As I mentioned in the release notes leak thread, this ETBing tapped is fairly annoying, and so is activating at sorcery speed (heck, this hoses surprisingly little), but it does patch up weaknesses of U/B/R decks quite well: the inability to deal with artifacts, enchantments, and/or creatures. Since this exiles itself when blown up, Karn, the Great Creator spamming this can win games.
At least Modern Mono-Black Cabal Coffers will be quite happy with this!
Oooh boy, this looks like it could be tron worthy. It reminds me of a sort of more flexible, or at least different, oblivion stone. This is only at sorcery speed though.
Very interesting card.

I'd rather maindeck Oblivion Stone than Karn's Sylex in Modern Green Tron. Green Tron needs to control the board now and do awesome stuff later. A Sylex in the Karn, the Great Creator wishboard was fine against Blood Moon Midrange in testing, but tutoring for Boseiju, Who Endures did the job much of the time, and I didn't really feel the need to blow up the Sylex twice. (The Sylex is also too slow on average against Colossus Hammer Time and needs exorbitant amounts of mana to blow up Murktide Regent.)
I'm not quite sure Eldrazi Tron wants Karn's Sylex, as blowing up their own Chalice of the Void is bad news bears, but they can afford to blow up everything else (that's 4 cmc or less).

Yeah, oblivion stone is most likely still a better card, but my idea is kinda. The most crucial tron turn, you can't activate oblivion stone (if we say turn 3 with 7 mana). You're one short (that's why I prefer also having 1 All is dust in the main).
So if you can drop this turn 3 and still be alive turn 4 to pop it off, you could potentially have more mana on the board too if you're only using this to knock out stuff compared to 5 mana for oblivion stone. The exile bit where Creator Karn can fetch it again is also pretty sick. A lot of people tend to forget the fetch bit is also from exile.
Tron needs to luck out against hammer decks too hehe, but again, that's why I really like All is dust, because you can cast it at the most crucial point in the game, but oblivion is turn 4 at the earliest. (but you can pop it off at instant speed unlike this sylex thing)
In Karn's hands, the Golgothian Sylex turns off Phyrexian mana (among other things) and can wipe out as many things as your mana allows. Now if only anyone else on team not-Phyrexia knew how to use it...

Or, more precisely, lie around uselessy, fetch lands.
Disabling fetchlands is just icing on the cake.
All the more reason to play dryad of the ilysian Grove and prismatic omen
I used to be a demigod, but now I'm an omnimage
that’s number 3 for Angel of Jubilation and Yasharn, Implacable Earth stax effects who needs to wipe the board when this just stasis down plenty of things like the fetchlands

But otherwise, i would expect a ton of Commander decks will just slot this in, especially in Casual, this is just great.
