So at long last, we have the full list of Imagine: Courageous Critters, at least the ones that will appear in Collector Boosters only. First off, Karn, the Great Creator turns into a tree, because Bloomburrow natives get their metal from specific trees with molten metal sap. How's that for a ""kiddy" plane?
Thou shalt not have others of the same Legendary before me Thou shalt not frame images with the modern card face Thou shalt not change rules in vain Remember the Reserved List to keep it holy Honor thy Slivers and the symmetry of their abilities Thou shalt not kill mana burn Thou shalt not sacrifice depth for accessibility Thou shalt not steal combat damage from the stack Thou shalt tell a story through thy cards All must be one
Why did they waste slots on characters who were already animals? That's like completely against the point of this sheet.
I like the strix though. I was confused by the wooden sticks at first until I remembered that it's an artifact creature. Kinda neat. Now I wonder what phyrexians would look like on Bloomburrow. Wood cyborgs? Hah.
I understand the reason the creatures are the way they are: it would be kind of confusing for folks to see "Legendary Creature - Elf Shaman" on a Yeva, Nature's Herald that showed a Rabbit riding a bear, or the Shattergang Brothers as a trio of two Raccoons and a Squirrel.
I think the biggest issue was them showing 4 Planeswalkers, then Chatterfang to advertise the line. If they'd opened with Luminous Broodmoth, then Chatterfang, then finished with Jace, I think this would have been a bit better understood.
EDIT: I can't bring myself to hate this, because the art for all of them is gorgeous, I just wish it was better marketed.
Wasn't it mainly meant to be Planeswalkers? We only got Jace, Nissa, Karn, Teferi and Narset?
Liliana and Tamiyo also got reprinted
Yeah. I think my biggest complaint is when they said this was meant to be for planeswalkers who arrived on Bloomburrow to show what they would look like. Which is odd when a small amount are actually planeswalkers.

They said a few times that it would include legendary creatures, but I think that could have been marketed better and I do think they should have done more planeswalkers with a few other cards to show off how other beings are effected.

The strix and a few others imo are nice for worldbuilding as it show some beings would become calamity beasts- like and many beings that are already animalfolk just become a bit less anthropomorphic/ become animalfolk versions of calamity beasts.
That said I felt like we could have gotten more diversity then mostly Nezumi and Aven, like a phyrexian would have been neat as it seems Phyrexia had missed Bloomburrow.

We'll have to wait for the precons to see the last three planeswalkers get Bloomburrow-ed, but we know two are Domri, Anarch of Bolas and an Elspeth.

They specifically said it would be planeswalkers and legends. So far so good, but A) they said that it would showcase what they would turn into, which makes it entirely pointless to show aven become birdfolk and nezumi become ratfolk and B) they also show items like sword of Fire and Ice, which??? How is this different from literally any other plane specific reprint, like the swords in Kaladesh?
(Not disagreeing with you btw, just adding to your point.)
