Greetings, fleshling. We have been told you have five weeks to ingest these before we feed you to the vats for compleation. Welcome to Phyrexia: All Will Be One.
The Mother of Machines welcomes you in all her glory.
(Four Elesh Norns, one in Phyrexian, one in the new borderless ichor treatment, and one by Junji Ito.)
Jin-Gitaxias gives you a glimpse of a cycle of Twilight.
(This is referencing the Sun's Zenith cycle of Mirrodin Besieged. Unfortunately, no Kamigawa Jin-Gitaxias pants on that giant statue.)
There are some familiar faces on your visit to New Phyrexia, some less familiar than others.
(Slobad is recreated as a Phyrexian with what looks to be Bosh's body, and we get that very obvious Phyrexian Obliterator reprint. We have 67 cards in that borderless ichor treatment. Oh, and that last one is called Venser, Corpse Puppet)
Unfortunately, this includes the last of the rebellion. They have proven to be far too tenacious than they have any right to be. o not worry, however; the Mother of Machines has plans if we ever bring them down.
(The resistance will be some of many cards with the borderless manga treatment. Not everyone with that treatment will actually be compleated in the story, but all these cards will show everyone compleated anyways. Oh, and Koth's safe for now.)
Our scouts report these ten planeswalkers entering our world. Half of them will not walk away incompleat. We have some idea of what to do with each of them, of course.
(These then planeswalker will appear at rare. They will all get the manga treatment, but again, only five will actually be Phyrexians by the end of this set's story.)
Worry not, fleshling. Once we have given you new eyes, you will truly appreciate the splendor of New Phyrexia.
(Oh good, we get all the basics out. Those regular-frame ones will not show up in draft boosters.)
Beautiful, is it not? The oil speaks of great opportunity. All it asks is to venture forward with it.
(Norn gets variant #4 with these set based on actual praetor concept art. No, this will not bring Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider back into Standard.)
(I'm out of lines, these are in the Compleat Bundle, along with more Junji Ito Elesh Norn.)
(For more information, including dates, the names of the Commander precons, and the step-and-compleat foils see here.)
Koth has actually been fighting and surviving in Phyrexia for 12 real world years even though he could just leave whenever he wanted to. Now that's impressive
Saffron Olive is certainly having an orgasm while seeing Elesh Norn...
he compares every single card to Panharmonicon and this one is actually really, really close.
Koth is terrible... damn.
the "Sun" X Spells cycle is most likely "I'll do something nice that become NICER when you dump a crapton of mana"
Obliterator will make the "mono black nightmare" even bigger.... damn.
Isn't Sheoldred enough as a 4drop? haha
That equipment lord might work well with the Kamigawa dudes and finally make that deck actually do something on standard.
Are we looking at the same card? Its slow monored niche is a little weird, but minus for removal, plus for a card is the formula that makes most of the best planeswalkers. Think Liliana of the Dark Realms.
My guess on which five planeswalker they're going to put through the meat grinder: Lukka, Tyvar (both easy fodder), Nahiri (her story is over), Kaito (the Wanderer is the more popular Kamigawa walker), Vraska (the controversial one). One of them could be replaced by Koth I guess. They're not touching Jace, Nissa, Kaya or the Emperor, I'm sure.

wait… what? You’re saying that koth is good because he’s very similar to the, most likely, worst liliana ever?

A questionable assertion at best and he's better because he survives his minus, recharges it faster and hits his ultimate faster.
Dumb question, but does elesh ability work on creatures with etb abilities, or just abilities of permanents already on the field?
Both, same wording as Yarok, the Desecrated and "Yarok affects a permanent’s own enters-the-battlefield triggered abilities as well as other triggered abilities that trigger when that permanent enters the battlefield. Such triggered abilities start with “when” or “whenever.”"
Right, thank you. She still seems sort of weak when she's supposed to be the most powerful one.
Keep in mind that Power is not synonymous with Strength. I mean, many of the most powerful people in the world are frail old men/women. Elesh Norn leads what has become the most powerful faction of New Phyrexia (and through them, New Phyrexia as a whole), but that doesn't necessarily mean that she's the strongest Praetor.

