Been playing since 2000 and I certainly do associate Serra with angels. Whether she is one or not.
I will concede she's not a ackchyual Angel but I still think I'd rather run Serra.PW in an ackchyual tribal angel deck. This new Elspeth seems far better in a generic White Weenie shell.

I don't know why you quoted me than. My bad. I thought you wanted to correct me saying that she isn't the first Angel Planeswalker. What is kind of a ackchyual situation of your side :P.
I'm disappointed by this card - not the power level, which I think is fine. But it's just a fairly uninteresting throwback to original Elspeth, running through some of white's standard tricks, and adding nothing interesting. Last set each planeswalker either had an interesting "passive" or could be cast with phyrexian mana; we've already seen Chandra from this set have a passive as well. They couldn't have given Elspeth, in what may be her final incarnation ever, something special?
How about "angels you control have indestructible" as a passive? Or "When Archangel Elspeth enters the battlefield, she gains indestructible until your next turn." Or maybe an interesting death trigger, I don't think a PW has had that before. Or just go all-out and make her an 8-mana powerhouse PW like an Ugin or Bolas? This just feels lazy.
The art is great and the actual card is a throwback to OG Elspeth who was a powerhouse in standard. On the other hand, the abilities are boring especially if you read the story where Elspeth basically went Super Saiyan 2 and started kicking Phyrexian butt. Like common, she has a holy lightning sword but not ability to exile a creature?

Personally, I'm fine with PWs like these that are just....plain okay/good. Not every single one needs to be back breaking to go up against, or in some cases format warping. The call back is nice of dude, evasion, and big ult and that's likely all she really needs to be. Just flashy enough, but not too much. I think it strikes a good balance.

That's a fair assessment. I think a lot of oldschool MTG players do the same thing. I started in '95 with Fourth Edition and I can attest to that, despite her being very well known as a human oldwalker.
But Elspeth as an angel...oh boy she is my bias so I'm stoked to see her ascend in this way. I guess she'll be the token mono-white PW as Ajani has been compromised/removed from teh storyline? Gideon ain't with us either (unless they make a story on Theros again [someone hold Tiro down!] involving Gideon's exploits in death).
I want to see her regular frame art. Her aesthetic in New Capenna blew me away.

So looks like Thalia Rumor that would be a walker, probably isnt that she would remain a creature or she turned into a Boros or Selenya Walker instead of a mono white?
is there a chance that two mono white planeswalker in one set besides the like of WAR?

Thalia is pretty much monowhite in and out, so I don't see her being affiliated with any other colour outside of white. I mean we can have more than one mono-white planeswalker in the storyline so long as they don't appear in the same set. I haven't seen that since, well, War of the Spark. I could be wrong though.

He specifically said the power level is not the issue. He explicitly said he doesn't need it to warp formats. This is Elspeth reborn, blessed by Serra, inheriting that legacy, the last hope against Phyrexia, meant to smite the wicked....and I just looked at the card again and can't remember any of the abilities. It's where I'm at, same as with the new Wrenn, I don't want it to be the next Mindsculptor or whatever, I don't care if a single 60 card or cEDH deck ever wants it, just with the story and the hype building up to it, I was hoping it would be something on the scale of OG Avacyn or the Eldrazi. This and Wrenn are just two of the most boring walkers in a while. Fine and functional, but they leave no impression despite what they are supposed to be in the story.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
She feels like an old Planeswalker card. One add loyalty ability, one minus ability and an ultimate. The newer Planeswalkers are more playful. She is inspired by her old card. I am happy that she doesn't cost 8 Mana, tho.
Not a bad card, but also definitely not what I was expecting. I get the impression her Big Badass Moments are going to be expressed through instants/sorceries, rather than her PW abilities.

I have a feeling that Teferi is going to be the last walker in the set unless there are duo walkers. I think even Quint is most likely getting his first planeswalker card in the Ixalan set and not in this set.

Embrace the dark you call a home,
Gaze upon an empty, white throne
A legacy of lies,
A familiar disguise
Sing with me a song of conquest and fate
The black pillar cracks beneath its weight
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone
This feels like they designed the card with two goals in mind: 1) Have it be powerful enough that it sees some competitive play, 2) stick to a tried-and-tested design formula to avoid breaking something accidentally. The result is a reasonably powerful card that's ... just no all that exciting. I agree with the people saying that they should've tried some new thing for a character who's undergone such a dramatic transformation.
Art-wise, it still weirds me out that the face barely looks like Elspeht's. The wings are also a bit too quill-like for my taste. Does she follow the design conventions for angels on any plane? It looks like they tried to come up with a cool one-off design, but it doesn't really work for me. The sword looks like it's completely new too (aside from the two glowing circles in it). I'd have like some more callbacks to her earlier character design.
I have a feeling that Teferi is going to be the last walker in the set unless there are duo walkers.
Oh, if there's only one unspoiled PW left in the set, it's absolutely Teferi. Too big of a story beat not to do it.
They were intentionally cage-y about hoe many planeswalkers are in the set. "At least three but [much] less than ten". We've already seen three planeswalker cards: Chandra, Elspeth and Wrenn. (Chandra being the least spoiler-y they could show us)
So, technically this could be it.

Apparently they're still really scared of accidentally making another pushed story character end up like Emrakul, the Promised End. If we wanted to get all the Elspeth hype possible, damn the consequences, she'd have 5 abilities, not be a powercreeped Elspeth, Knight-Errant.

The wings tell me Mirranangel, but we'd have to wait for the non-borderless version to be sure.
I am surprised that we only got her frameless artwork. We have both versions of Wrenn as a story preview. Is the other artwork revealing something we should not see yet?
Wandering emperor was and is an absurdly broken card designed to sell packs. I'm happy this is half as good but sad that standard will have 4 amazing white planeswalkers legal at the same time

Very tricky!
My guess is, if it's in fact more than 3, it'll be 5. At this point, Quint and Teferi seem most likely to fill those slots, but it will be interesting to see how the spoiler plays out. I get the feeling they aren't quite done throwing these light curveballs.

This next idea definitely belongs in wild speculation but what if whatever these battles are, they are capable of creating game objects and some number of them produce Walkers? Like:
Battle for Innistrad if Phyrexia loses create Thalia Awoken a PW with bla bla bla. If Phyrexia wins, produce Nissa, Corrupted, a PW with other bla. It's a whole lot of words but... Meh?
She doesn't really even seem better than Elspeth, Knight-Errant. That one has a harder-to-get ultimate, but at least it protects your permanents for the rest of the game once you do get it. This one reanimates a couple weak permanents that probably immediately get board-wiped next turn. And she only has one plus instead of two. Or you can buff a creature (for -2 loyalty?!) and then have it immediately die.
There's so much room for a splashier Angel Elspeth in the future, and I would love to eventually see a bombastic midrange Elspeth that feels like an angel. This one is really nice and will be used! I can see that it does feel anticlimactic tho, I think that's a very fair point.
