Whenever Aragorn and Arwen, Married, enters the battlefield or attacks, put a +1/+1 counter on each other creature you control. You gain 1 life for each other creature you control.
Aragorn, King Elessar, wedded Arwen Undómiel, and the tale of their long and laborious wait came to an end.
Gollum the Conspirator
(Mana value/cmc unknown)
Legendary Creature ~ Halfling/Horror
Whenever Gollum the Conspirator attacks, look at the top two cards of your library, put them back in any order, then choose land or nonland. Either opponent guesses whether the top card of your library is of the chosen type. Reveal the card. If it guesses right, Gollum is removed from combat. If not, you draw a card and Gollum can't be blocked this turn.
As you can see once again the leakers strikes again and as you can see they are on flavor with the lore of the books/movies
And as for Frodo’s “tempted by the ring” that right there pretty much shows we getting yet another mechanic that works similar to monarch
edit: and ofcourse once again the kithkin fans got punched in the gut again and once again they did halfling instead of kithkin
Aragorn and Arwen are sort of disappointing to me. Not a very unique effect, looks like it could come from a Selesnya Druid or another basic trope. Gollum is cool and flavorful, I like how they lean in on his trickery. Just wished that he was a DFC with Gollum on the front and Sméagol on the back. Frodo looks sort of cool, I like creatures that upgrade themselves a la Sleeper Agent/Surge Engine. However, I cant really judge it without knowing what “The ring tempts you” means.
Why Halfling though? Isn't there like a legal distinction between Hobbit and Halfling. Like obviously it wouldn't lead to legal action here, but I'd assume they want to keep their franchises consistent. And this being a a Beyond Universes set they could easily make Halfling and Hobbit synonymous through the rules, like they did with Tyranids and the as of yet unrevealed Universes Within equivalent creature type.

I strongly suspect there will be separate cards for Aragorn and Arwen individually as well. We've seen sets with multiple versions of a character before.
Don't know how the tempted by the ring mechanic will work out, but I have to say, the stylism of it is really cool. Representing it like this in a mechanic is just an appealing idea. Much cooler than just having individual card effect that cared about life total or cards in graveyard or something to have this really important part of the lore be represented by a whole mechanic that puts these words on the cards.

Time for a time-honored tradition among the nerdly peoples: pointing out a meaningless detail of Tolkien.
In Middle Earth, halfling is a term humans use for hobbits. Hobbits dislike the term, as they aren't half of anything from their perspective. But it does make sense to use it, since it's already a creature type. But it's a pejorative term, so hobbits everywhere will be offended.

i wish they were kithkin to be able to use kithkin support

It is a sadly generic ability for them. Could they not have been lifegain matters instead, since they seek to build and preserve life rather than destroy it? I remember GW lifegain matters being a thing back in one of the coresets, and I thought it was an interesting theme for the colors.

As the tail goes, when Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson couldn't legally use Hobbitses, as it was still trademarked by the Tolkien estate. So they created Halflings. Fast for to 1993 when Legends was being designed. Richard Garfield wasn't allowed to use Halflings or Hobbitses, so they created Kithkin. With the expanded universes, WotC has brought the Halflings in while still having Kithkin.
I, for one, am disappointed. I was hoping all 3 could be here, w/ a "lord" that would give a bonus to each one, then if all 3 are in play, a super bonus is given. Ahhhh, a missed opportunity.
I doubt this'll be the end of the dumpster dive release (man, that sounds like an insult, but it's not, honest). I am willing to bet more cards will be slow-rolled over time. This might even be a publicity guerilla marketing stunt to whip up hype... who knows.

I'd prefer if Hobits and Halflings, or any UB specific races/creature types, weren't used and instead use the closest Magic typing. Having all of these hyper specific types just means they'll make a hyper specific lord for just that one niche type, and I think it's a bit annoying. This happens even in Magic with Naga instead of Snake or Hyena instead of Dog (yes, I'm aware hyenas are not technically dogs.) I'd like to think it would also make it easier to come up with actual Magic versions for UB cards, but then again it really doesn't matter if say a Hobbit Rogue was a Bear Druid or a Arastartes (I'm not looking up that 40k term to see if it's wrong or not) Wizard was instead a Starfish Drake.
So Aragorn being black seems to be a condition put in the general design sheet for the whole set, judging from the previous artwork we saw. Call me whatever you like, I don't like it. One thing is an artist's interpretation of a description, this seems like an intentional contradiction of the description. Don't be surprised if many fans don't like it. And yes, his skin color is not described in detail, but we all know how Tolkien intended Númenoreans to look.
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.

I guess we will get another card(s) for each of them individually, and maybe more than one.

I won't comment on it, because frankly, I have nothing polite to say. Except that I wonder how this face is "pale"...
Although the series offers very few details on Aragorn's physical appearance, we know he is tall and lean with "a shaggy head of dark hair flecked with grey, and in a pale stern face a pair of keen grey eyes."

If this set is true to source Wizards might get a lot of €€€ from me.
If this set is not true to source Wizards get absolutely nothing from me.
Wizards doesn’t seem to want my money by the looks of it so far. They can put their personal socially and politically motivated “modern take” where the sun don’t shine. Keep that crap away from LotR and the card game in general. It’s so easy to just keep everything neutral and not cause any issues at all, but they intentionally want to keep pushing.

Probably because "halfling," in the sense we're using, originated as in-universe slang for hobbits, and was a conveniently copyright-safe name for TSR to give the hobbit-inspired race in Dungeons & Dragons. And since Halfling was already established as a creature type with the Baldur's Gate sets, it makes sense for them to use it here.

Frankly, are you surprised? This choice was guaranteed to cause a significant backlash.
And just to be clear - the fact that someone does not like this decision does not mean he/she/whatever is racist.

As a massive Tolkien fan, Aragorn being black doesn't bother me. I still think it is stupid, but I can deal with it. Why can I deal with it? Because every single time a person or character of color shows up in Tolkien's work, that character is either evil or barbaric. That's a problem. And while I'm willing to give Tolkien the benefit of the doubt wrt racism, it is still a problem. Why do I think this is stupid? Because it is a cheap, predictable and corporate way of handling the issue.
