There was a panel with Studio X earlier today about the state of tabletop Magic, and of course, there are preview cards. We have Brothers' War-era Drafna, Hurkyl's final act, a GU Tawnos, Ashnod's Skullclamp, and Jester's Cap deep cut edition. Details on the panel here.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)

The Stone Brain looks like an automatic 1-of in Karn, the Great Creator wishboards in at least most Modern metas...and I'm thinking possibly Legacy and Vintage ones, too! Heck, now that every single colour can play Necromentia-style deck extraction (Jester's Cap always missed by one crucial card)...this could be big. Also, with Karn GC surviving, The Stone Brain looks like game over against most combo decks, especially after you spam that brain to kingdom come!

The Stone Brain does look interesting for Karn wishboards, but it's one mana too expensive to cast and activate on the critical "Tron turn 3" with Karn down. Potentially having the opponent draw four cards is pretty brutal too.
BUT, since it gets exiled you can potentially grab it twice since Karn also gets artifacts from exile with his -2. So you could potentially reuse it.
Or, could actually side it in and not grab it with Karn too? Lots of options and the card does look cool. I don't know if I'm being overly critical or not because I'm pretty dumb.

I recall putting Slaughter Games in my Modern Gr Tron sideboard back in the day despite needing a nasty colour splash in order to cast that in addition to it costing 4 mana. The Stone Brain's critical turn being Turn 4 is good enough for me.
I'll typically only wish for The Stone Brain if one activation cripples them so hard that they can draw 4 cards that turn and still lose (e.g. Indomitable Creativity (especially since they crumble hard to 2-3 activations and you have a fairly good chance to activate at least twice in a row), Living End (only after wishing for Tormod's Crypt and/or Chalice of the Void first), UR Storm (name their finishers first), Calibrated Blast (the rest of their deck is a joke), UGr Scapeshift (name Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle if they haven't landed one yet, name Scapeshift if they have landed a Valakut)).
Come to think of it, The Stone Brain is a juicy sideboard card for Goblin Engineer and the rare Whir of Invention decks (I suspect Goblin Engineer decks will get more common due to Engineer's nuts synergy with Phyrexian Dragon Engine). Speaking as a Green Tron player, at least our own Karn GC hoses opposing The Stone Brains.

Confused by the art on Tawnos. This should have been in his youth, even before he was Urza's apprentice, yet the Art seems to show him quite older. It's a little jarring and perplexing.

Well, the original Hurkyl's Recall was more mechanically flavor-faithful to the story. She "unsummoned" the three dragon engines attacking Lat-Nam, but then she was killed by the rest of the organic soldiers who were untouched.
But for a first true spell cast on Terisiare ever, not a bad card.

Yeah I was trying to read Studio X's discussion on Twitter about the current state of Tabletop Magic when some of the stuff they were discussing seems very hypocritical of what they're actually doing as a company. Why would they say that Magic is for everyone when clearly that isn't their true intent? Don't watch what they say, watch what they do. What they do always tends to be contrary to what they say. I'm getting really tired of Magic Content Creators defending Hasbro's actions where they aren't allowed to really say how they feel about the game without some kind of repercussion from the company they sponsor for being Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro.
If they really want to grow Magic again then they need to find a way to get more seats at Local Game Stores (LGSs) without alienating their playerbase. Find a way to make Standard and Modern interesting again without putting all their eggs in one basket for EDH. The amount of reprints in this game as of late has seem to have diluted the overall creativity for original card design to the point where they only want to make flashy cards for EDH regardless of whether or not If it ends up breaking competitive formats. We're at a point now where the reprints themselves aren't really able to keep up with consumer demand because of how less of them gets circulated through the Secondary Market through Whales hoarding sealed product or from EDH.

Ashnod seems like such an evil, powerful overlord. Wonder why her card that's been spoiled is so pathetically weak
she never really leveraged it, but the deck was stacked against her anyway. the red hair wasn't a good omen to the fallaji peoples, and they hated her barbarism in what she did to create the transmogrants
anyway...
i wish u/g tawnos was depicted younger, like the u/r one since he was a toymaker in his youth. alternatively, i wish it included more creature types or let you choose a nonhuman creature type since so many animals were the basis of his designs.
the stonebrain is a call back to the greensleeves books right? its been a long time since i read those but little 3rd grader me remembers an artifact from the time of urza and mishra called the "stone brain" that didn't have a card in the game and seemed like the dumbest ******* thing ever

Another rambling that has nothing to do with these spoilers threads whatsoever. You should get helped. You are clearly unhealthy obsessed in your monothone argument.
Last I checked this thread also said, "State of Tabletop Magic with Studio X panel previews". So I wasn't necessarily being off topic here. There was even a link to the Studio X panel on Twitter as well in the OP. The MTG community is so blind and elitist that a good portion of them will never admit fault while also being in complete denial about the overall health of the game and Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro's public relation issues with the MTG community.

And from the retro artifact bonus sheet, Aetherflux Reservoir.
Which one? I agree that Ashnod, Flesh Mechanist leaves a lot to be desired, but I rather like Ashnod the Uncaring.

Good to see The Stone Brain yeah Brainstone we get it Wizards, jeesh, save the punny names for the Un sets.
I will use it with glee (in Standard) to rip The Wandering Emperor, Sheoldred and a host of other critical big mana cards from my opponents decks.

Drafna, Founder of Lat-Nam looks fun with Mishra's Bauble. Shame his abilities are so expensive that I think I'd rather play his wife, Hurkyl, Master Wizard in artifact-heavy decks.
