The debut show for Duskmourn's preview season starts in a few minutes after this thread goes up. As always, this thread will be updated as new cards are shown.
And finally, the Nightmare Bundle. Each Nightmare Bundle gives you one of the borderless non-movie poster cards, and one of the movie poster card.
valgavoth: ...why wizards there are endless reanimation/cheat into play tricks to get this out plus why do they keep making bola's citadel effects but this is in the form of rest in peace for opponents stuff.
Kaitos: *bangs head on desk* wizards i've gone over this with you about Chandra, Awakened Inferno....do not give emblem granting ability's on a +1 until we have ways to remove emblems
zimone:...... and Trade Routes is now gonna hype spike! (ensures you will get triggers of zimone)
Winter: UGH this is gonna be so brutal in command zone
eerie mechanic + crab: another hedron crab but for enchantments entering and its mechanic throws in unlocking rooms
manifest dread: i was close with the teaser it was the other one manifest its 2 cards instead of one for the dig and for art....how the heck did "Disturbing Mirth" pass as a art that might tick off some parents of kids who play the game
Dmonic Counsel: ooooooooooooookay! you have dlirium you just straight up demonic tutor thats a contender for the chase rare of the set.
Survival: Hey thats a type of benefical effect that should have happened years ago benefit for spotting tapped creatures on the second main phase.
the jolly ballooon man.: oh my gosh..... im actually shocked he actually got this to pass as a art. But anyway it’s just a boros Reflection of Kiki-Jiki but the body’s are smaller and have flying
needlehead: okay thats gonna scare the daylights out of players who love drawing cards.
Split up: WHAT!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 MANA VALUE BOARDWIPE!!!!!!!
Shrieker: i don't want the jumpscare art but this is beaitful for my morph deck.....but this might cost a kidney sadly because this might be eternal testable (atleast standard)
Norin: Okay maro you need to explain now you said Norin was dead! anyway this is actually pretty amazing card pretty much lets you do cast triggers on your block creatures again.
valgavoth: Slant ...why wizards there are endless reanimation/cheat into play tricks to get this out plus why do they keep making bola's citadel effects but this is in the form of rest in peace for opponents stuff.
Because the card is competitively unplayable if you can't reanimate it and even then is still a LOT subpar than Griselbrand or Atraxa as a reanimator target. I'm annoyed that his ward ability doesn't even synergize with his steal abilty.
zimone:...... and Trade Routes is now gonna hype spike! (ensures you will get triggers of zimone)
You abused of the word "price spike" on everything so much that I'm pretty sure that you didn't actually follow any actual sale website about Magic cards in your life.
Norin: Okay maro you need to explain now you said Norin was dead!
He doesn't need to, it's not his area of expertise.
Kaitos: *bangs head on desk* wizards i've gone over this with you about Chandra, Awakened Inferno....do not give emblem granting ability's on a +1 until we have ways to remove emblems
"Slams head on desk"...? Why does it matter if you can remove loyalty counters for them to make cards like Chandra? That's the point in the card, it's a constant threat when you +...?
the jolly ballooon man.: oh my gosh..... im actually shocked he actually got this to pass as a art. But anyway it’s just a boros Reflection of Kiki-Jiki but the body’s are smaller and have flying
Why are you shocked this art passed? Have they said something about not printing cards with too many balloon heads?

