Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Strange to have Rodolf Duskbringer roll out so closely in the wake of Celestine, the Living Saint. The parallels are so close, and yet the approach is rather different. More expensive, with added cost to what had been a free ability, but it adds black, which is the more prominent reanimator color. Obviously, in a commander deck around Rodolf, you just add Celestine in the 99.

Well he costs 1 mana more for 1 additional attack, deathtouch and the upside that he can gain indestructible. The white manacost in the effect is what makes him an Orzhov commander so I am not even mad about that.
I think I will run him as commander for my reanimation Angel tribal deck. We got some good cards in the last few years for that deck but the commander slot was quite open. Liesa, Shroud of Dusk has a different kind of life gain approach more group slug and Liesa, Forgotten Archangel isn't exactly reanimation. Firja, Judge of Valor was the only one and she mixed up multiple themes. One which doesn't work that well in the color combination. Life gain on the other hand fits well for the color combination and the tribe.
The Vampire pack cares about lifegain and other Vampires. My only question is how a Vampire Angel happened.
