Welcome back to Dominaria for the beginning of Magic's 30th anniversary. First off, Jaya, a Phyrexian Sleeper Agent, a Teferi cameo, and the promos of the set.
This set's special basics are in stained glass.
Another promotion from this set are in the box toppers. 20 characters from the Legends set return with redone cards, with 19 creatures and 1 planeswalker. While the set symbol and collation say Dominaria United Commander, these box toppers show up in any booster box for the set.
Speaking of, 3% of all Collector Boosters for the set will contain one card from the original Legends set. There are actual Legends cards from 1994. More details and the full list of cards (some were straight up not found) here.
Finally, for even more celebration of Magic's 30th anniversary, we have these promos for the Prerelease. There will be 30 available throughout the Magic year (one per year Magic has been around), starting with thesethreecards.
For more details, including the names of the Jumpstart packs for Dominaria United, see here.
I couldn't care less about the Commander Legends as I don't play Commander. Even if they are from Magic's past.
I am curious about the Legends cards put into Collector Boosters. All English language? Or a mix of languages? And I am guessing some will be in far less than mint condition.

They claim all of the cards come from Legends boxes they still had they opened for this occasion, so if that is true all cards should be in (near) mint condition.

All English, all freshly opened with gloves and everything.
Thanks for the clarification above. I did watch that 6 minute video. And I am having a hard time thinking these were just sitting in a warehouse for 28 years. Stranger things have happened but it just seems a bit off.
At 3% pull rate for these it pretty well means you would have to buy 3 collector booster boxes (36 packs) to "guarantee" you a lost legend. So at maybe 220 USD for a collector booster box times 3 you are looking at paying $660 before taxes/shipping for a chance at ONE lost legend. (That could be worth less than a dollar)
They love this lotto don't they?
WotC is laughing all the way to the bank. A cool concept but just more of the same in the FOMO department.

I’m more curious about the reasons they didn’t include some of the cards they did open but put on the ‘not-included’ list. We know about the ones that got cancel-cultured, but some of the other ones… ? Might have to do with the rights to the art or other artist-related reasons.

I mean, they were sitting somewhere for 28 years. I doubt they'd take the risk of actually printing more, their printing has changed enough since then that it'd be really hard to replicate the original well enough and secretly enough to not get caught.
Those two being allied would make sense since the Caves of Koilos were pretty relevant to the Brothers' war and they seem to like splitting duals across sets lately.

Please, mill me. Mill my important cards. Mill my lands. Mill it all. Because I will still deal 20 damage before you can mill 45 cards most every time.

Wouldn't 3 boxes just get you a -9% chance?
No, from the article posted above.....
We only had a finite number of cards from the set, so only about 3% of Collector Boosters will have a Lost Legends card.
It states Boosters, not booster boxes.
3% per each booster, 33 boosters would be 99% pull rate (on average). So theoretically buying 3 booster boxes (of 36 cards) should theoretically guarantee you a Lost Legend card.*

Actually, you are both wrong.
The odds of an event with a 97% chance of happening (not opening one of these) 36 times in a row means multiplying 0.97 by itself 36 times. The end result of which is ~0.334 (a 33.4% chance of opening nothing), meaning that you only have a 66.6% chance (100% - 33.4%) of opening one or more lost legend cards.
If you want the odds of failure to drop below 5% (if 95% success is close enough to "guaranteed"), you'd have to open around an additional 5 collector boxes (a total of 99 packs, more specifically).
Let's be realistic here for a moment. These Lost Legends are not for most of us us as they don't appear in traditional booster packs like the original hidden treasures did as the supply of first printings (which is probably going to have all of these cards) is going to be snapped up by major whales who buy by the pallet. While I still expect to see an occasional "this dude at my LGS opened a Moat" story, I expect this to be less common than it was the first time around by a considerable degree (especially as the products holding the cards cost more and the packs holding the legends would never be cracked in most lgs limited events).
This announcement will make major whales more comfortable with ordering more product up-front, however, meaning that single prices for the actual cards in the set should be very reasonable. That is a very nice consolation prize, I think.
Phyrexians....absolutely no surprise really. We all pretty much called it. WotC not bothering to hide it makes sense, doesn't need to be a plot twist, it's just sensible progression of the story.
Dragon Hydra is a cool card.
I do quite like the stained glass lands personally. I think a lot of the special lands they've been doing have been pretty good tbh. I like the variety, if nothing else.
_ happy to see no historic, that ability was dumb and op
- happy to see multiple kickers returning like in invasion block
- sad that after all these years wizards just can't make new decent abilities for dimir cards
Yup! I called it! A return to the classic legends from Legends, but with updated abilities that make sense 30 years later. And I can't wait to play them all!!!
I love that the card name Tor Wauki the Younger finally canonizes in card form the fact that the Tor Wauki's from the two Legends books are different people. In general, re-designing all the old Legends legendaries is a popular thing hobby card designers try their hand on. I'm interested to see what WotC ends up with.
Nothing about the samples of new cards that doesn't inspire joy to me.
The design tech I like most from what we see is the new use of a finite number of kicker costs with multikicker-like scaling.
Finally seeing Sheoldred pushed back all the way from Eldraine feels good.
I'm intrigued by Braids possibly filling out the power vacuum left by Liliana slaying Belzenlok as leader of the Cabal.
Dominaria's themes will include legendary creatures and multicolor, it seems. Quite fitting.

I see the word sheoldred
which means the theory that elesh killed her and Urabrask is down the drain for some people
so That braids image on the collector booster what happen to her might be sheoldreds doing.
Its so stupid, that you might be better of with a proxy that shows the text.

I think we won on painlaids
Because the first two arts just smell Adarkar Wastes and Karplusan Forest
