Ashnod:this is a bit of a let down for commander players but there’s two good news 1. Might have a good shot in pioneer 2. Ashnod the Uncaring is the the commander playable version (grixis aristocrats if they are abilities from artifacts and creatures)
reconstruction: ok collected company is in white now and worse since sorcery
champion: hard to evaluate how good it is it’s just a vanilla after the X is done with the GG and WW kicker
Angel:I like the flavor text it’s karns vision of Serra’s angels while building mirrodin…any way should be easier for players to snag it now.
I think Ashnod has a lot more potential for Commander than first blush reactions might paint. A guaranteed turn one play with deathtouch and everything else she offers? There's a lot that can be done there.
I agree. I'm always looking for more legends that activate Mox Amber, early, too. A turn one card that can also help ramp is great. Ramping on turn two even let's you cast Sad Robot on turn 3 without any other help. Bloodghast can be sacrificed almost every turn for a powerstone token.
Cards like Lazotep Reaver cover your sacrifice for multiple turns. I'm definitely going to try it.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)

Kayla's Reconstruction looks like one heck of a way to rebuild your board...if you can spare at least 5 mana, 3 of it white. Guess we're gambling more for combo pieces if you can only spare 4 mana.
Well, based on these comments, Clay Champion will start arguments at the prerelease. It's GGGG for an 8/8, GGGGGG for an 11/11. I don't know how good it actually is. Suffers a bit from being just stats and the white effect is not great, but maybe it's big enough to make up for it? Probably not without trample.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but for Clay Champion, you can just pay GGGG and get an 8/8? Is that good?
That is how I read the card as well. If not its phrased poorly. Should have been for each GG spent on the X cost put three +1 counters on CC.
Frankly a 5/5 vanilla creature with no abilities for 6 mana at mythic??? That could literally be a common and not even a particularly good one either.
It has to be as you and me are thinking. If not it is the biggest bust at Mythic ever!!!
Based on things like Crypt Champion there is very clear precedent that 4 and CCCC are not the same thing. This is an 8/8 for GGGG or I am very very confused.
Who seems to be misunderstanding how the card works.
And yes an 8/8 for GGGG or an 11/11 for GGGGGG or a 5/5 for GGWW with 2 other creatures getting +1/+1 counters each definitely is Mythic. How Lord of Tresserhorn was describing it would have made it no better than a common.
With that said it also has ZERO keywords on it. I am going to have fun playing an 8/8 for four mana but it dies to every piece of removal under the sun and the puniest 1/1 token can chump block it turn after turn. Would have been truly mythic if it would have included something like this.....
If 4 or more G are spent casting Clay Champion it enters the battlefield with a Trample counter. If 4 or more W are spent casting Clay Champion it enters the battlefield with a Flying counter. Or something like that. As the card stands it is cool but not particularly powerful outside of limited and Standard. It could have been a Rare imho.

I like Ashnod. It's not a house like a lot of people were probably hoping, but 1/1 deathtouch for 1 with ramp and a sac outlet as upside will definitely be a roleplayer in lots of decks

Yes, I think the lack of keywords really does our this card into the "that's neat" realm. It's probably complexity more than power which made it Mythic. But, with some support it could do work.
I've been waiting for XN cards for a long time. I always thought that Sunburst should have been done that way.
But yeah, this will confuse people since we're used to the X mana being scrutinized. Maybe WoTC should have created a combined symbol (X+4) or something, or maybe the X aspect as an ability.
Sam of Rhystic Studies hosted an Art panel in Magic 30, and got to show off some big cards, including Ashnod and a very big artifact.
He also got to show off this schematic Platinum Angel.

You can pay the 4 with GGGG though. It's not kicker.
