Because I have enjoyed this game for nearly 30 years and it absolutely sickens me to see how WotC completely sold out and is making it a sad incoherent mockery of it's former self in the matter of only a couple of years. Some people actually care about staying true to the original nature and aesthetics of the game instead of sheepishly cheerleading everything.
First dozens of Secret Lairs that don't even resemble Magic anymore, then freaking stickers, Space Marines, now Transformers and Dr flippin' Who due next. It's the whole floodgate of patheticness that has been opened so far added up. They shouldn't force people to have to deal with this outside IP bs. It will not bring good things to playing tables and the divide that will happen is on Wizards.
Not that I should require to explain these quite obvious things to anyone, but that would be it.

i too am a 30 year vet and your response here is pure trolling.
this isn't the game we fell in love with. this isn't magic any more. this is some amalgamation of garbage under the title of magic. for 30 years the game grew under its own IP without need of others. it had an identity. it was more than just cards with mechanics. we've seen that identity dwindle and erode over the past 2 years until we're at the greed driven point we are now. whats more is that now we cant' even voice discontent. they're baked right into boosters and many players have made discussion impossible as they respond the way you have. these are legitimate concerns for long time players/fans/collectors of this game. just because you don't agree doesn't make us wrong and doesn't mean we're insane.
with them baked in there isn't even a real way to opt out. don't buy product? yet this set is tailor made for old timers and is a love letter to those who played when the brothers war story was fresh, and ingrained into magic. buy product? now you're saying its okay to keep including these cards. we're stuck and responses like yours just move goal posts further down the field while alienating portions of the playerbase.
personally, i play magic for magic. its worlds. its story. its uniqueness. i don't play it because i want to experience another franchises uniqueness. i don't play magic purely for its mechanics. once those lines start blurring it stops being magic and isn't necessarily something i want to associate with any more. thats a real hard wake up call after 30 years of enjoying magic for being magic. not transformers.

Nah fella, I'm calling a spade a ******* shovel. You're being drowned out by people like me? Good, that means there's a lot of us. If you want to act a self-appointed keeper of some nonexistent purity by all means do so, but people are allowed to call you immature and say your views are garbage. Enjoy not having fun.

I suggest burning the transformer cards to heat your home this winter, it'll be cheaper then home heating prices anyways and keep the BW cards you like.

The only UBs we know about are Dr. Who Commander Decks, LotR set with Commander Decks, Assassins Creed, and Final Fantasy.
PS is anyone else surprised that the Transformers are UB, I mean I thought UB was supposed to be only IPs that Hasbro doesn't own.
So that leaves just The Blind Eternities, Great Wheel (D&D), and Un-verse as "In Universe" IPs while the rest are "out of universe" UBs.
D&D counting as in universe still says me that they are goi going to merge or link the D&D & MtG and UnMtG Settings together in the lore.
