So, I've crunched the set. Only three cards are missing. 6, 36, and 41.
I've extrapolated that 40 is Niv-Mizzet Supreme. This is because in the extended arts for Niv-Mizzet is 173, and Pia Nalaar is 175. This is the same gap that would exist for the actual cards. This leaves 41 to be Ob Nixilis.
36 is Nahiri. 37 is Nahiri's Resolve. This one isn't a shock.
6 is a Blue card. Since there are 15 mythics, and the we know 12 already, and they're all desparked planeswalkers, that would mean that it ALSO must be one. Who does that leave. Jace.
While we don't know what the cards do yet. I can safely say that's the map for MAT.
Are you sure? I am missing 4 cards in my crunsh. 0020 in addition to 0006, 0036 and 0041. And I have this rarity distribution: UC 15, R 25, MR 10
MR we have Nissa, Calix, Kiora, Narset, Samut, Sarkhan, Tyvar, Karn (which are 8) with Nahiri and Ob Nixilis 10.
Edit: I added Animist's Might
That number crunch was helpful, but it has Gold-Forged Thopteryx listed as a rare when it should be uncommon.
I like how we're getting people saying there's no story whatsoever in the set when we haven't seen the actual story yet. This isn't Tempest where you can literally make a story book out of the cards
And yet MOM has twenty cards marked as "Story Spotlight" specifically so you can "make a story book out of the cards". And Aftermath is communicated to "continue the story in between sets" with its "lore-packed Epilogue Booster".
Story Spolight cards are just the major story beats. Temptest had three cards dedicated to Sisay helping Gerard get back up from a fall.
oldschoolmtg posted a new video saying that Wizards sent the Pinkertons after him to recover all of the product, and as such he took the videos down for legal reasons:

I assume though that you are using that reference as hyperbole, because it's so obvious that the complaints are not "we got twenty story spotlight cards, but want three cards dedicated to a small scene", but "we got to see a random sampling of more than half of the set and the ability to tell a story through the cards seems underutilized".
As you seem to recognize, it is a reasonable assumption that you get "the major story beats" from the cards. And if we aren't by chance missing a lot more "major story beats" (and the structure of the set is not inspiring confidence otherwise here), then the beats are "after the destruction people rebuilt", "after the war people are wary of war" (which is really similar to the first), and "another potentially Mending-level event that feels kinda like it needs a bit more setup than what we are possibly left with hppened and we are going to show you the aftermath of that thing rather than the aftermath of all the other things established before the epilogue".
It's like they have a hard time landing between the extremes of "Yes, obviously" and "Everything else is irrelevant: Look at me now!" And the Kenriths' Royal Funeral prepared us for the longest time for this nice middle ground, where the consequences we see follow nicely from the place where we left.

I don't see why. It was legally purchased. I imagine whatever merchant/distributor that sent it out early mistook it for the standard MOM set. No fault of his. Not sure that he was legally obligated to relinquish anything to them.
I am pleased to finally have a Calix I can use as a Commander. I hope he will have a regular art version, instead of strictly constellation one. Seems he and many PWs returned to their respective home planes.
Kiora is interesting, especially as sea monster support. Rather unwieldily at 5 mana though. Making her a 2/3 for 3 might have worked better. I'll need to re-read a clearer image of her, but I wonder if her ability can keep triggering. She is surely on Zendikar though, there's no chance or reason for her to return to or strand herself on Theros.

Honestly this set doesn't look full of story spotlight. Looks more like someone throwing an hissy fit because their favorite planeswalker can't be commander.
What are tranquil frillback, markov baron, kolaghan warmonger and similar cards supposed to tell me?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
When I saw the card Markov Baron I was wondering if that's a hint towards the planes coming together and the Sengir barony of Ulgrotha expanding into Innistrad or vice versa, but since none of the other cards hint towards any of that in any way (with the possible exception of the Thopteryx, but that seems to be just Saheeli's doing) that's probably not the case.

