The second BG signpost legend cares about getting cards in your graveyard. Like Turg before him, Uurg does work with Ambassador Laquatus, but it's better off with The Gitrog Monster.
Wait - Turg as in Ambassador Laquatus's minion from the Odyssey novel?
Now there's one callback I never expected.
Yeah, that one.
While I said it was a possibility:
What if "a character players have been requesting get a card for years finally gets one" and "Legendary Creature - Frog Beast" are the same? Anurids from Odyssey block were Frog Beasts, and Ambassador Laquatus had one named Turg. Laquatus was a Merfolk Wizard, too. Maybe he's the legendary Phyrexian Merfolk Wizard. Plus: I'd love to see Brushhooper get a reprint. Mystic Enforcer would be fun, too.
I was secretly hoping for Anurid Brushhopper back. I was also ignoring that Aboshan's battle squid had ripped good ol' Turg in half, even if he could live until whatever year this is on Dominaria.

Feels more like a "Spawn of Gitrog" to me.
Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."

Yeah, that one.
