The Wizards Presents 2022 show starts in just a bit. Today we'll find out the releases of 2023 for Magic and D&D, as well as start the Dominaria United preview season after the main show. This post will be updated during and after the show to present all the cards previewed during the show.
First off, to continue the 30 promos for the 30th years of Magic, the Brothers' War prerelease will have the next three.
For the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 precons, they'll each be getting their own Sol Ring variant.
Our next major Universes Beyond crossover is Doctor Who, appearing in precons and Collector Boosters.
Dominaria Remastered draws from 27 sets, all set on Dominaria, to create a new draft environment.
Did anyone notice that they aren't doing two releases in the Fall of 2023 like they did for Midnight Hunt/Crimson Vow and Dom United/Brothers' War?
I guess having two sets so close to each other was bad for gameplay and business. So Eldraine II in Fall of 2023 with Ixalan early 2024 rather than Sept. 2023 and Nov. 2023. EDIT: Looks like they moved that around to the Spring 2023...hmm.
ALSO I love what they did with the March of the Machine by having an aftermath set. Kinda like what Odyssey was to Apocalypse after the OG invasion. Wish they'd have done that with War of the Spark...
BUT HELL YEAH RETURN TO ELDRAINE AND IXALAN. Squee is bonkers. I can see that alongside the hobgoblin thing from AFR in Historic.

This is going to be interesting. I may blow a paycheque on this set.
Ajani and Jhoira
I can't even say the 6/4 split is all that shocking, either; but what I find kind of lame is that now Selesnya and Dimir still need to wait until the next set to have their Painlands in Pioneer.
Also, I love the art on these borderless Painlands. Been really loving borderless lands lately, and this will only make the trend continue.
They are really killing it with some arts. That "new vindicate" is amazing

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I was blown away with is the Font of the Text on March of the Machine (aftermath).
Geez, I mean c'mon they really just did Avengers infinity war endgame. As much as I was hyped for all this, It just dissapoints me so much how lame that is. I mean we all suspected that was basically what WotC was copying but to have it in the Set name font style is just so, so, so, LAME. Even that key art or whatever is just the same as Avengers. ugh, just ugh why wizards... i was so pumped and now honestly I realize once again they just use our nostalgia for their greed and I find myself not interested anymore. I know its a rant, but for some reason it just hit me hard. Pretty excited for Wilds of Eldraine and Lost Caverns of Ixalan.
Also all the cool things .... what do you know, only in...collector boosters, special set, secret lair, etc etc, the greed doesn't end
And why Stangg?? Did they forget they already did that in Masters 25?
The Baral part is interesting considering Chandra and Baral were sworn enemies for most of their appearances in related storylines. Now they're (temporarily) fighting alongside one another. Temporary truce perhaps?
So looks like The Aftermath is a supplementary product and not a standard release. Looks like they did remodel their release schedule to as it was prior to the Midnight Hunt/Crimson Vow test.
What I don't get is how this story plays into that of the "new" arc started in Eldraine. As per MaRo's hand-off doc for Eldraine, that arc was part of a new planeswalker arc. According to The Gamer, this new Phyrexian arc started in Kaldheim will (apparently) end in March of the Machine. Is this a story within a story or separate from that of the OG Eldraine?
I want more Rowan and Kasmina dammit.

HR Analyst. Gamer. Activist | Fearless, and forthright | Aggro-control is a mindset. Elspeth and Jhoira rock my world.
Wait but in the storyline Vorenclex either killed Esika or compleated her. So another sleeper agent perhapse?
I believe Esika was dying when Vorinclex was around her. Apparently he took off with a piece of Tyrite after he mauled her to near-death. It doesn't appear to have been compleated her or died outright. According to the artwork it looks like she's recovered and ready to fight again, catmobile and all.

Could someone tell me what is so unique about the Ajani #371? It doesn't look Foil Etched, and it's not the regular, Borderless, or showcase art. Is it just the Phyrexian version in English?
If the Borderless Sol'Kanar isn't done by Richard Kane Ferguson it will be a travesty.
And only 6 of the 10 painlands? What is WotC thinking? Jeesh. Could the others still be in there? I will check the number crunch.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
That Archangel of Wrath ooooo. An Order of Akroma angel finally. The purple robes, the armor, and even the sword of vengeance [probably not THE sword].
Thanks but that sure is stupid. Unbalanced mana fixing is always a recipe for sub-par (and unfair) gameplay.

Imagine if WotC intentionally made Eldraine weak and Ixalan overpowered. As a joke.
Also, of all things in my mental bingo for DMU, "Banding 2.0 as a Mechanic" was not one of them.
Pretty stoked for Dominaria United, but I find the mechanics to be duds. They played up the sleeper agents so much and then there's no mechanic for them. They had an entire year of double-faced cards shoehorned into sets and now is the set where they retire them lmao (yes, I know Capenna retired them already, shush). This would have been the perfect opportunity.
Very curious about Phyrexia: All will be One and March of the Machine (though I find the latter's name and font really off-putting, it makes it look like it's gonna be a back-to-the-future dance-off). Just wish we'd see a new world after all of it, and not have two returns back to back after. :/
Enjoying the Dom-U spoilers. Love the new art for Yavimaya Coast from Jesper Ejsing!
Regarding the release schedule: So no new planes for an entire year, huh. Looking foreward to Eldraine and the Phyrexia set, the rest is kind of eh. I wonder what story they're going to tell in the Phyrexia set since the conflict on Mirroring/New Phyrexia is mostly over. (Koth returns?)
March of the Machine looks too Marvel-y. Instant turnoff, but maybe it's just the key art. Hoping the conclusion of this conflict will be better than War of the Spark.
I find it nice of them to include Warhammer and Doctor Who previews as a reminder for why I shouldn't buy any more cards.
Speaking of the new Eldraine set, anyone think its preview art is that of Will and Rowan's biological mother? That youthful face really reminded me of Rowan's face....

I get the feeling Wizards learned their lesson a bit from War of the Spark. They've actually introduced us to some actual stakes with Tamiyo and Ajani, so I don't expect the ultimate battle to go too swimmingly for the heroes.
That, and the logo for the aftermath looks a bit too sinister and foreboding than a victory would suggest: The phyrexian symbol is glowing and the cracks extend to the rest of the words without damaging the symbol itself. Who knows.

For the painlands, a 6/4 split I guess among Dom U and Bros. War? We're missing Brushland, Llanowar Wastes, Underground River and Battlefield Forge.
This is going to be interesting. I may blow a paycheque on this set.

The two arts for March of the Machines show:
Theros, Zendikar and Kamigawa behind Teferi.
Characters from: Kaladesh, Kamigawa, Arcavios, Ravnica and Kaldheim fighting together. The fighters accompanying Chandra are:
Esika, God of the Tree (in Esika's Chariot)
Kairi, the Swirling Sky.

They said it's just 6 in the Collecting Dominaria United article.
Also, 6 sets in a row with seemingly no new planes. Going full nostalgia for the 30th anniversary? Or pulling the brakes a little in general?
Thanks but that sure is stupid. Unbalanced mana fixing is always a recipe for sub-par (and unfair) gameplay.
