Ertai: nice ETB first one is disallow and the other is hero's downfall bad news is card draw but both are nice for commander and upcoming phyrexian tribal
ertai counter spell: thats basically a unworded trap card and its nice hard to tell if playable outside stnadard or not
Saga: oh thats actually shocking its mono white and that strong so this saga is merry christmas for superfriends decks in commander
lands: CALLLED IT!!! the lands shown that the worldbuilding panal was infact a land cycle with basic land types but with no snow this time (worked well in kaldheim lets see if it works well again. ps that's why there are so many tutor cards that can get shocks/triomes they can get these.)
reprint: not only its amazing reprint guess what.... its now modern and pioneer legal
Hey, is this the first time we get to see a visual of the former oldwalkers that never got cards themselves? Kristina of the Woods, Taysir (sorta called it), Bo Levar, and Daria I'm looking at you.
Also Ertai was my favourite Esper-coloured commander from Planeshift so great to see the guy/thing back.
Woo Impulse and not the Battlebond art. I do miss the guy who looks like he's eating popcorn though...

Damn. Ertai was one of three characters I was really hoping to see in this set
BUT not as a Phyrexia, epsecially with hideous Ulamog arms
Ugh. His artwork on both cards is so gorgeous, if only he were simply a Human Wizard, ideally mono-blue, and not ruined by Phyrexian trash
WOTC always ruining my favorites with their awful and horrible decisions. This will not be forgiven AT ALL considering the YEARS I spent anticipating a new Ertai card only to end up in the realm of freaking Jenrik again

Why would you be expecting him in the set? He is part of a group of characters that were considered really dead instead of mostly dead, so outside of maybe commander product for the set, there'd be no real reason to think anyone deceased from the Weatherlight saga would pop up. As far as bad decisions, WotC handwaving Ertai's resurrection def overshadows his art, which is fine, and his colors, which are also fine considering he was Esper when we last saw his Phyrexian self. You can def be mad, it just seems that anger is coming from expectations that were longshots at best.

That's valid. I suppose I'll reserve my anger for his disfigurement. I really love everything in the art except his Ulamog arms, which are an unsightly redesign tbh

??? But Ertai's had those arms since like 2001? You're gonna be mad about a design choice that they made 21 years ago?
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

Tested Impulse in Modern UW(/x) Control (with maindeck Chalice of the Void). Digging 4 deep for only 2 mana at instant speed is absolutely phenomenal. It's almost always guaranteed to get you roughly what you want. If only my other blue-splashing (midrange/combo/combo-control) decks weren't already so tight on slots, I'd figure out a way to sneak Impulse into all of them.
Yeah, my complaints are unjustified. I honestly was thinking of Ertai as the only version I ever used, which was a handsome mono-blue human wizard. That was his original card I believe. So I thought he always appeared that way. I was not aware he was disfigured and corrupted later in the story. I started MTG in Innistrad so I was not aware
Our last rare legend is the reanimated Ertai, here with his own snarky counterspell and an Impulse reprint.

Also here is a superfriends Saga and a common dual land cycle with actual basic land types.

I definitely wasn't expecting an impulse reprint
Who likes the saga? The Commander is: Superfriends Atraxa!
I used to be a demigod, but now I'm an omnimage
aaaand on top of that kaldheim got us a snow versions of these eariler so we have snow variants as well

Bo Levar and Commodore Guff had visuals on Planeswalker's Mischief, Gainsay and Planeswalker's Mirth, Diversionary Tactics and both of them on Wild Research.
I always assumed, we see Daria on Aura Blast
Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."

I also called the lands!!! Though, of course, they are really not a complicated design. Very straightforward.
So kinda like Meghan Trainor?
