Woodcaller Automaton drops opponents from 20 life to 0 by the end of the turn after it ETB, but I think I still like Skitterbeam Battalion more in Modern Green Tron.
Recommission reanimates cheap stuff for cheap in (mono-)white; it just might see play in Modern.
Excavation Explosion is a relatively cheap mono-red way to make an artifact noncreature token and boot stuff at the same time. Might it see play in Modern Indomitable Creativity decks? ...Eh, I have some doubts.
Wait, so there are regular Brothers War cards in a set that's not Brothers War? I'm really glad that I don't have to worry about tracking all this stuff anymore.

Here I thought Jumpstart packs would be better than Theme packs, but it just makes things more complicated, and no one is sitting there going "Man, let's play some Brothers War Jumpstart!"
Going to have some fun with Rescue Retriever in my W and UW Soldier decks in Standard.
Artificer's Dragon could be a good finisher in some sort of go wide artifact creature deck. I just don't think that exists in Standard but you could maybe pull it off in Pioneer and Modern.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

I have my doubts that Artificer's Dragon will see play in Modern - Modern Affinity and Metalcraft decks have curves that are too low. Big maybe in Legacy Metalworker/Kuldotha Forgemaster decks, I guess?
Woodcaller Automaton may actually be best off in green-splashing midrange decks as 6 power spread over 2 bodies for only 4 mana (e.g. 4-5c Omnath, Locus of Creation decks, Jund now that they've ditched Dark Confidant) with a hideously expensive kicker (that the Omnath decks might still be able to reach late-game).
So what battle is Legions to Ashes in reference to? Who is fighting whom? I recall Mishra attacking the academics in a big storyline event, but the quote is attributed to an Urzan character.

The new Jumpstart products are basically iterations on the good ol' preconstructed Theme decks/Intro packs/Planeswalker decks. And at least some of these did do exactly that: Contain some cards from the set proper (i. e. draft boosters) and some "exclusive" cards that don't appear in draft boosters. In the end all should be fine as long as the Collector boosters(?) contain any and all of the cards. I'm not certain that's the case, but as long as there is one product that has a reasonable chance to contain any card in any version, I'll call it fair to consider them all one set, even a bit more fair than back in the days of Planeswalker decks.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
So how is that dog a soldier. Do creature types even mean anything these days?
Outside of actual animals in the military, there are a lot of historical cases when random animals get adopted by nearby soldiers, and eventually end up conscripted into the platoon to raise morale.

Does that make a mage's familar a wizard? Class types are nebulous as is because it seems like warrior and soldier are completely interchangable, but if animals can now be soldiers and wizards and clerics and advisors, then the flavour of it completely loses its meaning and you need to check every card twice for tribal interactions, because common sense doesn't cut it anymore.

This seems like a strange thing to get agitated by. Compared to a normal dog this one would be a soldier, what's the big deal here? How is this creature any different than the thousands of others you have to check the creature type on or even look up, thanks to them not being up to date with type errata.
There's nothing wrong with the flavor here, this dog has been trained enough to be on the battlefield. Why shouldn't be a soldier amongst other dogs?
The actual last rare of the set is the exile version of Maelstrom Pulse.

Here are the Brothers' War Jumpstart-exclusive rares. They each show up in the 20-card pack that shares their color identity.
AS for the Jumpstart stuff, I just want the Geology Enthusiast for the art alone.
HR Analyst. Gamer. Activist | Fearless, and forthright | Aggro-control is a mindset.
Elspeth and Jhoira rock my world.
you can target a troublesome permanet or a token to get rid of all of them. You win either way with that card.
That dog didn't go through a rigorous military training program to be disrespected like this!
Best soldier.
RUNIN: Norse mythology set (awaiting further playtesting)
FATE of ALARA: Multicolour factions (currently on hiatus)
Contibutor to the Pyrulea community set
I'm here to tell you that all your set mechanics are bad

That Legions to Ashes isn't a wrath, it's an exile BW nigh-Maelstrom Pulse.

Scrapwork Mutt is a cheap way to loot and help your Prized Amalgams get out of the graveyard.
Combat Courier is a weird way to darn near Think Twice - and Urza's Saga can tutor for it.
Dogs are trained for battlefields very often. This seems quite appropriate.
