Whenever ~ or another Human enters the battlefield under your control, creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain vigilance until end of turn.
3/3
Aragorn, King of Gondor 1URW
Legendary Creature - Human Noble
Vigilance, lifelink
When ~ enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.
Whenever ~ attacks, up to one target creature can't be blocked this turn. If you are the monarch, creatures can't be blocked this turn.
4/4
Eowyn, Warrior Maiden 2URW
Legendary Creature - Human Knight
First strike
At the beginning of combat on your turn, if another Human entered the battlefield under your control this turn, create two 2/2 red Human Knight creature tokens with trample and haste. Then if you control six or more Humans, draw a card.
5/4
All three are clearly from the jeskai commander deck shown earlier, and its clearly unmasked as human tribal deck
All 3 are rather boring in my opinion. Aragorn is the more exciting one. Beregond is a more restrictive version of Goldnight Commander with some benefits.
Aragorn's attack trigger when you don't have Monarch is 'up to one target creature can't block this turn', rather than 'target creature can't be blocked this turn'.
Jeskai Aragorn still manages to work support with your ringbearer even if you don't have monarch shenanigans going. I don't care, I like that mechanic, and I like that they're supporting it even where they aren't naming it.
Human and Knight decks are gonna get a big ol' boost with this set, it seems.

Cheeseburger, french fries, chocolate shake, somebody's mind I's about to take!
Huh?
What?
They didn't even have to read the book - they could have watched the movie. Eowyn was a loner - she set to prove her worth as a warrior of her own virtue and not as an adopted princess. Her card draw with 6 humans is forgivable - she loved her people and humankind in general - but the summon knights makes nearly no sense. Furthermore - the riders of rohan more resembled warriors than knights - they operated as scouts, ambush parties and calvary - but they answered only to their king and did not have a code of chivalry, heavy armor or any other trappings we associate with knights.
And that picture? What is she doing - randomly running in the air with the most awkward of poses? Also, I get inclusiveness - but she is the white lady of Rohan - known for her pale complexion!
She killed a witch king! Like killed it - not just caused it to have to be reformed. Aragorn didn't do that. Doubt even Gandalf could do it. How about if eowyn deals damage to a creature with indestructible, exile it.
Well, there are some things that are not recommended to discuss here to prevent the discussion from spinning out of control.
Many people do not quite like the direction they take, but it is a fact that we cannot do anything about except accepting it as a fact.
It is quite true that we have to accept, or deal with in our own ways, the changes that they make when it comes to representing not only the characters, but also the aspects of the franchises that they choose to "adapt" to cards (I mean, just take a look at D&D for example and howmanythingstheygot wrong there and they own it) and that's been one of the initial issues with UB is them not exactly adapting characters/aspects correctly.
What I do find strange is why LotR is the first one they choose to change and not 40k, Street Fighter, Transformers, TWD, or even D&D. Is it to drum up rage clicks as they know some will seethe with rage over something so inconsequential? Is it because they feel LotR may not have as large of a fanbase and feel it's the safest to do so?
And to keep with the thread and spoilers, I hope those pink folk don't come barging in on these people cause WotC thinks something is ruined due to it.
"Riders of Rohan"
Aragorn is the alternative commander
WTF? I hope it's a mistake
Also that anime pose on Eowyn is really killing the mood for me. Whoever draw that has no idea what lotr is or only watched movie's scenes with Legolas.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.

It's mind flayarrrrrs all over again. I was so excited to have a pirate commander deck and they give us a deck with exactly 1 pirate that had no pirate synergy. Should have just called this deck random unthemed humans of lotr.

I'm reading it as a collective Ride of the Rohirrim card, trample and haste sounds about right for a cavalry charge. Remember this is just the Commander deck version, made to fit the bigger theme of the deck. I have not been super impressed with those yet, but I bet the main set version is something you could read just the card text and say it's her.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
I get the impression that the commander cards have been designed bottom-up, that is with the needs of the deck in mind. I imagine the set's Eowyn, Aragorn etc will be more top-down designs.
We know they can do it right, the 40k cards are amazing.

I think the 40k cards were pushed to make people feel they had to play them. I assume doctor who will actually be double that. They need to make alternate universe cards and their disconnect with the mtg universe commonplace to prevent the disconnect - the off feeling - of playing those cards. I actually anticipate lotr cards to have a comparable power level to magic cards because those IPs are so easy to mesh. They also share creature types with established creature types making higher power cards more dangerous in context with the tribes that will get boosted.
Lord of the Rings fan or not, the two Commanders seem pretty good. Aragorn might be the first Jeskai commander I am interested in, and I do love the Monarch mechanic as it adds a pretty simple but powerful effect to the game. For four mana, you get a 4/4 vigilance lifelink with Monarch AND some powerful monarch synergies? Yeah. Eowyn is also pretty good in a humans deck as well, which is what I am assuming this deck is themed around.

Judging from the severed head, it is the moment she decapitated the Witch-King's mount.
