Here come two of the biggest bioweapons of the Tyranid arsenal: the Genestealer Patriarch and the Tyranid Harridan. The patriarch begins large infiltration operations by replacing humans with its own mutants, while the Harridan's own army is composed of hundreds of hanging-on Gargoyles.
I'm wondering what those gargoyle tokens will be when the proper version of Harridan comes out. Maybe just gargoyles or drake gargoyle.
These will not get the Universes Within treatment. Compare the MtG versions of the Stranger Things Secret Lair, and the Godzilla treatment cards. They all have the same creature types, because the types are mechanically relevant.
And depending on terms of the licensing agreement they might not be ever able to reprint anything. Which could mean Old One Eye could effectively be reserved list from the start.

nope maro already has a plan in mind to reprint the UB cards with Wacky creature types
the short version is when new creature types get introduced in the mtg universe it could be potential of being the same as creature types in the UB lairs/UB Commander decks/UB Sets

I don't quite get how it's mechanically relevent, and not making a Magic version is stupid, but for once with this awful UB thing I don't care if this has a proper Magic card. Most of these I can only sit here and shrug at it all, good cards or not.

Subtypes are relevant for tribal.
If you're talking functional reprints, then that has repercussions with commander and the highlander rule. People would be able to play two genestealer patriarchs in their deck. That's why the stranger things cards got proper MtG skins, instead of functional reprints.

They wrote a new rule to allow for equivalent names. Nothing stops them from doing the same for creature types and this has apparently come up at Wizards (see link in Ryperior74's post, quoted below)
