that can be infinite as early as turn 4. Energy was already ridiculous when it first came into existence; many recent additions to the card pool make it even more ridiculous.

Unpopular opinion: sorcery-speed removal is *not* as terrible as you think it is.

Care to share your engine nothing jumps out at me. I've mostly seen that lovely RW cat energy deck it's a fine lort but infinite on T4 seems a stretch for it.
I have a special place reserved in hell for druid of purification, in particular if you're playing a blinking deck. Blinking decks are annoying from the get-go, but these kind of multi-player-but-not-me ETB are just obnoxious.

at this point, if a creature enters the battlefield you will gain at least EEE
turn 4 Whirler Virtuoso -- spend EEE to get a thopter, get at least EEE back, then after spending 4 energy you can draw from the Generatorium. Now you can make as many thopters as needed to swing for lethal on your next turn.
In case of removal--and there is always removal--use Jolted Awake, which can resurrect either the creatures or the artifacts for no more than EEE.
It is a little vulnerable to board wipes, clearly, but the resurrection spell helps since most board wipes won't kill the artifacts. Now that I think about it, I should put two copies of Dawn's Truce in there--who cares if your opponent gets a card in that circumstance?
The mana base can be a little rough, but the Guide helps when using shocklands.
Sometimes I splash green for Attune with Aether, sometimes black for Diabolic Intent--I will gladly sacrifice a thopter to tutor exactly the card I need.
Most of the time it isn't turn 4, though, but by turn 6? Yes, often enough. I haven't been on Arena in about 3 months; I guess I'll have to go back at some point...now that I have spoiled it all.
That makes a great deal of sense. I was laddeung in November and December and hit Mythic both months with a boggles brew, January the meta seems much more controlling from my experience and I haven't been able to get any serious win streaks.
My sense is that a T4-T6 combo deck would be better including Goblin Bombardment and avoiding the combat phase altogether.

I had one iteration with Impact Tremors because so few decks run enchantment removal.
I have never had the time--or the patience--to get above Platinum. I generally just take my platinum and remain happy.
edit/add: it has been so long since I played that I forgot--that deck uses Aether Spike, where even in the very early game it approximates Counterspell.

There have been several months where I've hit Mythic. Sometimes it's been relatively little more then some downtime every day at the end of the day, almost by accident. Other months it's been a stress response where I deal with life stresses by burying myself in the game. Lately it hasn't felt like a good investment of my time. That may change again.
Yes, Impact Tremors is another great win now option. I do respect the choice of Aether Spike too.

Under ideal circumstances:
turn 1 Guide of Souls
turn 2 either Decoction Module or Izzet Generatorium
turn 3 any one of those three cards
at this point, if a creature enters the battlefield you will gain at least EEE
turn 4 Whirler Virtuoso -- spend EEE to get a thopter, get at least EEE back, then after spending 4 energy you can draw from the Generatorium. Now you can make as many thopters as needed to swing for lethal on your next turn.

It can also struggle against Soul Warden--sure, you get infinite thopters but they get infinite life, so you have to have your own removal with Galvanic Discharge or Harnessed Lightning. Maybe Skullcrack? ???