I think he just meant that they should've just give Norn a more generic -and so, more powerful ability- and he wasn't referring to the P/T stats. Elesh should've had either a low and aggressive mana value with an ability always affecting the game all time (like the new Sheoldred) or a massive mana cost with an epic ability that also will matter all the time (like the 10 mana Gitaxias). What we see is just a niche, mediocre effect that needs a specific deckbuilding to make it matter and that will just occasionally hose some decks. So Elesh is weak even if we consider your parameters.
The ten planeswalkers will be in two mono-colored cycles. It's a lot easy to figure that out than if the compleated ones are two-color.
Survivors: U- Jace. G- Nissa. R- Koth. W- The Wanderer. B- Kaya or Vraska.
Compleated: U- Kaito. G- Tyvar. R- Lukka. W- Nahiri. B- Kaya or Vraska.
Also, one of the alt-arts shows characters compleated even if they aren't compleated in the story.... That's just plain confusing. I was wondering why alt-art Jor Kadeen looked more like a sword-spider than a human rebel.

In which word stopping any sort of ETB ability is weak?
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”

They said the alt-arts are all compleated as a "what if?", even the characters that aren't going to be compleated in the story.
Just wow. I mean yeah these things look cool but just wow overload. This is the problem with WotC. They say that this is just one tent pole set but fail to see that the number of products/skus within the set are just crazy. Then add all the different variants and it's just too much. This is just one preview day and it just makes me want to throw my hands up and be like, I'm out. What are these cards, wait what does that say, which version is that, please read it to me. It's SOO Much. They just can't help themselves. I mean I worked in a specialty construction supply store. We started doing the same thing. Adding ancillary products that were "related" to what we were doing. All it did was overload the workers trying to keep up with the products and be knowledgeable enough to sell them AND honestly gave the customers too many options so they felt overwhelmed. Instead of focusing on what we knew and what we did really well, we had to "get more money" and it ends up diluting everything.
Again was super excited about the set and the new arc but I honestly feel like I can't keep up with what's happening anymore. It's just too much.
Just do Draft box, Set box and Collectors box. Thats enough, and not 6 variants of cards either and also "what if" cards, just geez like wait is that a completed planeswalker card. Oh no it's just a "what if" card, ugh, so it's not the lore or fitting in real life.
Just overwhelmed already and we got a long year ahead of us. Luckily i am content playing with the stuff I already have and don't feel the need to have it all but it just seems predatory and dilutes the product as a whole.

I mean, it's 4 mana for 4-ish damage at sorcery speed to a creature... which is pure garbage.
then he survives with 1 loyalty, which makes is superior to Liliana of the Dark Realms as a removal spell...
then, that +2 is utter garbage.... drawing basic lands? seriously? well.... it's the worst kind of card advantage, but still card advantage, I guess....
I remember I tried using Liliana of the Dark Realms alongside Raven's Crime and even there, that +1 (which was able to tutor up non basic swamps, mind you) was still garbage.
next turn, Koth could kill himself to kill something else... and that would pretty much be a bad impression of Vraska the Unseen who's not really a good walkers as well....
Koth's emblem is pretty strong as an overcharged Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle but keeping a walker that doesn't really protect itself while "plus-ing" alive for 3 turns just won't be easy at all.
at the end of the day, this walker has waaaaaaay too many hoops to jump to even not be that gamebreaking
I wouldn't go that far to say he's one of the weakest walkers ever, but it's bad.

Maaaaaaybe.
But also about Compleat PWs. These seems like the highest-as fan for PWs since Ravnica 3.
Norn gave atraxa the same head piece she wears you don't see that in the commander box art.
