Found in today's Card Image Gallery dump are a BRDragon tribal legend, a familiar face on GU lands matters, flash and domain on Banishing Light, another defender, 2-mana pseudo-prowess, and main phase-matters fight.
Meanwhile, the Variants Gallery presents a legends-matter Jodah sneaking in early (he might actually be previewed later), and the stained-glass art for Rona, Sheoldred's Faithful.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I was looking forward to Jodah most of all from this set, because his effect was so amazing for me to finally build a 5C deck. I ADORE the previous Jodah card's artwork, but it didn't really lend itself too well for the Legendary Matters theme I wished to pursue (more so assisting large spell casting), so I was counting on this new iteration. The artwork on the original is so absolutely phenomenal that I had such high hopes
Especially for a set like this, where the artwork has been consistently delivering
But man or man, Thassa oh Thassa....
This art is so absolutely horrid that I've scrapped any notion of ever using this card
I'll stick to the original Jodah from the last Dominaria set to be my general. So upsetting, I wish this card's effect was on the card with the previous artwork.
Tatyova has the opposite issue for me - she is also rather disappointing, effect-wise, yet her artwork is GORGEOUS. I'll pick up a copy for this reason alone. But I really do not like mill cards, permanent theft or land animation, as a rule of thumb. She could have been like Aesi or something, instead... oh well. I love her landfall-like ability last time. I adore landfall.
I would ADORE Howard Lyon to paint Thassa someday. The Zack Stella art will probably always be my favorite, but I have a good feeling Howard Lyon will deliver something just as excellent
Yeah ... I get what the artist was going for with portraying him as a negotiator and all, but why does his face look so weird? And then there's the flower things around his neck - makes him look like he just arrived in a cheap tourist trap in Hawaii or something.
Some artwork are just a proper represantation of the character and especially not the massive power level.
This is not just a 1/1 timmy wizard ...
It kinda makes sense from a lore perspective. He's always mentioned to look like a young, inexperienced mage despite his massive power, due to the fountain of youth that gave him his functional immortality. That doesn't make the regular art good in any way, but it works in context.

You can see the other uh merfolk? Mer-elves? Wearing them too. Which is what lei's mean! They are given as gifts to honor folks, including dignitaries from other polynesian islands. The 'tacky' stuff only came after the US conquered the island of Hawai'i and cowed its people and repackaged their entire culture as a tourist experience for wealthy mainlanders.

ok the Ur-dragon is gonna spike for the 4th time in a row
The stained glass looks great.
Land creatures huh? They definitely are aiming that eternal design approach what with this and the enchantment creature benefit in the same set...

Also me: *derp*
Me: "Pretty nice, now my non flying creatures have flying." (you know, land based creatures

The regular Jodah art just got sent over email lol
After Jodah, Archmage Eternal, I expected this to get some awesome art; but in this art Jodah looks like he's coming down off a bender.
Even the Dominaria art was pushing it with the too youthful look, but this looks like a chubby teenager.
He's gonna look like a baby in the next incarnation.
Fortunately, the stained glass version kicks a$$.
The verz first depiction of Jodah remains the best.
Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)
Also I think it's neat that even if you don't have any other legends in play, he still gives himself +1/+1.
