myr custodian flavor text.....SWEET FANCY URZA!!! URTET CAN TALK!!! THATS THE FIRST MYR IN THE HISTORY OF MAGIC THAT CAN TALK!!!
anyway now that spoiler season is over now we can offically start speculating the ultima set coming up (March of the machines) question is it more than just "battle" type for big changes coming.
WTF are you saying guys. Toxic+proliferate is extremely weaker than infect.
Infect gets incredibly strong even after a single giant growth. triumph of the hordes is game ending, because it's basically an overrun that quadruples your creatures' power. blightsteel colossus one-shot players. Giving infect to card like Nekusar win you the game if it isn't removed.
Toxic is balance around 20 life and doesn't scale basically. Winning with toxic will requires you to play a bunch of weak tokens in the hope they survive, play some incredibly ineffective french vanillas like paladin of predation or resorting to proliferate. Proliferating 9 times is way slower than, idk, playing approach of the second sun?
This set will have no impact on poison in commander because infect is already busted

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
The Elesh Norn faction "aesthetic" (the red sinew and white) is just unappealing and stupid looking.
The Ichor showcase and Oil-Slicked showcases are just hideous imo. I guess i'm just getting older but my eyes see basically blobs of nothingness on these cards. They are basically illegible from my eyes nonetheless from across the table.

Gotta say, Sam Wolfe Connelly is rapidly rising on my favorite artist list.
And wait, if Thrun was the last troll on Mirrodin, and he's still incompleat in this set, where the hell did Oil-Gorger Troll come from?

Maybe "The Last Troll" is what the Mirrans call him, who don't consider Phyrexians worthy of being seen as a defilement of the original species rather than a specimen.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

I think the commander poison issue is more "does it annoy too many people?" than "is it too good?" Notionally, the same forces that cause the average commander game to be longer than 3 or 4 turns should be able to keep poison in check, but as evidenced by the fact that commander has a banlist at all, those forces are not always sufficient. Poison will not make the list of the most powerful things you can do in commander after All Will Be One, but I could see it irritating enough people that the RC steps in.
And wait, if Thrun was the last troll on Mirrodin, and he's still incompleat in this set, where the hell did Oil-Gorger Troll come from?
Retcons. It was fairly explicitly stated Thrun was the last troll. I don't even know why they did it. Like what's the value of retconning that fact just to print a second troll card? Troll tribal in MoM or Return to Eldraine? But even that would be a fail because the card only really works in a phyrexian deck. It's just stupid.
It's almost as if MtG actively doesn't care about Vorthoses. Like literally going out of their way to annoy Vorthos, lmao.
Maybe I'm just imagining things (because he just did a basic land cycle in DomU), but it feels like card art by Seb McKinnon is dwindling and there is an increase in other artists with similar/adjacent styles (Eli Minaya, Tiffany Turrill, A.M.Sartor). I think WotC hasn't written him off completely, but they're trying to diversify their range of artists so that one of them "going bad" has less of an impact going forward.

I didnt even mentioned toxic or infect. I just say that with an enough critical amount of "each opponent gets a poison counter" and proliferate effects inside a dedicated poison deck (like old Atraxa) , you can kill your opponents by even skipping combat step entirely and being stopped only by counterspells.
Yeah if you throw 10 mediocre spells you are gonna win. That's gonna break EDH for sure
Basically every card you mentioned is not from this set. You can already play a "opponent gets a poison counter" spell followed by tons of proliferate. No one is doing that. Because it's so suboptimal that it will never win. You can't hope to poison ping an opponent (a thing that requires a dedicated synergy or to play suboptimal) and then proliferate 9 times (again with dedicated cards that will not advance your boardstate or slow your opponents) all while the whole table will try to stop you. Unless you are playing against craw wurm decks
They played so safe with toxic that is impossible to complain... the EDH sky is falling for limited cards. LOL
Blighsteel colossus is a more compelling reason to increase the poison count in EDH than this whole set combined. If they haven't done that, they won't do that for virulent sliver's weaker cousins.

