And here's the Mechanics article, running through every mechanic in the set, with the Card Image Gallery patching in more Booster Fun. The most notable missing mechanic? Day/night.
And here's the Collecting article, which none of you will read because all you want to know is MSRP is $6.99 for the Play Booster and $29.99 for the Collector Booster.
And here's the Collecting article, which none of you will read because all you want to know is MSRP is $6.99 for the Play Booster and $29.99 for the Collector Booster.
Which doesn't really seem to mean a whole lot. Big retailers around around here are (pre-)selling boxes at 165€ and packs at 5€. The boxes also seem to still be the usual 36 pack ones and not the cheeky 30 pack ones that'll seemingly become the norm from Aetherdrift onward. Seriously, the whole MSRP thing seems to be largely wishful thinking on the part of Wizards. I have people around me, which are basically incentivized to burn money and even those scuff at the idea of 200€+ boxes. I wouldn't really be surprised if the price increase approach is hitting diminishing returns by now. Especially the reduced pack count seems very suspicious in that regard. There's little possible rational reasons besides either driving box prices down without making the actual product cheaper or making room for further increases without moving above the current price tag.
As for "Day/Night" being nowhere to be seen all i can say is: Thank god! I mean, i would grudgingly put up with it given this might literally be the only product "for me" in 2025 but not having to do so is obviously a major upside. I think there's actually even kind of a consensus on "Day/Night" sucking, which is pretty rare.
I hated day/night, and hate all outside marker mechanics (dungeon and ring tempts). Glad to see there's a consensus against at least one of those stupid mechanics.
Prices are stupid. Will not be buying any packs if they sell for what they're supposed to. And they're reducing from 36 to 30 packs per booster starting Aetherdrift? God, they hate us. Luckily every set starting with Aetherdrift looks horrible, so only people into monster trucks and Spiderman are going to be impacted. I do hope all their terrible decisions catch up with them and lead to dead sales. The whole "charge more and more for less and less" concept seems pretty stupid.
Last thing to hate on here: I really really want them to start putting reminder text on cards, especially in the old frame. I'm tired of saying "yes, this is the more aesthetically pleasing version of the card, but it doesn't say what it does, so I will play the other version".
All griping aside (they're really giving us more to gripe about in recent years), the set looks fine. They're reprinting Mass Hysteria which shows they'll include some cards that conceptually fit in Innistrad without having been printed there. Gimme some nice rarity downshifts, some old borders on cards that haven't had that, and some price decreases on classics like Snapcaster Mage, and we'll call it a win. It would be hard to mess this set up too much.

Definitely they should be more careful with them. It got pretty ridiculous by the time we got to take the initiative how much text was involved.

They are charging less for less with booster boxes they aren't just reducing the number of packs for nothing, come on.

A fair complaint. Of course, other people do like these simplified versions, so I'm not sure how we would get versions with the reminder text. I really don't want them to just add even more variants for this.

Fair on the two cards in this thread, I think. The reminder text should have fit there without too much hassle. But it should be noted that the old frame does have less space in the text box. There will be times when forcing reminder text would be a factor in keeping the text size sane.
They didn't even use the text box real estate won with removing reminder text to give It of the Horrid Swarm new flavor text.

ok if you bother to read the article the price for the packs after that… are gonna stay exactly the same so that’s gonna reduce booster box prices by approximately $24-$30 less so it’s gonna be cheaper to get boxes
the Real negative is for players who do draft because 36 was divisible by 8 now it’s 6
I have not drafted often enough to know this by heart, but wouldn't the math more be 8 players x 3 boosters/player = 24 boosters, so two boxes could be used for three drafts?
Or for a different setup: One box was 24 boosters for draft and 12 as prizes, but now a box doesn't support the correct amount of prizes (in addition to the draft itself being more expensive with 24 boosters now being more costly).
There is really no single right answer and the invisible hand on e again pushes towards what is worse for those who draft. I expect that those who care about the health of the game among the product makers aren't happy either.
Now if you want 36 packs, you probably can scramble to get them anyway for the same price point as you would otherwise. Order a box, buy six extra. Less convenient, but possible. I don't know whether that is too much for the rural crowd with no access to a LGS.

Well, at least that is the case for now and it might very well just be a try to push box prices below some kind of psychological barrier without really changing much of anything (i guess it's up to the individual how they feel about such a move) but i really wouldn't be surprised if those $24-$30 "discount" would be gone in a year or two and given how in recent years Wizards has known just a single direction when it comes to pricing i wouldn't really want to bet all that much money on the former.

I guess you can always order them online just like you probably did with the box. I hate to say it but with all the increases in recent years the "LGS tax" is becoming more and more impractical. Back in the days of 90€ boxes i didn't really care all that much if i would pay 10-30€ premium for getting them locally but this margin has pretty much been eaten by the upwards trend. Jeez if you are getting a Standard box at 120€ today it's basically a steal. 130€ seems the be the usual rate big online retailers charge now so without having checked recently i'm pretty sure it would come out at about 150€ offline (160€ wouldn't surprise me much either). Single packs will also demand a slight premium compared to boxes but given all the other values those +/- 3€ are probably not really important.
Personally i'm not that bothered about the draft part since even if i play a lot of it we have so many games where the amount of players isn't exactly 4 leftovers have been pretty much business as usual for us anyways. I figure it might be a bigger deal for people wanting to get those 3 4 player games out of a single box though.
Any news on when the complete spoilers from Innistrad Remastered are online or when the official spoilers even start?
Had read that they would drop the entire gallery while its still 2024...

Thanks for sharing the articles! The mechanics breakdown looks comprehensive, but it's interesting to note the absence of the day/night mechanic. As for the collecting side, the MSRP details are helpful for those looking into boosters. $6.99 for the Play Booster and $29.99 for the Collector Booster seem reasonable. Great info overall! UKWritings ukwritings.com/write-my-essay has been my go-to for essay help, and they’ve never let me down. Their “write my essay” service is outstanding. They deliver high-quality essays with strong arguments and solid research every time. The writers clearly understand academic requirements, and their work always impresses. The process is easy, and they even provide free revisions if needed. I highly recommend this service to students who need professional and reliable assistance.