Yeah, that seems like a continuation of Golden-Scale Aeronaut's flavor text. Maybe there will be flavor text about two good friends becoming room mates on the non-premium version.
The irksome part here is also that there is a card potentially implying that cross-planar travel like that might be coming up, but there is no confirmation one way or the other. I'd feel by the end of the set we'd know - and not just through Word of God, but from the cards.

There is probably flavortext we haven't seen since most of what we have seen are various special frame treatments.
It is also possible that there just isn't a significant cosmological change besides sparkmageddon.
I don't see why. It was legally purchased. I imagine whatever merchant/distributor that sent it out early mistook it for the standard MOM set. No fault of his. Not sure that he was legally obligated to relinquish anything to them.
Yep. If what he claims is true I would have told them to get off my property, they are trespassing and if WotC wants the cards back get a legal warrant to be served by actual law enforcement. The only "theft" was a private company stealing legally purchased material (albeit by mistake) from an individual owner. Shows you what Hasbro/WotC think of me and you (again if this is true).

It also doesn't help that situations like these actually makes more people afraid to show interest in Magic: The Gathering regardless of how rare of an occurrence it might be. If this becomes more of an ongoing trend then I'd be extra cautious of where I'd be spending my money. Their current PR with LGSs are already at an all-time low especially with Commander taking over as the Premiere format of the game over Standard for obvious reasons.

We don't enough of this story and who knows the actual truth, but I would really like to know if these guards were armed when they trespassed on his property. Again if true the only crime was perpetrated by the alleged Pinkerton staff and Hasbro/WotC.

It does seem to be true
From this Gizmodo article:
"When asked for a comment, Wizards of the Coast confirmed that the video, its allegations, and the alleged Pinkerton agents were a 'part of their investigation.'"
It's a very heavy handed approach and a clear reminder that even if the Pinkertons aren't out in force union busting anymore, they're still down to help corporate America show us who's in charge.
A stern email from their lawyers probably would have done the job just as well.

Yup, they'd have to issue a court-ordered warrant to me to get those cards back. No Slivers in Aftermath, I can sit this one out too. I'm excited about the Sliver Swarm precon deck headed our way, I'm saving my money for that.

Now that you mention it, it's pretty weird slivers weren't involved in any of this supposedly totally massive mega ultra multiverse spanding world ending nobody is safe scenario. You'd figure the phyrexians would come across some slivers at this level of invasion stuff right? same with Eldrazi, but it looks like they're waiting with them. (Still very surprised and a bit disappointed we didn't see Emrakul released and have Eldrazi vs Phyrexians taking each other out)

Which leads me to believe he bought them off someone shady who indeed did steal them (from WotC or off a distributor) and offloaded the hot merchandise on him with his knowledge of such. If it was indeed a simple mistake he would have every right to demand law enforcement serve the search warrant and seizure, not some private mercs. He is either totally unaware of his rights, or in on an actual scam/theft/scheme. Again nothing but his word so we will never know.

It's easy to go on the internet, puff up your chest and say, "Well, I would never have done that," but he actually faced the situation and may very well have concluded (correctly) that the simplest way to resolve the problem at hand was to turn over the merchandise and worry about trying to get the money back later. People, on average, do not behave the way you describe. Most people acquiesce to a show of force and have done so through pretty much all of recorded history.
Thugs at their personal home, making their wife cry at the door over cards that are being spoiled and released two weeks later when a simple demand letter from an attorney would have resolved it? If there was anything illegal involved, litigation would be as well, but it isn't. Most likely, he acquired the cards legally via transaction that involved a mistake with the product names, as he stated. And he was clearly unaware of his rights. At minimum, he should have been paid for the product upfront if he wished to relent, and if not, he was under no legal obligation to surrender anything. I understand diffusing the situation, but the bigger issue here was the response from WOTC IMO.

I agree totally if this was the case. As I said before, I would have called law enforcement and notified them of trespassers, potentially armed trespassers. And I would be lawyer-ing up right now as well. Best case scenario is this person doesn't know their own civil rights.
