It's sort of combines Offspring and Gift, but a reanimator spell was not what I was expecting for the in-set mechanic crossover.

Gift a card (You may promise an opponent a gift as you cast this spell. If you do, they draw a card before its other effects.)
Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. Then, if you promise a gift and that creature is not legendary, create a token that's a copy of that creature except it's a 1/1.
I know the answer is "It's situational," but I wonder what the best creature to use this on might be. What card would benefit most from getting a second, smaller copy of itself?
EDIT: Looking purely at standard, and arbitrarily saying that the mana value needs to be 6 or greater to maximize efficiency on the reanimation portion: Vein Ripper is the boring, but probably best choice; Tyrannical Pitlord is funny, purely for the idea of the idea of adding +6/+6, but if anything happens to his son, the pact is forsaken; Capricious Hellraiser could potentially let you do some silly things; Hoarding Broodlord could get you two cards, with two bodies to convoke; Steel Seraph could give you a two-fer on combat abilities; Terisian Mindbreaker could feasibly mill 3/4ths of your opponent's library in a single turn; Threefold Thunderhulk is, weirdly enough, better as a child; Tyrant of Kher Ridges gets you 8 damage anywhere;
and Vaultborn Tyrant will draw you some extra cards and life.
I think the black mythic snake from this very set is one of the better targets. Gets another immediate punisher hit and then really gets out of hand if you get to attack with either or both.