As far as the commons go for limited, I have my eyes on:
Contagious Vorrac - a 3/3 for 2G that either draws you a land or proliferates, sign me up.
Basilica Shepherd - 5/5 worth of stats for 3WW spread across 3 bodies will always have lots of potential. Somewhat at odds because the 1/1s can't block, so this is more of an all-in aggro card, but also could work great with red or black sacrifice effects.
Indoctrination Attendant - this is a common so you should easily be able to get 2 and loop them... worth paying 3W each turn for a stream of 1/1 mites and a 3/4 blocker? Probably not in this set, but this is the sort of thing that would have been nuts in an older/slower limited format.
Myr Kinsmith - are there any good Myr at common/uncommon worth getting? Could this be this set's Shield-Wall Sentinel?
Also, charge of the mites - what is going on with that art? If those mites are 1/1s, what are the myr they're killing... 0.25/0.25?

I will say this then we go back on subject
first of all I did list cards from “ONE/ONC” infact I actually missed two from that set Prologue to Phyresis and Infectious Inquiry only 3 less than “mirrodin beseiged” block gave us of giving a poison counter without damaging
second Of all when I said 66 now proliferate……40 are from one/onc
second Of all when I said 66 now proliferate……40 are from one/onc\
6 of those are reprints and 4 don't actually proliferate, but do something when you proliferate.
The real big problem, however, is that most of them proliferate exactly once, just as most poison cards give exactly 1 poison counter. You have to survive to resolve 10 otherwise mediocre spells for this strategy to work.
I'm not sure I follow the issue here. Doesn't Infect have the same issue in Commander as Voltron, where you can turbo-kill one opponent, but by that time you've overextended and the other two can easily dispatch you. Even then, you can narrow down the suspects to the same four cards: Blightsteel Colossus, Triumph of the Hordes, Tainted Strike and Grafted Exoskeleton. The Atraxa proliferate plan is doable, but isn't really seen as a problem and is more boring than annoying. Corrupted would also lean into that, since you'd want everyone poisoned but alive to keep your value engine stable. In both cases, you poison them to death at the same time.
This set doesn't really impress me all that much. I know the point is the Mirrans are a very small force and have few cards, but it feels like they have more equipment than they do actual forces, a few more of them would have been nice. With there being so much Phyrexian focus I got bored seeing either oil counter, proliferate, or toxic again and again. The few surprises of flashback and affinity were definitely welcome.
At least I know what's happening in the story, unlike Capenna, another set I was hyped for, but was disappointed by.
The few things I was surprised by the lack of was a "fixed" Phyrexian Crusader, a darksteel/blighsteel card, and other callbacks.
Why is there another troll? Thrun was last, right?
The Elesh Norn faction "aesthetic" (the red sinew and white) is just unappealing and stupid looking.
The Ichor showcase and Oil-Slicked showcases are just hideous imo. I guess i'm just getting older but my eyes see basically blobs of nothingness on these cards. They are basically illegible from my eyes nonetheless from across the table.
I really like the white Elesh Norn type phyrexians, I think they look cool, but I totally agree with the ichor and oil variants.
Corrupted would also lean into that, since you'd want everyone poisoned but alive to keep your value engine stable.
Honestly i don't even get these "corrupted values engine". I can see like 4-5 being commander playable, the rest is limited fodder

The Equipment cards with the new Mirran mechanic undoubtedly occupy creature slots since each of them comes with a token and should be considered part of their forces.

Our last rare is the red member of the Twilight cycle.
And the last two uncommons.
Finally, our commons. First off the rest of the cards with toxic.
Now these two cards just give poison counters directly.
The other major counter of the set is the oil counter, showcased on all these commons.
Here to support both these counters, proliferate.
On the Mirran side, the rest of the For Mirrodin! Equipment.
These are the last reprints of the set.
Without further ado, the rest of the set.
anyway now that spoiler season is over now we can offically start speculating the ultima set coming up (March of the machines) question is it more than just "battle" type for big changes coming.
yep
which Makes me say I’m pretty sure people are wrong that poison still at 10 will be fine as of “ONE”
infact I heard sheldon said they are gonna keep an eye on poison counters in Commander if they are winning far too often they will up the poison count

lets see
And phyresis, Tainted strike, Grafted Exoskeleton or Corrupted Conscience on a pinger
give poison counters without combat damage
as of "ONE" we are now at 66 cards that proliferate
Fynn, the Fangbearer pretty much gives the deathtouch creatures Toxic 2 which beautifully synergizes with Necrogen Rotpriest
Norn's Decree and Noxious Assault pretty makes things really nasty
"corrupted" mechanic has beautiful benefits when you get someone to 3 or more.
I think its gonna be easier in Edh now.
