And it begins we got another one of these types. Of leaks (card from future set in a recent set)
other side
so what the token does is unmask what toxic does
its A severely weakened version of infect but still better than posionous
it’s now only combat damages will work and it’s the indicated number like poisonous and no more -1/-1 counters. And how it’s worded toxic is worded like lifelink so it won’t hit the stack when damage is dealt.
oh and looks like “Mite” is a new creature type so a few of are bugs (“insect”) are probably gonna get hit by the errata wave infact the new haywire mite is like one example.
instead of having virtually 30 life against unspecialized decks like you did the last time around, it’s a straightforward race to see whether normal damage or smaller toxic + proliferate effects get you over the finish line.
Isnt' Toxic exactly the same as the Poisonous mechanic from Time Spiral block? If I'm missing differences please anybody tell me
It was pointed out that if you look at Snake Cult Initiation from Future Sight, the reminder text shows how Poisonous X works: "Whenever it deals combat damage to a player, that player..." So in the case of Poisonous, it is a triggered effect as opposed to Toxic which doesn't use the stack.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
They get the poison counters in addition to getting damage, not exclusively a poison counter rate as infect would give in lieu of damage. I guess the number marker is the # of poison counters that player gets whenever the creature deals combat damage?
I wonder if cards like Fynn will be errata'd to say "creatures you control with deathtouch have Toxic 2" if this is the templating of the Toxic mechanic?

Ok, but in like 99% of the time this is going to function just like poisonous then right? I guess this way the opponent doesn't get a chance to respond insant-speed to the last poison counter, but they would have had a chance to respond to the damage being dealt anyway. This is probably actually weaker because your effects that double/copy triggered abilities won't help with toxic. I can't see how this is better than poisonous, other than it is smoother in terms of interaction with the stack (because it doesn't).

It dodges Stifle but yes, the vast majority of the time it won't matter. It also might not stack if a creature has multiple instances, but that'll have to wait for the mechanics article.
I can think of 3 reasons wizards would change it:
Less triggers in Arena speeds it up.
Poisonous abilities stack where toxic may not (It could but if like Lifelink it wont).
Poisonous is a crappier word than Toxic, the definition of Poisonous reflects eating or taking something in, Venomous would be the word they want.

Nah cuz Fynn is a trigger whereas Toxic isn't
YEah that's true. Either way, I wonder if this will cause them to make a functional reprint of Leeches (It's on the RL). Because why not?
I will say I like how they're integrating the state of poison into another mechanical support stream via Corrupted to make use of being poisoned. Turns a bad thing into a good thing if it's done right.
Curious to see how this all blends together.

honestly I think there will be ways to remove poison counters as of Phyrexia all will be one or March of the machines
And to prove that
The lore is definitely suggesting planeswalkers as curable that came from tezzeret.
Cataphract of the Swarm
1BG
Creature-Phyrexian Warrior
When Cataphract of the Swarm enters the battlefield, target opponent gets a poison counter.
1, Remove a poison counter from an opponent: Target Phyrexian gains indestructible until end of turn.
3/2
maybe they cut back and decided Vorinclex to go in alone and save it here in “phyrexia all will be one” or/and “March of the machines” for phyrexian tribal cards.
What's interesting is that the number of poison counters isn't tied to the creature's power or how much combat damage it's dealing, so we may end up seeing a 1/1 with Toxic 2, or a 3/1 with Trample and Toxic 1, etc

there was claimed leaked cards in kaldheim
one Was real but the other is yet to show itself

They'd just spell it out, I assume. Toxic as described here only applies to combat damage.
