Zimone back again and basically she got lessons from Vorel of the Hull Clade while she was on Ravnica, 1 mana more same ability cost she can double the counters on… two things but can't do lands, oh and also puts a +1/+1 counter on up to two creatures on each of your combats
and introducing the cost B for 13 creatures teaser and is infact a black Blasphemous Act butinstead of damage…… everyone sacs 13 creatures, so this is really really bad news for indestructible boards for players. Oh and the borderless variant art is incredible.
Blasphemous edict is actually super cool. And the art on the full-art version is lovely. Who knew marching to a mass grave could be so festive?
I gotta say, fresh off the recent announcements of upcoming sets (which look almost all horrible and is packed with Universes Beyond)I have been pretty unhappy with MtG. But Foundations is actually a great core set, and I really like it. The design is good, the card-choices are good, and it doesn't feel overly power-crept compared to recent sets. If only Magic was like this all the time.
This gives me some hope that they may be trying to curb power-creep. This set is supposed to stay around for years, and it has cards like Fire Elemental and Bear Cub in it rather than saying "nah, let's make Bear Cub a 3/3 this time". I'm not seeing the gross exaggerations of power level we've become accustomed to. This set is rational and contains good cards. It's sad that this is the exception rather than the rule, but it does show some recognition of recent problems. Will Mtg go back to an era where this looked like a normal set? Never.
The good ol' days are gone, and upcoming sets will be things like Dora the Explorer with 6/6s for 4 with upside. But maybe, just maybe we can hope the contrary. We can't pretend we're not getting Looney Toons and Minecraft in Mtg, but maybe we could return to a world where they don't say "hey now 3RR gives you a 7/7 flying".
I don't currently have any decks using Crux of Fate but I did back when it was in Standard. At the earliest opportunity available to me, I am replacing Deadly Cover-Up with Blasphemous Edict.
