Once upon a a time jaymedae tome was played in certain control decks. I feel we are way past that point with cards like reckoner bankbuster. Only tribe I could see maybe getting utility out of this is eldrazi with scions that just don't care if they are sideways.
This. I was excited, because I could hold back creatures for blocking, and then draw a card if enough survived.... except now it's really just a choice of "do you attack, do you draw, or do you block?"
I hope they find it in their hearts to create a template (+ rules update) to just apply well-known deciduous abilities like convoke and affinity to activation costs. I don't know how deep that design space is, but they clearly want to go there, so it's time to whip the rules in shape.