because blake said the art was gonna be rejected because of being too disturbing but blake vito'd that and demanded that being the art of the card.
That's the point in the card, it's a constant threat when you +...?
Some issues with emblems on + abilities are:
there is not limit: you can always activate + abilities as opposed to (some/a sizable subset of) - abilities for which you may lack the loyalty
there is no delay: you (almost) always can immediately activate the ability, so there is no extended reaction window to e. g. remove the planeswalker with an attack or sorcery speed removal
there is no undoing/interaction: emblems cannot be removed the way permanents can. Once you get an emblem, that's basically a permanent alteration of the game
Interactivity is good for a game. Emblems from ultimate abilities that cost more loyalty to activate than the planeswalker enters with have front-loaded interactivity since most often you have counter play before the first activation of the ability that creates the emblem. These emblems are inevitable.
Sure the "point" of the ability may be to create an inevitable non-interactive threat... but that may in itself be a bad idea.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Wow, rooms are just about the worst-designed cards I've seen. All that rule text on the card and you still don't know how it works. It talks about doors but there is not "door" text on the card. Nothing on the card explain what unlocking does. Nothing on the card shows which side got played. Why for god's sake could they not talk about "unlocking a room" instead?!?
Card design is really going downhill. Complexity and incomprehensibility. Plus, geee are they LATE in their attempt to surf the Stranger Things. (Not to say Freedy, Friday 13th, etc...) Boomer set at the max,
It seems simple enough. Its a Split card on an Enchantment. You pick one of the sides when you play it, pay appropriate cost, it comes into play with that Room unlocked. Then, at a later time, you can pay the cost of the other side to fully unlock the Room.
Its a Modern Horror set, nothing wrong with referencing Modern Horror.
Dmonic Counsel: ooooooooooooookay! you have dlirium you just straight up demonic tutor thats a contender for the chase rare of the set.
I have been switching back and forth between Pillage the Bog and Diabolic Intent in Standard--I don't mind sacrificing Mosswood Dreadknight since I can just get it back next turn--but I have also been keeping an eye on my graveyard while considering Squirming Emergence, and more often than not I do attain delirium since there are six card types in the deck. For the same cost (2 mana) I can run Demonic Counsel and not have to worry about sacrificing a creature. I suppose I could always try to find a way to work in a couple of copies of Gingerbrute or Haywire Mite but I don't really need the extra card type to attain delirium any faster.
edit/add: no one mentioned Unwanted Remake? 1-mana destroy target creature at instant speed? Sure, they get a face-down 2/2 but that's a lot better than Sheoldred or Atraxa.

While I don't think the mechanic is entirely not understandable, I am a little confused by some of their design choices. Like why does the reminder text talk about doors when other cards talk about unlocking rooms (like the crab). Like is there a difference? Does the crab trigger when you unlock a door or when a room enters the battlefield? If the latter, why not call it "when a room enters the battlefield? And if the former, why not use "door"?
It's very inconsistent unless there's some obscure interaction I'm forgetting right now.
I also gotta admit it feels rather... underwhelming, design wise. I think nearly everyone expected something more interesting. (And how are rooms enchantments and not lands?)

They really love adding random "flavor" terminology in modern MTG but I personally don't mind this one as it at least has some mechanical purpose.
And I get that rooms don't feel like enchantment over lands, but they definitely don't want to have lands doing that much at what will be presumably across all rarities.
Ok holy smokes! I just reread Dorian, Swift Survivalist again I realized you can do mega trick with him.
The wording is correct for you to be able to……… steal creatures
First He saids “you control” instead of you “you own”.
You threaten a opponent's creature you attack with it and if blocked you can exile it and it lets you cast that card so it will recenter under your control as a new object.

Eerie triggers when a room enters and when you fully unlock a room i.e. unlock both sides. If it said 'or unlock a door' it wouldn't make any sense because rooms enters with one door unlocked and you already get an enchantment enters trigger for that.

Each split card half is called a door. Unlocking is when each half is active on board, so either when you cast one side or pay its mana cost on the battlefield. Apparently there's going to be one of those markers like we had with exert later on.

Am I the only one that think that the whole main inspirations of this Duskmourn rooms mess are actually the backrooms horror trend?

Backrooms, Haunted Houses, Serial Killer slasher flicks, 80s vibes, The Shining...theres a lot of modern horror vibes in the set.
Old horror like Dracula, Werewolves, etc = Innistrad
Modern horror = Duskmourn
I think it's just general haunted house theming. But I reckon the backrooms does definitely factor into it.
The backrooms also are all about playing into liminal spaces, which I don't really feel like invokes the flavor they are going for with rooms. Personally my first thought was more Luigis Mansion and other similar games where each room of a building is supernaturally themed, like a freezer room being more like an arctic tundra.

You forgot to specify if playing the other is playing a spell or an ability. The fact that you can try to "guess"how it works does not make the mechanic clear. The fact that there is two lines of reminder text and those two lines still don't adequately explain what a door is, what exactly happens (ability? cast?) is a failure. Is the first casting of a room unlocking a door? IDK the cards and reminder text don't say.

Myaaaaybe, but I'm not convinced.
Something akin to Krosan Verge at common would be really interesting for Pauper but not sure Wizards wants to put more fetchlands into Standard.
