The name has to represent a conflict, so it is either creature-based, combat-based or player-based. I think a re-design of plane cards, which would be awkward as an evergreen card type given that in a set, there would be a single plane. So battle might a battleground of sort, which affect rules of combat. The other possibility would be battle between planeswalkers, but these card are too rare to make sense in limited. Unless the battle card allow planeswalker to act like a creature. Kinda like an aura for planeswalkers, when they decide to engage into battle?
To me, the most probable idea is the battleground one, as it has enough design space for the new card type top breathe.
My two cents for "Battle" is that it will be Space Beleren's "sectors" in card form. Cards that act like Enchantments, but you associate your permanents on the battlefield to it (i.e. creatures "in a battle") with the caveat that those creatures can only interact with creatures in the same Battle. Battles may give the creatures "in the battle" some passive bonus, and depending on certain conditions it's possible for a player to "win a battle", destroying the Battle in the process and getting a big bonus.
As for the card itself, hard to ask for a better reanimator target in Standard and Pioneer. Will absolutely stonewall any opponent immediately, draw you a bunch of cards and most likely dig for another reanimating spell in the process which will start a vicious cycle of "kill Atraxa so you don't get stonewalled, reanimate Atraxa, draw another spell to reanimate Atraxa, repeat until sun goes supernova". In Commander, she's probably better as part of the 99 though.
I imagine battles as a cardtype with a condition, a payoff and maybe a counter for progress of sorts. Like, there could be five "fields" on a side bar, your starting in the middle and when you reach the top you'd get something. Something like "Battle for Zendikar" could say "Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you move ahaed one step" and "Whenever a land enters the battlefield under an opponents control, go a step back" as well as "When you reach the top field, you sacrifice ~ and draw three cards"
That seems like a simple and open ended version of skirmish as a card type.
That being said, this could theoretically still work as an enchantment subtype I guess.
I think after World, Bestow, Class and Saga Enchantments everything could be an Enchantment...
The big difference is the removal. It seems like Battle won't be easy to remove unless with a "Destroy target permanent." effect (If they are permanents).
We know that battle cards will be a card type in the library.
They should have a mana cost of some kind I assume unless there are other restrictions? Like only having one or a certain amount of battle cards active, only one with the same name, only being able to play one each turn or something like that.
I could see something similar like Quest from the old warcraft tcg. The card has a task for you like having 4 1/1 creatures on the field and than a reward: An anthem effect. Thinking about this... Hearthstone quests work similar. (they would represent battle goals)
Speaking of Hearthstone they have a card type called locations. Where you can activate them to get certain effects but only a certain amount of time. (they could represent battlefields in different plains like Zendikar could make some element tokens)
Yu-Gi-Oh Field spells (This is basically just World Enchantments).

I just hope they keep it simple.
your right we don’t have much removal for it
that further proves that’s the big change there could be a ridiculously large errata wave so certain stuff could remove “battle” type cards (a errata wave similar to the “any target” change”)

The any target change was not a major functional change. I'd count it as a lesser change than the addition of a new type.
Also, I still think a big part of the change is a partial reversal of the Time Spiral changes and interplanar travel will be easier from here on out.
Maro confirms it’s still a type so the reason it’s not there is that there’s not enough room and probably new cards is printed next to never now Altar of the Goyf was the first time in years.
so tarmogoyf can now by a 9/10 as of “March of the machines” (or Lotr set which ever it’s in.)
He might have been confused because SO many people have been referencing the Tribal card type in reference to Atraxa since her new card snubs it in the reminder text

It even started with a I’m pretty sure this isn't answerable yet to make sure Rosewater would pay a minimal attention. It was literally a dumb-proof question and he failed even that.
And that's especially frustrating considering that it's not easy at all to have an answer from him, I tried to write to him thousands of time and never answered me, so the only chance that somebody ask something I'm actually interested in having an answer and failing to answer even if the ask question was written in the most clearest possible way in the planet it's pretty infuriating.
reading that question It didn’t clarify “tribal ability” or give a example like Gishath, suns avatar with dinosaurs
so Easily I agree with marl with confusion about atraxa reminder text missing tribal
reading that question It didn’t clarify “tribal ability”
Because caring about a specific tribal it is not an "ability" per se in the first place for magic rules, so even what you suggest would be wrong and misleading following your logic. He CLEARLY said "Is there a reason why “Atraxa, Grand unifier” isn't a phyrexian tribal legend?" which in english means "a legend that cares about phyrexian tribal" and not "phyrexian tribal card type" (which in the rules doesn't make any sense when referred to a creature card, so there's literally ZERO ambiguity from the ask part). The only answer is that MaRo read the ask in a very shallow way, try to prove that the asked wasn't clear enough it's just mirror climbing and not being intellectually honest.
MaRo is notorious for misreading questions on his blog. I wouldn't read too much into it.

The answer makes sense for Atraxa because she is a card in the set. But even than I am not sure... The reasoning is clearly for limited and she being a mythic means that she won't be opened very often in a limited environment. In addition to that there exists other very pushed mythics in this set, which already read play me and win. And they are easier to cast than a 4 colored 7 mc creature. But I am sure they will give something to the phyrexian fans. If not in this product than in the next one. They have done it for Myr, sooo.
I would love to get more phyrexian angels because they look sick :P.
Unless you're interested in drawing at least 14 cards the turn you reanimate/cheat out your legendary, this Atraxa might even compete with Griselbrand. She draws more than Archon of Cruelty but can't actually get rid of that Teferi, Time Raveler threatening to bounce her.

the real comparison is niv-mizzet reborn and that was definitely standard playable

Niv-Mizzet Reborn costs only 5 mana. That's worlds better than 7 mana (at least in Modern and even Legacy). You can build a midrange deck in Modern on the back of hardcast Niv-Mizzet Reborn; you cannot with this Atraxa or Griselbrand or Archon of Cruelty.

Agreed, I don't think new Atraxa is being hardcast in any format outside of commander (where it was clearly built for). But in 60-card formats, I think it could be a really strong reanimator target. Can easily draw you another reanimation spell, another threat, some interaction, and a land for good measure. That's excellent on such a strong body. She's competing with Titan of Industry in standard, but I think she measures up pretty well actually.

so basically she’s a witch-maw version of niv-mizzet reborn

As much as I wish that were the case, and grammatically it should be, tribal is, unfortunately a card type.

On a different topic: which alternate-art Atraxa looks better?
MaRo is notorious for misreading questions on his blog. I wouldn't read too much into it.
